Grandma and Grandpa Funk spent the day out here with Sue, Ron and their children and Sue's mother, Mrs. Roth. Gayle and Bob Laursen hadv a house full of guests for Christmas Day. The Gladmans, very happy to have Ed feeling better, spent the day with. "Mickey's sister and all the rest of the. family. How many times this year have you heard people express themselves like this: "It just doesn't seem like Christmas, I have no Christmas spirit at all?" We heard it quite often and it seemed to be the feeling of so very many people from so many different walks of life. What has happened? Is it T.V. and stores rushing us into the. buying of gifts as early as Halloween? The true meaning of the day seems to be being pushed in the background and it truly is a shame. The phrase, "Exchanging gifts," is a pet gripe of ours. We have always thought that the true meaning of a gift was that you gave because you wanted to do so, not for what you would get in return. God gave us His Son on Dec. 25 without asking us what we were going to give him in return and that, too, seems to be forgotten. It's just a thought but maybe if enough of us all started to write let* ters to stores and people of importance we could once again enjoy each and every holiday as it comes. The Kamps helped Grandma Druml celebrate her birthday last Monday.
