Wednesday, July 3. 1963 THE McHENRY PLAINDEALER Page Eleven Sunny side Estates INSTALL PRIEST BEFORE IMPRESSED PARISHIONERS Soma Walecyosld 885-S105 Sunday morning, June 23, just prior to the twelve o'clock Mass at St. John's Church, Father John Dording was installed as our new pastor in a most touching and impressive ceremony. Monsignor Joseph Healy, dean of McHenry deanery, officiated. I'm certain that all the parishioners who attended were happy to have witnessed this beautiful occasion. Time Of Their Lives The fifty-four juvenile girl Foresters and the six women chaperones who took the guided tour of the sites in Chicago on Wednesday, June 26, really had the time of their lives. Spots of interest included Museum of Science and Industry, Chinatown, Lincoln Park Zoo, a candy company, O'Hare Airport and a stop for supper at a popular drive-in. The girls (and women) arrived home tired but bubbling with stories to tell. Attention You apparently read of the condition of the Fox River in last week s Plaindealer, as well as the fact that the public beach had been closed as a precautionary measure. Therefore, we feel that it would also be to your advantage to consider our beach closed as well; at least until such time as the water proves to be more appealing and healthful. Day Camp's Coming Next Monday, July 8. is the first day of the week-long fun in store for the Girl Scouts of Valley View Neighborhood. The girls will be picked up and returned home by bus each day. The bus serving our subdivision will make its first stop in the Highlands at 8:45. More definite bus information plus all pertinent facts will be forthcoming this week in the mail to each registered girl. (Perhaps they already received their information sheets.) See you at camp, Girls! (Yes, yours truly is going, too). one having questions may call Frank Schafer at 385-0598. Vacations Vacation* Yes, they are starting, or should I say getting well under way. My nephew. Michael Mikkelsen, is spending two weeks with his Grandma and Grandpa Mikkelsen in Montello, Wis. When he comes home, then his brother, Eric, gets to go up for two weeks. They always have a grand time (what children don't when they're with Grandparents?) The Voight family, too, has been on vacation. They didn't leave for the two weeks, just a trip here and there. One of the highlights of the two weeks was the day spent in Milwaukee, Wis., where the entire family toured a local brewery and at the end of the tour were treated to liquid refreshments. This, needless, to say, made all the little ones feel very grown up, and a grand time was had by all. Another day, Ted took the three oldest, Pattie, Don and Paul, to Chicago to watch the Chicago Cubs play ball. This is a thrill impossible to explain. You have to go and see a major league game yourself to know the fun in it. Wonder Lake FORBES KOEHLER MOVES EAST TO NEW EMPLOYMENT Mary Lou Hartog - A group of men from a chemical company in Ringwood held a farewell party recently honorin Forbes R. Koehler who was leaving the company after 13 years. Ray and his wife Harriet have lived at 4512 E. Wonder Lake Drive for the past nine years. They have a daughter Nina who is eight years old. The Koehlers have sold their house and Ray left Wonder Lake Thursday for Waterbury, Connecticut wherfe he will be assistant plant manager for a the MacDermirl Inc. company who are suppliers to the Metal Finishing company. They plan to live in Waterbury and Harriet and Nina will be leaving within the month - as soon as they get the furniture packed and shipped and all the other loose ends taken care of that must be done when one makes a move of this kind. We all wish the Koehlers success and much Kindergarten Bus Just now received a phone call asking me to inform all parents of children entering kindergarten at Johnsbuig public school in September that there will definitely be bus service for these children. Singing Off No doubt, the foremost question in your mind is where was our column last week. Well, where were the phone calls? I didn't receive any calls from anyone with any news; and rather than put in the happy occasions alone, I decided that perhaps you'd realize that I wasn't kidding when I said there was very little to write about. Sure, I could have written about my own family; but our column heading is Sunnyside Estate, not Walczynski Family. So, how about it? Do I get news or will there be no column? And our vacation time is rolling around. Is there anfone interested in writing the column for tdo weeks, or will our column take a two week vacation as well? It's up to you. Please call me with your news, or anything else you'd like to talk to be about. 'Bye now! happiness in their neew venture. These little guys get out there and play for keeps and they need all of you out there to holler for them. Delia and Frank are former Wonder Lakers now living in Palo Alto, California but they still have many friends here at the lake. Delia writes that she and Frank took a trip East to Cirginia Beach, Va., to visit their son Lynn and his family. They have a new grand daughter and distance means nothing when one has a new grandchild. I'd like to know just why they didn't stop by for a visit here - but we'll go into that later (privately). She and Frank celebrated their 30th anniversary recently and they celebrated in San Francisco with a night on the town. Frank's mother. Mrs. Cheney who was also celebrating her 77th birthday accompanied them. Dan Cheney - younger son of the Frank Cheneys - is now" Private Cheney of the National Guard and will leave for Fort Ord some time in July. Dan was unable to pass the OCS Navy physical because of his eyes so he decided to go into the 6 month reserve program so as not to miss out on too much time from his field of Industrial Design. Dan graduated recently from Stanford.University with special distinction. He plans to continue on in industrial designing after his 6 month stint in the National Guard. Wonder Cente^ Annual Meeting The annual meeting of the Wonder Center Property Owners Association will be held July 7, at the W. L. Fire Station. All Wonder Center property owners are asked to attend. Subdivision dues must be paid by this date. eigh years ago. Since that time their home has been a regular stopping place for any of the Wonder Lakers who were visiting Florida. It won't be the same without him. Their son, Jack lives close by with his family. Their daughter Pat now lives in Houston, Texas. Both are married to former Wonder Lakers. Belate Happy Birthday To John Kocan who celebrated his birthday on June 29th. Jim Pavlik Dies In Florida I'm sure all the "old timers" here at the lake join me in expressing our deepest sympathy ^to the Pavlik family in St. Petersburg, Florida. Jim died of a heart attack while at work on Sunday June 23. The funeral was in St. Petersburg. Jim and Betty and their son Jack and daughter Pat lived here at the lake for many years before moving permanently to Florida about seven or WATER SOFTENER SERVICE SAML BAY SERVICE ON MOST MAKES & MODELS • Service • Rebuilding # Repair # Cleaning Out • Overhauling • Installation # Reconditioning • Removal ALL GUARANTEED WATER SOFTENER SALES NEW -- USED -- REBUILT 385-5546 JCLo McHenry, Illinois NARpOTICS CONVICTIONS Eleven convictions were obtained last month by evidence gathered by inspectors of the Division of Narcotic Control, according to a progress report from the division- to Joseph E. Ragen, director of the Illinois Department of Public Safety. During May, inspectors of the division arrested seven persons. Three were arrested for sale of heroin, one for possession of marihuana, one for obtaining drugs by fraud and deceit, one for illegal sale of hypodermic needles and one for bond forfeiture.
