Thursday, September 10, 1964 THE MCHENHY PLAINDEALEB Section Two -r- Pago Fjjvn JOHNSBURG NEWS BBRI HETTERMANN 988-1886 COMMUNITY CLUB HOLDS POSTPONED MEETING SEPT. 14 Because of the Labor Day jioliday the Johnsburg Community Club has . postponed their regular meeting until Monday, Sept. 14, at 8 :30 p.m. Committee for this night will be informed. All members are urged to be on hand for this particular meeting as there are many business topics to be discussed. Lady Forester Notes Members and officers of St. Agatha court 777 will hold their next meeting in the community club hall on Tuesday evening, Sept. 15. At this time the "Price is Right" will be the evening's highlight. Serving on the committee will be Clara Tonyan, kenora Miller, Dorothy Hiller, Veronica Klein, Eva Schaefer, Agatha Thelen, Lois Johnson and Pat Brennan.- Please keep in mind the luncheon and card party coming up on Sept. 16. Members should have their reservations in to Marie Oeffling or Virginia Pitzen, no later than Sept. 13. This event will be held at 11:45 a.m. in the Chapel Hill Country club. • .*> On a recent Friday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Freund, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Schaefer, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Oeffling, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Dehn, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Freund, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Pitzen, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank May attended the first annual fraternal night with the Milwaukee Braves at the county stadium in Milwaukee. The W.C.O.F. is one of the societies who participated in this fraternal night. Preceding the ball game, various bands and drum and bugle corps entertained. Retreat Championship Three big cheers for Hettermann's saftball team who once again ended up on top at the end of the season. Not only did they take first place in the league but they were also the play-off champions. We extended thefn sincere congratulations and hope they can come right back and do it again next year. • Infant Presented At Font The infant daughter of Bill and Sharon Dust was baptized last Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. by Father Dording in St. John's church. Lynette Marie had as godparents an aunt and uncle, Norman Dust and Joyce Thiel. Later in the day the sponsors, their wife and fiance and the grandparents were present in the Dust home for a buffet supper. Little Lynnette returned to her home within the last week from the hospital where she has been confined since her premature birth. Lois Thelen and Dan and Betty Schmitt. Best wishes to all Birthday number thirteen is coming up for Jean Hettermann on Sept. 17. "Happy Birthday" to Jean and anyone who may be celebrating in this month of September. Something To Mark On Your Calendar Circle the day of the Blessed Virgin Sodality luncheon and card party. The afternoon of enjoyment will get under way at noon in the community club hall. The public is cordially invited to participate. The proceeds will be used for a most worthwhile cause -- our good Sisters' new convent furnishings. Please cooperate and make this endeavore a huge success. Ladies Leape Resumes ' Bowling' The T.N.T. ladies bowling league will start thejr fall season on Thursday evening, Sept. 10, at 7:30. Better get those shoes and ball all shined up girls a long season is about to get underway once more. Good luck to all twelve teams who will be bowling together at this time spot. Last Meeting For Executive Board This month's meeting of the executive board of the Johnsburgh Public school P.T.A., was held in the home of Ginny Covalt. This meeting concluded the long summer of preparation to provide informative and enjoyable programs for all. Watch for the various subjects which will be discussed in the future P.T.A. meetings. • • Congratulations Corner The trio celebrating anniversaries this month are Harry and LuAnn Smith, Harry and Rescue Squad Calls Three calls were answered this past week by our Johnsburg rescue squad members. On Sept. 1 two calls summoned them out in a hurry. The first was in Sunnyside at 3 p.m., this involved two cars in a collision. One of the occupants was taken to the Mc- Henry hospital in the squad ambulance with possible back injuries . At 4:45 p.m. the same afternoon the members were called out once again. This time it was to a scene near Worthmore Estates. A young boy was struck by a car and received serious injuries. He was taken to the McHenry hospital by an ambulance and later t r a n s f e r r e d to C h i c a g o , On Sept. 2, a Pistakee Highlands man was stung by a bee while in his yard. The victim suffered respiratory difficulty. A doctor was called to the scene and the man was removed to the hospital. The running count has now risen to just one call short of 2,400--2,399 to be exact. Let's hope these calls will soon be on descending trend instead of increasing. Busy Household The home of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Smith has been and will be quite busy. Mr. Smith who had been ill is now up and out of doors once again. He will be celebrating his birthday on Sept. 8. Belated wishes to him. Recently they had as guests in their home Mrs. Robert Smeltzer and family and Mrs. Edna Goetschell. Over last weekend their visitors were Ann Doran of Chicago and the Robert Zimmermann family of Beloit. These are Mrs. Smith's sisters and her son and daughter. Closing time sure came up fast this week. This column is a little short because of the early holiday deadline. Be sure to make it bigger next week by calling me with your items no later than Monday noon, Sept. 14. Hope you all had a real nice Labor Day Holiday. There really isn't such a thing as a holiday from labor -- do you think so? SPRING SHOVE NEWS EVA FREUND 678-7185 Rummage Sale September 26 The family and education committee of the Christian Mothers Society of St. Peter's is making plans for their annual rummage sale to be held in the parish hall on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Anyone wishing to contribute to the rummage sale with clothing or any white elephants you may have around the house, please bring them to the hail or contact Mrs. Virginia Thornton. Coffee and rolls will be served at the rummage sale. Meeting On September 17 The regular meeting of the Christian Mothers Society will be held on Thursday evening, Sept. 17, at 8 a.m. For the evening's program slides of J he New York World's Fair will be shown by Miss Sah Hanssen. A lunch will be served. Country Fair At DeKalb A country fair and farmers market plus a flower and garden show will be held at 512 Normal Rd., DeKalb, 111. for the benefit of the Newman Catholic Youth Center on Sept. 18, 19 and 20. There will be booths of fancy work, candies, farm produce, parcel post, etc A fish pond and lucky garden walk. A new feature is the Newman Bonnet Boutique where you may choose your new fall and winter hat. Snacks and dinners will be served. Schedules are Friday from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m Shower Miss Rita Popclka, who will be an autumn bride, was guest of honor at a shower held for her at town hall last Sunday. Friends and relatives gathered and presented her with many beautiful and useful gifts. A lunch was served. Returns To Loyola Shirley Dawson, who has been vacationing at her home here the past two weeks, has returned to her duties as house mother of Stebler Hall at Loyola University, Chicago. Attend Fair The William Thornton family enjoyed a visit with relatives in Springfield and attended the Ilinois State Fair while there.
