Emitt is one swell fellow and we are all glad he is home again. Birthday Celebration For Guild Members When the Pink Ladies Sewing Guild of the Women's Auxiliary to the McHenry hospital met in the home of Marion Carlson last week, four members birthdays were celebrated. A huge, beautifully decorated cake honoring the natal days of the hostess, Marion, Lilah Jordan, Tillie Ahrens and Mildred Kennedy was served along with a tasty pot-luck luncheon. Among the seventeen members present from this area besides Tillie and Mildred was Esther Knapp. Games and prizes were the afternoon's highlight. Enjoys Short Jaunt Mrs. Judy Oeffling and her children took off for Elgin last Wednesday to visit her sister. While there they spent some interesting hours in the Elgin library. On Thursday the group traveled to Bensenville to visit another of Judy's sisters. They all spent an enjoyable time at the Brookfield Zoo. Also, on the day's agenda was Wilder Park and the Lazzardo Museum in Elmhurst along with the watching of planes taking off at O'Hare field. Frank picked his family up on Friday evening. The three day outing was young Frankie's First Holy Communion Day present from his family. I'm very sure he appreciated it too. A Note Of Sadness We all take this opportunity to express our sincere sympathies to the surviving members of the Joseph King family. Mr. King passed away last week in the McHenry hospital. He leaves a son and three daughters to mourn him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, in November, 1963. Funeral services were conducted from St. John's church on Saturday with -inreni\ent in the church cemetery. Words cannot express our feelings for the family at this time. Rescue Squad Calls Within the last week our own Johnsburg Rescue Squad was called out twice to lend medical assistance; On May 4, thev were summoned to Pistakee Hills where a resident suffered a possible heart attack. The victim was taken to the McHenry hospital by the ""rescue squad ambulance. This was at 12.45 p.m. At 11:05 p.m. on May 7, a car hit a utility pole near the Pistakee golf course. The occupants were taken care of by the sheriff's patrol. The running count has now risen to 2,357. Legion Tournament The current Legion tournament got underway on May 3. St. Mary's played St. John's on the Johnsburg diamond last week and our team came out on top of a 5 to 3 score. St. John's will be in the final championship game on May 21. Enjoyable Mother's Day Marie Oeffling spent a very nice Mother's Day in the home of her daughter and family, the Ronnie Conways. Others present were Al, of course, Phil and Julie Oeffling, the Ed. Tonyan family, the Tom Oeffling family and Marty and Ginny Conway. They also celebrated little Danny Conway's third birthday. The entire group enjoyed eating dinner out of doors as long as the weather was so beautiful. Congratulations Corner Belated anniversary wishes to Fred and Louise Smith and Arnie and Clara Michels who share April 27 as their anniversary date. The foursome had a delightful time last Saturday by having dinner out. Happy birthday wishes to Joe Hettermann who will be "of age" (21 that is) on May 21. Fifteen years of "togetherness" is what Richard and Catherine Dehn will be celebrating on May 28. Come May 27 Ted Stilling will be 15 years old. Little Douglas Oeffling will be a big four years old on May 23. Best wishes to all our celebrants.
