Mr. Krohn attended McHenry high school and the Univarsity of Illinois and is office manager for the Montmorency Paper Co. in Chicago. Miss Brown attended the College of New Rochelle and Michigan State university, where she was a member of Delta Gamma sorority. The wedding will take place Nov. 30 in San Francisco, Calif. Community Club . To Meet Nov. 4 The next regular meeting of the Johnsburg Community club will be held Monday, Nov. 4, at 8 o'clock. Due to the importance of this meeting relative to the Thanksgiving celebration and open house on Saturday, Nov. 23, the entire membership is urged to attend. Committee members for this meeting will be notified by special mail. Surprise Party For A. J. Schmltts A surprise party honoring Mr. and Mrs. Anton J. Schmitl of Rt. 31, south of McHenry, on the occasion of their fortieth wedding anniversary was held last week Wednesday at the K. of C. hall. The actual wedding date was Oct. 24. About seventy relatives and friends were present, to enjoy a buffet lunch and a social hour. Among those present were the Schmitt children, Gordon and two sons, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wagner and family, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Vogel and Mr. and Mrs. Richard White and family. Mrs. Axel Schwanke of Colorado Springs, Colo., was unable to be present, but her parents enjoyed a telephone conversation witil her during the party. Honor Whitings On 60th Year Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Whiting will be guests of honor at an open house to be held Sunday, Nov. 3, from 2:30 to 5 o'clock at the Legion hall in Richmond. Friends are invited to attend. The Whitings are well known in the McHenry area, where they made their home for many years. LAKELAND PARK WOMEN PRESENT FASHION REVUE Final preparations are being made by the Lakeland Park Women's club for their style show, "Winter Wonderland of Fashion," to be held Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 8 o'clock at the McHenry Country club. OSMTAL Surprise Shower For Sharon Thlel A surprise bridal shower was given for Miss Sharon Thiel at the home of Arleen Thiel in Johnsburg last Sunday afternoon. Assistant hostess was Mary Thiel. About thirty friends and relatives were present to honor the bride-to-be at the miscellanous shower and to enjoy a buffet supper. Photo A lovely wedding took place last Saturday evening, Oct. 26, at the Community Methodist church when Miss Sharon Ann 1 )owe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Dowe of 1412 W. Richmond road, became the bride of Mr. Ronald R. Vejvoda, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Vejvoda of Antioch. Rev. Carder officiated at the 7:45 o'clock nuptial rite, for which the church was decorated with bouquets of white mums. The pretty bride walked down the aisle wearing a peaude- soie taffeta dress with round neckline, long sleeves and lace flowers embroidered with pearls on her bouffant skirt. Mrs. Joseph Moulis, III, sister of the bride, acted as malron of honor, wearing a pink organza dress over taffeta, styled with round neckline and bouffant skirt. Donald E. Dowe, brother of the bride, served as best man. Mrs. Dowe selected for her daughter's wedding a blue lace over taffeta sheath dress. Mrs. Vejvoda wore an aqua silk dress. A reception followed in the church hall, attended! by 130 uests, after which the couple >ft on a trip to Estes Park, alo., and upon their return will reside at 3810 W. Maple street, McHenry. The bride's mother baked and decorated the beautiful cake served at the reception. Both the bride and groom are employed by the Jewel Tea company. Riverside Drive, McHenry, became the bride of Mr. Duane E. Schneider of 810 W. Rand road, McHenry, son of Mrs. Florence Schneider of Elgin. Rev. Fr. Eugene Parker officiated at the 11:30 o'clock nuptial rite, for which the children's choir sang. The altars wers.decorated for the occasion with bouquets of white flowers. Pretty, dark-haired Miss Pierolti chose a while satin bridal gown, featuring , an imported lace bo(ftWf?^Her cathedral length veil, fashioned with a satin bow, was designed by the bride, who carried a cascade bouquet of- vellow roses. Attending the bride were Janice Schneider of Elgin, sister of the groom, as maid of honor, and Delores Rogers of McHenry, as bridesmaid. The pretty flower girl was Cindy Giannitte of Steger. The adult attendants wore street length m i n t g r e e n s a t i n d r e s s e s w i t h detachable over-skirts, with which they wore matching accessories and mint green bow headpieccs. Mrs. Pierotti selecied an antique gold sheath dress with which she wore a matching hat and taupe accessories. Her corsage was an orchid. Mrs. Schneider wa.i attired in a blue sheath dress, matching hat and accessories and an orchid corsage. Dinner was served to the bridal couple at 1:30 o'clock, and later 150 guests gathered for a reception held at the McHenry Country club. The newlyweds will reside at 423 Lily Lane, McHenry. The bride attended McHenry and Richmond high schools. The groom received his education at Whitewater high school, Wis., and Whitewater Teachers college. He is self employed in the restaurant business in the Lakemoor area. WOMAN'S CLUB TO SPONSOfT"MEETING IN HOLIDAY MOOD Christmas is seven weeks away, but as usual, many a harried housewife will be faced in the last few days with the task of decorating her home. The McHenry Garden club is providing a timely answer to this problem on Thursday, Nov. 14 at 1 o'clock. Mrs. George H. Gardner has been enticed into giving a demonstration of making many attractive decorations from simple to elaborate. She will use materials available in the local shops and show how easily they can be made into beautiful objects to enhance the home. Mrs. Gardner is well known for her many activities related to gardening. She was horticulture chairman for one of the most successful flower shows given by the Garden Club of Illinois and is now chairman in charge of awarding scholarships to deserving horticulture students. Along with all of this, she finds time to decorate one of Chicago's largest hospitals for the holidays. All are welcome. The program will be social as well as instructive and will be held in the recreation room of the Methodist church, with dessert to be served. A small contribution will be asked. The winning team seldom finds fault with the referee's opinions. The McHenry County Panhellenic association will sponsor its third annual benefit card party on Nov. 7 at 7:30 o'clock in the high school cafeteria. Money derived from the event will benefit the Panhellenic scholarship fund, which each year provides a scholarship to a deserving McHenry girl upon her graduation. ^ The group will serve a dessert before the card playing begins, with a prize for each table. Also during the evening, a variety of fashions from the Casual shoppe will be shown. All McHenry residents are invited to attend and help raise money for this worthy cause. Tickets may be purchased from any Panhellenic member or at the door on Nov. 7. The time and place of the card party and fashion revue have been changed due to the P.T.A. groups holding open house on Nov. 14.
