April 18.1963 tHE McHENRY PXJUNDEALEB Pag* NlnciMB Sunnysld* EilaiM Parties Honor Confirmands J Jom Wslczyasld M5-S105 i Two of our local young ladies Jvere in the confirmation class of Zion Lutheran church of McHenry on Palm Sunday. Karon Rau and Sandra Fry celebrate the big day with parties. Karen's folks, Henrietta and* Karl hosted a buffet dinner in celebration of the big event and the guests included Grandma Rau; Mr. and Mrs. Charles long and their two sons; Mr. And Mrs. Edward Olson; Mrs. ^Lu Davis and children, Kathy fcnd Johnny; Linda Casey from the Village of Sunnyside; and of course we can't forget brother Johnny. Everyone had a really grand time and as if the day wasn't grand enough, the Raus' cat had her kittens to top it all off. Sandra Fry's party was somewhat of a combination. Not only did they celebrate her confirmation but it was a family reunion for the Turenne family as well. Those attending were the following (which I might* add totaled sixty-two?: Bernice's mother and dad, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Turenne, and her sister, Frieda, and John Dumalski, all of Volo. Bernice's one sister and her husband, Violet and Frank Hendrick came all the way from Onne, Wis- Violet and Frank are also Sandra's godparents, so It helped make the day complete for her. The Hendricks' single daughter, Nancy, and their married daughter, Faye, and husband, Don, and their two children, also came in for the reunion party. Then there was Sandra's aunt Frieda and Uncle Bud Austin and son, Gene, from East Troy, Wis. The rest of the family that was able to attend came from Chicago and they were Verne Grabalski and children (her hubby couldn't make it); Inez and Dean Haas and children; "Chickie" Lorbeck and children (her hubby, too, was unable to attend); Louise and Angie Turenne and^ Children; Harvey Turenne; Sandra's cousins, Pamela and Glen Gudula', "Nicki" and Bob "Miskanis and children; and Glen and Carol Turenne and children. Needless to say, with that many people there was never a dull moment and the only regret of the day was that • not enough time could spent with each one to really catch up on the news. , In the evening Bessie and l&i Schweiger and June and Dennie Banker dropped in, as did Carol Kennebeck. Well, it certainly sounds as though the two girls had a wing-ding of a time. May we add our congratulations to ; -them "both. new officers are: Bonnie Smith as secretary; Joyce Pitzen as senior conductor; Carol Ann Dehn as junior conductor; Elaine Schmidt and Mary Ellen Freund as sentinels; Carol Lima, Theresa Freund and Barbara Michaels as the faith, hope and charity symbols, respectively; and Carol LaBay and Barbara Diedrick as flag bearers. Installation was followed by the initiation of new members. Then there was a short business meeting. The fun evening ended with the gals all playing a game. Village o! Snnnytld* SUDDEN DEATH OF FORMER RESIDENT SHOCKS VILLAGE Betty Lehman S85-6S66 We were all sorry to hear about the death of Dean Cios former police magistrate and a wonderful neighbor loved by everyone here in Sunnyside. Words cannot express the loss we feel at this time. Judy, son, Larry and let's not forget Pop. Clean Up Week This is it! The clean up committee have done their best to get as many of the empty lots as possible burned off, with the co-operation of the residents and I might say our community is really beginning to shape up. Now to clear off some of the debris. Ray Jensen and Boy Scouts of Troop 144 will help clean up all they can. Each resident is asked to look, first in his own back yard and then in the neighboring lots. All this debris Is to be put in the ditch by the side of the. road (NOT ON THE ROAD) and a truck will be around e a r l y S a t u r d a y a f t e r n o o n (April 20) to pick up everything and anything, as small as a tin can, or as big as a car body. Jim Leahy, clean up chairman, asks all residents to please co-operate and get the trash out before noon on Saturday, April 20. All the help you can give will xbe appreciated And certainly just seeing the community rid of such junk will be reward enough for all who care. Feel ,free to call if there are any questions concerning this. Scout Ne*f I goofed again. When Troop 88's reporter Margaret Moore, call me with her news of this week's meeting I was unable at the moment to jot it down and had said I would call leader, Alice Bieschke, to obtain it.
