They arrived about 8 p.m. to start off the evening A card game was in progress most of the evening, at least until midnight when Mrs. Matthews served pizza burgers, french fries and birthday cake. The boys were theft told to turn in which must have been the signal for the war to start. BeBe's were flying from one end of the room to the other until Mr. Matthews called a halt. The boys really had a great time. A card party was held at the Laursen home last Saturday with the Gladmans, Funks, Duffys and Wilma Atkinson enjoying the fun. The men played poker downstairs while the women played upstairs. Later in the evening, hot beef sandwiches were served. Girl Scouts At the beginning of our meeting we learned some greetings in French. They were, "Hello,", "Thank You,"' and "Please." Then Mrs. Hulbert came over with her rock collection which was really a beautiful one. Each Girl Scout received a small sample of a certain kind of rock and one of another kind. Sympathy A lot of children from around Prairie Avenue and Meadowlane will be saddened to hear that the little, old lady in the brown house has passed away. Mrs. Frances Primozick, address was 4715 W. Prairie, passed away at the Valley High Nursing home where she has been a resident for the last 4 months. She was 82 years old. Our deepest. sympathy goes to Ken Boyce on the death last week of his wife, Bernice. The Boyces were longtime members of our community and Bernice was a past-president of our Women's Club. Her death was a great shock to her many friends here. All parents are urged and invited to attend. Baseball season is getting mighty close, go see if you can help out this coming season. Strolling Through The Park The weather man didn't cooperate one tiny speck on Sunday for the Heart Fund door to door donation pick up, but neither did a great many people. It's very disheartening for those collecting to knock on a door and see the people inside, and have them not even come to the door. This was also % complaint during the C.P. drive, that was also a miserable day weather wise. The women and Scouts who were out just couldn't understand how people can be so discourteous by not answering their knock. So you give or you just can't do so, at least answer their knock and tell them so. They try so hard to help out organizations and deserve a pat on the back, not ignored. Evie Ficek helped out our Girl Scout troop with many asked for bleach bottles, bottle caps and things they have been asking for as did Ann Wardzala. The Girl Scouts wish to express their gratitude to them. Evie asked us to remind everyone to save those cola caps. The plus ones are being taken by school youngsters now but she still needs even the ones that do not have the plus sign on them. Also, used nylon stockings are needed. These things can be turned in at any Boy Scout meeting on Tuesday evenings. We only throw these things away so save them for these groups who will see' that they are put to good use. Lat Saturday, Ann Herzog was hostess to Grace and Ed Mandziara, Edna and Tom Hountras and Delia Julian. The group enjoyed playing pinochle into the wee hours of the morning. Guess if we could play and receive the cards ^hat they did we'd play all night too. There were several hands of 800 Kings and several with 1000 Aces. Quite an eventful evening was that one and they'll be talking about it for a real long time. At the meeting of the Campers Club last Tuesday two movies were shown to twentyeight interested campers.
