This also to notify you that the association has been issued a thirty day notice that unless tur roads are accessible to the mail delivery vehicle there will be no mail delivery within our community. We all know what horrible condition the toads are in; some of us have already suffered damage to our •wn cars; and for those of you Who didn't know, the rescue squad was damaged the last time it came into the subdivision on an emergency call. I have been asked by the road commissioner in our community, Jim Leahy, to ask each family to please have at ieast flpe member present; both, if possible; and to please bring ftlong a copy of your land contract. They also hope to have S guest speaker for that evening. So please attend; it is Itost urgent. Girl Scout Troop /No. 295 will baby sit for anyl $ne needing a sitter that night, •ither at home or at the school. | Getting Started • Ofr!""Reout Troop 295 held a jnother-daughter meeting on Friday, Sept. 20, to familiarize {he girls and moms with the program change, etc. The troop's first nctual meeting was fold, Thursday, Sept. 26, at my Itome. We have eighteen girls iti the troop thus far, and will pfe happy to welcome more. We •re a Cadette troop, that is, fivelve, thirteen and fourteen year olds, or seventh eighth or llinth grade. I am Girl Scout leader this year and Mrs. Val Patterson, is my much needed and appreciated assistant leader. Our meetings are held on Thursday evenings at my home. Anyone interested in scouting 0iay call me with any question at any time and your help is the only time our Girl Scout news will appear in our subdivision column. Sad To Hear Marge and Louie DeFrancisco received a letter from Mr. and Mrs. Kimbro, and it contained the sad news that their dog, Tony, had died. Tony was their constant companion for fourteen years and we know they will be simply lost without her. „to report this week. May you be blessed with many, many more happy years. Sodality News The Blessed Virgin Sodality of St. John's church will acccpt hew members on Sunday, Oct. 13, before the 8:30 Mass. There is only one anniversary Home And School St. John's Home and School Association held its first meeting of the school year on Monday, Sept. 23. There were ninety people present, including our pastor, Father Dording, all the good Sisters and all but one of our lay teachers. There was an election of officers. They are Pat Brennan as president, Darlene Heuqian as vice-president, Betty Lutz as secretary and Beverly "Lewandowski. The monthly meetings are held on the fourth Monday of the month and as many parents as possible are asked to attend. Hoftpttal Patient We were awfully sorry to learn that young Donald Fiedler was a mighty sick boy. He was in the hospital under oxy: gen for three days with a serious case of double pneumonia. He is now home and possibly will be back in school when this goes into print, but he will have to. be under the doctor's care for awhile yet. She had house guests not only on her birthday, which was Sept. 13, but for three whole days and they had loads of fun. Guests were her mother Mrs. Lillian Hillman, and her sister and family, Bernice and Joe Farina, and children, Darlene and Mike. And to top it all off, her husband, Mel, presented her with a new colonial kitchen set, complete with hutch; and her mother handsewed her canopy curtains tos go with the new set. What a birthday! S.E.H.O.A. News Since Oct. 1, our association has a new treasurer. Jean Gerke took office, thus releasing Fran, who really only stayed in beyond her term of office for lack of someone to replace her. Good luck to you, Jean. Let's all give Jean our cooperation. And, if I'm not mistaken, there will be an association meeting the first Thursday in October.
