I lNgt Twmiy THE McHENRY PLAINDEALER Thursday* August 1,1963 HcHenry Shorn FRIENDS OFFER SYMPATHY TO BOB HARPER FAMILY By Bernice WUwb S85-4SM Our condolences go to Bob and Shirley Harper on the sudden passing of Bob's father, Garret Boor, who made his home with the Harpers. He celebrated his seventy-sixth birthday on Sunday and a party was planned for the day but early Sunday morning he had been taken to the hospital in Woodstock where he remained till he passed away on Tuesday of uremic poisoning. Mr. Boor was very active for his years and was an avid fisherman. Most any day he could be found at the pier or channel trying to catch a few fish and always had time to chat with anyone who came along. We are always sorry to report the death of one of our residents. Beach Clean Up On Sunday, August 4, F. Jacek will be in charge of operations down at the beach. Slated to be on hand with their rakes and implements are S. Winters, E. Munroe, W. Partain, R. Mack and T. Middlekauff. This warm weather is bringing plenty of activity to our play area so all hands are qeeded. S.8.A.C. Report A golf tournament was held on July 14 at the McHenry Country Club. After a short rest everyone woat swimming. On Sunday Gordie and Darlene and kids went to a combination anniversary and basket lunch picnic at Deer Park in Arlington Heights in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Plurit's thirty-fifth wedding anniversary. There was quite a large gathering at this affair as Mrs. Plurit's five sisters and their families were all present. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Klein of Kinley Blvd. have been holding open house week for friends, relatives and business acquaintances and have been well supplied with guests popping in. The Kleins are summer residents of the Shores. The Hinzes' daughter, Shirley, husband and children, Allen and Pammy, were weekend gtfests at John and Marie's home and they are going to spend the last two weeks of August up here when they will be on their vacation. Both families will be making Short trips from McHenry during that time. Mr. and Mrs. R. Mech of River Grove visited the Kleins and daughter, Arlene, celebrated her fourteenth birthday up here, and on Wednesday Mr. and Mrs. Kosmella and family spent the day. In between all this activity the Kleins found time to drive to Springfield with the four children and Mrs. Louise Schilz and daughter, Gale, and all visited the many points of interest down there including the log cabin where Lincoln was born and the Lincoln Tomb. They were gone two days and all enjoyed the trip especially the children. My brother, Howard Lowing, and family drove up from Chicago on Tuesday. They brought their three sons, Billy, Kurt and Eric, ranging from age 13 to 7 weeks old. The two oldest boys went swimming and in the evening Howie Lexow took them for a boat ride which was a treat, in fact Billy liked it so much he is coming out to spend a few days with the Lexows. Not a safe gamble, says the Institute for Safer Living. Keep a close check on ^our jtirje tread depth. Never allow' a tire to become "bald." A general rule is to replace a tire before1 90 per cent of the tread has worn off. Our word "window" comes from the old English "wind's eye," which was a long narrow siit in the walls to let wind in, but not big enough for robbers.
