Girl Scouts of troops 44 and 88 on Sunday, Maf%h 8, at their banquet in Fox Lake. The traditional flag ceremony opened the program, followed by a prayer by Reverend Donecke of Mount Hope Methodist church. Mary Anne Beebe, executive director of Sybaquay Council, and Jean Weyland, chairman of Valley View Neighborhood, each delivered a message to the scouts and their parents. Troop 44's Scouts Own was followed by a Court of Awards at which forty-seven badges \vere distributed. Leaders Claudia Garn (88) and Frances Groth and Rosemary Thetan (44) introduced their committee women and expressed their gratitude for their invaluable service arid assistance. "Troop 88's Mutiny", Written, cjirected, and produced by Claudia Garn, was presented by the Troop 88 Players, Uninc. True to the nation's norm, the defense attorney who incessantly repeated, "I object", stole the show. ( -- and didn't flub a single line! !) A group rendering of a repertoire of scout songs delighted the parents. Father Weideman of St. John's church gave the closing prayer. A bag game filled the period of the waiting game, and the excellent beef dinner was the payoff for both. And thus "Day is done . . . " and a lovely entry in the book of memories. Chris Fail attended the Baptist General Conference Workshop on March 7 at the Emmanual Baptist church in kegan. .Of the many .setfsidns offered, Chris attended those pertaining to pre-schoolers, to assist her in her Sunday School duties with that age level. They all attended chapel twice during the day-long affair and a lovely smorgasbord was served at noon. A very beneficial day, she reports. Candle Capers Cathy Davis recorded the events of her eighth birthday party with the camera she received from her parents. Karen Kennebeck, Pam DeFran cisco, Gail McDonald, and Kathy Hadley shared the cake and ice cream and root beer, and most important, the fun and laughter. Tommy Fry got eleven spanks from his Dad on the 6th, and then they were joined by Teddy Jost for an evening of roller skating. He rapidly assembled the solar cell radio he received and gets great pleasure in playing it now either by sun or battery. Dorothy Ann Kayler had plenty of sweets for her 16th: two cakes. Her aunt and family came out to share her big day which netted her money, a jacket, and some Beatles books. Kathy Gerstein's was a slumber party attended by Kasy Anderson, Darlene Gerke, and Cindy Stull on March 6. After cake and ice cream the fun and story telling continued 'til ^10:30 p.m. -- and be^an all over again at 4 a.m. wheh one wrong roll set off a chaih reaction that woke the whole group. Naturally, there was no sense in going back to sleep then, so they made'3" breakfast and continued the party. Kathy was thi^lled with her parent's gift of a doll complete with bassinette and layette. Jim Leahy had a SEHOA directors meeting on his birthday. Mmmm. Livin' high. Having no plans for her birthday, Rose Felicetti was pleasantly surprised to find others had plans for her. Ruth Dettlow, La Verne Noah and Tina Bellino dropped in with gifts on the 9th. Then on the 11th Jackie Smolinski came by with a cake and gift. Of the many cards she received, the loveliest came from son, Louie. Tom's folks sent her a package from California, and she was especially pleased with an acorn shaped milk glass ash tray she received. "An esi>ecially nice -birthday,". said Rose. Cindy Krzyzak's first birthday party was shared by Mrs. Ruth Smith; Karen, Chuck and Danny Schneider; Helen Steve, Carol, Kathy and Gary Wegner and Eleanor, Tommy and Ronnie Fiedler, and of. course Mommie Grace and new-born Annmarie. Cindy got two new teeth for big day - - also lots of clothes. Patty Anderson's impromtu party brought Kelly Bute and Maureen and Monica Davis in to join the blowing bout. And she got what she'd been waiting for: a bike. Timmy Maule didn't want his cake and ice cream on his second birthday. That's a switch. Knee deep in laundry, etc. . , Alice Bieschke was surprised by the visit of three scouts on the day before her birthday. The girls had prompted Ray to have a decora tejcl cake ready, and missing what they thought would be an obvious clue for Alice to come upstairs, the candle nearly burned to nothing before Alice emerged from her chores. They played games and had a lovely afternoon. Sittin' and knittin' filled the following day.
