Thursday. July 2, 1964 THE McHENRY PLAINDEALER LAKEMOOR-LILYMOOR SHIRLEY SCHUERR 885-2645 VILLAGE MEETING POSTPONED WEEK DURING JULY Residents of Lakemoor are reminded that the village meeting for the month of July has been changed to the third Thursday of the month instead of the second Thursday. The meeting is Thursday, July 16. The August meeting will be the regular second Thursday of the month. "Here Conies The Bride •*. . " A lovely bridal shower was arranged for our new bride, Nancy Godina, by Emma Kunz, Diana Rosbough, Virginia Jordon, Kay Godina, Doris Kibbe and Helen Para. The shower was held at the home of Emma Kunz and Nancy received "loads" of beautiful and useful gifts. There were approximately forty guests, representing Lakeland Park, Johnsburg and McHenry, besides her hometown of Lakemoor. Nancy Godina and James Hager, both of Lakemoor, were married Saturday, June 27, with the reception being held on Sunday. The newlyweds are keeping their honeymoon spot a secret, but will reside in Lakemoor upon their return. Lots of good luck in your new life! Barking Dogs I have received several phone calls complaining about dogs barking into the wee hours of the morning, keeping people awake. Owners, please keep your dogs quiet. Many of the people complaining are working people. They cannot miss a good night sleep and try and work the next day. Deepest Sympathies No words can express our deepest sympathies to the Rhoton family. Alvin Rhoton passed away Wednesday, June 24 at the Harvard hospital He is survived by his children Mrs. Carol Thomason, Mrs. Mardeen Lendemann of Mundelein, four sons, Emil, RUssell, Jerry of McHenry and Pfc. Jessie of the Marines. Mr. Alvin Rhoton had been a resident of Lakemoor for a short time. Welcome Guests Bell Normand of LakemoOr* had very welcome guests. Her daughter and grand-daughter, Evelyn and Bernadette Molter, spent Tuesday with Bell. They did it up royally by browsing through the antique shops of Long Grove and topped the day off with a luncheon. Revere Rides Again Paul Revere had nothing on the Lilymoor folks. After launching their boat, Marion Leske and Connie Johnson took t.o the land, while Don, little Gary and Anna Mary took to the sea ... to meet in Antioch. Well, by some quirk of fate the gals made a wrong turn and ended up touring the McHenry county "Beef" ranges! Eventually, they did arrive at Channel Lake, where they joined Don, Anna Mary, Gary, Don's sister, Lorraine, and her husband, Roy Tuma, of Melrose Park, and their adorable daughter, Jayme, Boating and a <picnic followed. Sunday was a repeat performance, with Sharon Tuma, Gary, Sr., Grace Leske and "Gramps" Gruedel joining the Leskes and the'Tumas. Surprised As Marion Vornkahl opened her door last Friday she was very f [surprised to see her friends, Paul and Lorraine Durnane, of Homestead, Fla. It's been about fourteen years since Marion has seen Paul and Lorraine. Birthday Party Donna Schiavone celebrated her eleventh birthday with an outdoor birthday party. Besides her grandmother, Mary Schiavone, many girls helped Donna celebrate her big day. Hale And Hearty Another happy birthday has just passed for "Gramps", Peter Gruedel. He just celebrated his ninety-third birthday on Wednesday, June 24! "Gramps" sure keeps active! H^ keeps house, takes frequent strolls through the subdivision, and has a green thumb. His vegetable garden is a "beaut"! And last Sunday he was a "salty sailor". Don and Marion Leske are among his favorite grandchildren. Yours for lots more happy birthdays! Lilymoor Rumblings Spotted Helene Richards hard at work among the flower beds ... oh my aching back!!! Young children on the streets at midnight, when they should be in bed. Shame!!! Know that Herb, Marge and Kathy Polinski were out on their boat the past weekend. Can easily tell by the sunburn Marge is sporting!!! Happy to see tfie Ryans out for the summer. A vacation for the kids, but, oh poor mom! Open Meeting Don't miss the Lilymoor woman's auxiliary meeting, Monday, July 6, at the Club Lilymoor hall. We are having Mrs. Tom (Boots) Davis as speaker that night and her topic is "Party Structure." Their son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Esther, and family of Fox Lake spent Father's day with them. A guest last Wednesday was Josephine's brother, Joe Wiorek, of Chicago. Staying with Walter and Josephine for awhile is Josephine's sister, Mrs. Kate Casewick, of Chicago. ' Another New Neighbor We welcome „ another new resident to Lilymoor. He is Alfred Schiller of Chicago and a cousin of Hal Vornkahl. Alfred has purchased the Underwood house on Glenwood drive and is sure a hard working, handyman! Welcome, AI. Happy Father's Day Ed. Krich came out to visit the fol|js, Pearle and AI Stineman, on Father's Day. They spent the afternoon sightseeing at the Waukegan-Zion State Park and topped the evening off with some boating with Connie Johnson. Rain doesn't stop these outdoor folks! But they're engineered as solidly as the ones that do. ityfc" • ,7 <• V i'W:: v Swedish Aircraft Company, Ltd. builds all kinds of SAABs. Some fly at Mach 2 and help defend Sweden. Others race the roads of Scandinavia, Europe and America; they get 28-38 mpg and win more rallies than any other car in the world. They are superbly engineered to traditional aircraft reliability and performance standards. SAAB automobiles have: • 3-cylinder valveless engines (strange but amazingly efficient). • front-wheel drive (superlative road traction). • abundant safety features (reinforced heavy steel unitized body, padded dash and visors, new dualbraking system, etc.). • $265 worth of "standard extras" that other cars call options. • a 2-year or 24,000-mile warranty on engine, transmission and differential* If you've been wondering what happened to sound automotive engineering, you'll find a lot of it went to Sweden.
