This lake is 15 miles long and has 125 pine covered islands and is the location the film company stayed while filming the beer commercial used during the TV ball games. They came home to a nice surprise as Trent had won the Fiesta Day prize which came in very handy last weekend when a family reunion was held at their home in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Ken Mills qnd son, Bill, of Portland, Oregon. Mr. Mills is Trent's nephew and Mrs. Mills is Irene's niece. Ctthers attending the family picnic were Trent, Jr., and ;wife, Barbara, and t heir t hree "chit-' dren from Wheeling. If anyone has taken them for safekeeping please call 7280 and she will be happy to pick them up. Activltleg In The Shores Doris and Fred Wetzel took the boys, Timmy and Mike, to Brookfield Zoo Tuesday. Tired from all the walking around they stopped at O'Hare on the way back and watched the planes landing and departing which was a big thrill for Tim. On Wednesday they attended the Cubs ball game and then took Sandy to see Buckingham Fountain. Barb and Ray Pogor had guests from Chicago Sunday. Henry Schaffrath, Barb's dad, Henry and Marge Schaffrath, Barb's brother and his wife and their three girls and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Cynar and their fou^r children. It was the first visit for Barb's sister-in-law and she really enjoyed the beach and all the peace and quiet. The day ended with a hot turkey and beef dinner. The Olbinski family attended a company picnic Saturday at Caldwell Forest Preserve in Chicago. Our Gerry was the heroine of the day when she rescued a six year old boy who fell into the creek, and then both were rescued by husbahd, Ed. Although wet and a little muddy all was worth while when she received a trophy for her heroism. Daisy and John Smith enjoyed a dinner Wednesday evening at the home of their youngest son, Daniel, in Highland Park. Daniel is mustering out of the Navy after 20 years of service at Glenview and his wife and two children, Robert and Michael, are looking forward to having daddy home with them. Elsie and Jack Schmitt and the children drove to Florida for a vacation and a visit with Elsie's folks in Largo, then to Ft. Meyers and the Ringling Bros, circus training grounds which was fun for the children, on to Miami and Ft. Lauderdale and then home. The kids enjoyed the swimming in the Gulf as it was quite different than the Fox River. Jack says it rained every day but only for a short period and then it would clear up and get nice, and the entire family had a good time and a refreshing change. Lucille and Marshall Jacobs drove up to Milwaukee for a few days to enjoy the last few days of their vacation. Lucille spent the first part of the week doing chores in the house and was happy to get away* to swim and have a wonderful time in Wisconsin before going back to work. Last Saturday night Daisy went to the VJ Day Bail at the Woodstock VFW hall and witnessed the crowning of the Queen for 1964. On Sunday she marched in the parade with ^the 5th district and later attended dinner at the Elks Home in Woodstock honoring Governor Kerner, after which they went to the high school field and watched the program. 'Pageant of Drums'. They are preparing to visit Mr. Duncan in Zion today and will let us know how he is for next week's column. Four of our Shores couples attended a luau given by the U.S. Chain of Lakes Power Squadron and held in the American Legion Hall in Fox Lake. The Dale Jenners, Mickey Mc- Dermotts, Don Calvert s and Gerald Mieritz were all dressed up in colorful Hawaiian costumes and grass skirts and Don Calvert won the prize ih the men's contest for dancing J^he hula.
