Patzke Phone 385-3278 Strolling Through The Park Mighty glad to hear that Lloyd Wagner has improved so much. Last we heard from his wife, Jerry, Lloyd was expected to be allowed to come home in time to enjoy turkey. We've had another Tripoley Club going for quite some time now but juSt learned all the ladies names. Enjoying one anothers company and many goodies as well as the game are; Wilma Atkinson, Marian Duffy, Sue Funk, Gayle Laursen, Mickey Gladman and Lorraine Arient. Our community's original Tripoley Club met at the home of Ann Herzog last week, Ann did her usual good job of helping to add to the caloric intake of the following ladies, Delia Julian, Ruth McMahon, Edna Hountras, Grace MandzUfra, Ivy Lezak, Helen Kraskiewicz and Viola Bull, mother of Grace Mandziara, who hails from Wisconsin and is spending the holiday. These ladies alway have a good time. Bette Kamp has been working like a beaver since Monday, she has already gotten sixty gifts for Dixon wrapped and tagged. Mary Daurio has been working very hard, getting many promises from her fellow workers at McHenry hospital for gifts. Sue Grizely gave many clothing items and a great variety of stuffed animals. Stella Mendyk gave many new gaiYies, balls and etc. You can see people are interested in helping others. Stella calls Wonder Lake home but reads our column and we want her to know how grateful the Scouts are, along with all of our people who are working so hard to make it a success. Bev Worm and Delores Belohlavy were co-hostesses at a baby shower for Lou Jones last week. The girls all chipped in and got Lou a robe and slippers for herself and a sweater set, diapers and rubber pants for the baby. This sounds like a grand idea, for what motherto- be doesn't need a new robe [and slippers for the hospital. The girls played scramble word games with woid.s associated with babies and with baby namcr. For instance, what would "ilo" mean, (oil). Sounds like fun. Coffee and cake and punch were served to the following ladies, Dottie Becker, Lordta Jarman, Do Myers, Pat Seat on, Marie Lindquist, Mrs. Sheahan, Millie Schmidt, Dorothy Uttich, Virg Groto, Ann Dawson, Betty Bookman. Irene Cok1 and Delores Rogers were unable to attend. Can you imagine how anyone could lock their car keys inside their car. Well, it can be done as two ladies from our subdivision can verify^ n happened last week in a|l{ that rain, at a distant shoppinf center. Lucky for them aw^kind state policeman helped Jthem out of their predicament although it took almost two hours.- I don't think it will happen again, at least not to these two ladies. day, Dec. 3. yqu all there. ;' » y ' LPPOA General Meeting The next general meeting of the LPPOA will be held on Monday, Dec. 9, at 8 p.m. at the community house. Everyone has been asking for evening meetings so let's all try to make this one. Mark your calendar right now.. Brownies Our Brownies will officially become Brownies on Dec. 3, when they will be invested at a tea for the mothers. Dee Barwig and Barbara Meurer have planned refreshments and the girls will be invested in a short program. We hope all the girls who have been sick will be back on their feet by that time and that no new ones will have come down sick. The lea will be hold at Mrs. Quast's home at the regular meeting time 3:15 p.m. Tuesdirl Scouts We received a plea from Mrs. Johnson, one of the Girl Scout leaders. The girls are working on "Diddle Bags" to be given to residents of Dixon and need plastic bleach bottles, either quart or half-gallon size. They are als^ in need of one pound coffee cans with the tops and Oatmeal boxes and remnants of any material you may have. Hope many of you can come up with an item or two to help them out. These things just end up in the garbage so why not see them put to good use by the girls. The girls will pick them up if you'll just, give a call to Mrs. jfhnson at 385- 6504 or Mrs. Dowall at 385- 5876. The Girl Scouts are planning for their investiture which is set up for Sunday, Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. There are many things coming up in the next few weeks, such trimming a Christmas tree in town at the railroad station with the troop at the church. They will also take a hike on that same day. "Happy Thanksgiving" "Over the river and through the dell, to grandmother's house w» go," those words have been said and sung by generations. The mode of transportation has changed considerably over the ages but the spirit has remained. We earnestly urge cur residents to start off' the day the way it should be by attending the church services of'their choice and really show The Man upstairs that you are thankful for His many blessings. Sure we all hav? our share of troubles, sometimes they seem insuferable but if we take the time to look around we can always find someone worse off and we've reasons to be thankful. Take a moment in your holiday and look around, We're sure the original meaning of Thanksgiving will be visible to you. To all of you who are driving, have a wonderful day but make that one for the road, coffee. We both want to wish you and yotirs nothing but the most wonderful Thanksgiving that's possible. Now you don't. When a Chevy II does that kind of disappearing act you know without looking twice: It's a '64 with a V8 engine. That's right. A full-grown 195-hp Turbo-Fire V8.* It's available for the first time this year along with a choice of three other engines--the standard 4 (in 100 Series sedans), the standard 6 and a new 155-hp 6. * (And all of them, happily, maintai i their high spirits on modest amounts of regular gasoline.) You can take this V8 through the gears most any way you choose -- with personal encouragement from a finely honed 4-speed shift* if you like. But the changes that have come over this new Chevy II aren't by any means confined to what happens when you slip into the driver's seat. There are new styling features like the tasteful grille design and trim accents, for instance. And the larger self-adjusting brakes that further reduce upkeep on a car that already has a reputation of coming about as close to perpetual motion as anything on four wheels can get. The place to get the full details on the '64 is your Chevrolet dealer's. And after you've got them, we hope you'll attend to one further detail yourself.
