The budget calls for $171,940 for the education fund compared 1o $169,949 last ytjar. The reason for the increase was primarily due to the addition of classroom teachers, increases in salaries and employment of a speech correct ionist. The latter is shared with Gavin school, which will eventually reimburse Big Hollow for its proportionate share of service. In the transportation fund of the budget, the figure for the 1964-65 year is $11,520 compared to $9,850 the previous year. This increase is due mainly to the fact that additional service is being made in DISTRICT LEGION AUXILIARY WILL . The building fund calls for $38,283 for the year ahead compared to $64,838 a year before. This fund stilf reflects some money received from the state as a result of the highway expansion program. Major school site work has been completed but there are still some improvements required. The levy figures approved were $95,000 compared to $85,- 000 last year for education; $10,000 compared to $15,000 last year for building; and $2,500, the same as last year for transportation. In regular business, the board authorized Supt. E. H. Taveirne to seek faculty candidates for third and sixth grade classes because the enrollment makes them too large for single rooms. It is hoped that teachers will be available as soon as new rooms are completed, which is expected to be on or before Oct. 15. Also authorized was purchase of plastic drapes for both new and old classrooms. Visualcraft of Blue Island was considered the best bid at $2,358.
