The newly elected officers We chairman, Fred Woodbury, vice-chairman, Carl Hagerup, recording-secretary, Kay Mitchell, treasurer, Dottle Messer, corresponding secretary, Lois Ryan, sergeant-atarms, Carl Scheaffer, and board of directors, Richard Weigman. Subjects discussed at the meeting after elections were a toboggan slide, bus shelters, and our own little league. In order to accomplish anything at all towards these things we need the help of all of you so if you are interested in such tasks please come out to the meetings and give them your help. You need only sign the register at a meeting to become a member. While there ask for your free vehicle stickers too. Come on out and meet the people and join them in making this a good, well run community in which to live. The meetings are held on the third Friday of each month. Fall Ball The Fall Ball was held at the barn Saturday night. More attended than expected with other doings held in McHenry on this same evening. They had a really wonderful time dancing to the latest records and just getting together for an evening of fun. Junior Legion News In last week's Plaindealer there was a picture of the new Legion auxiliary officers. Two of these young ladies reside in our Manor. The assistant sergeant- at-arms is Martha Simpson and the secretary is Cathy Durkin. EUGENE TINKLER This is a photo of Eugene Tinkler; newly elected president of the Eastwood Manor Teen Club. FRED WOODBURY This is a picture of Fred Woodbury. He was elected E.M.P.O.A. president Friday evening. Sympathy We wish to extend deep sympathy to the Richard Rad family on the passing away of his uncle, John Youngren of Mount Prespect. He died of a cerebral hemorrhage at the age of forty Friday, Sept. 18. Birthday Party Saturday afternoon Ernie Kuck and Bruce Eternick helped Joel Saynor celebrate his eleventh birthday by going to the local roller rink for an afternoon of fun and then back home for cake and ice cream. Engagement Told Lynn Saynor is engaged to P.F.C. Albert A. Jurs of Arlington Heights. A1 is stationed in Germany with the army. No date has been set for the wedding. Birthdays Happy birthday today, Oct. 1, to 10 year old Larry Mersch, our first birthday of the month. Oct. 2 best wishes go to Jack Adams. Diane Rogers will be blowing out eight candles on the 3rd. Oct. 5 will be the big day for Mae Miller, John Coughlin and Hat tie Schwabauer. Oct 6 little Ronnie French will become four. Anniversaries Mri and Mrs. Elmer Borcovan are our first couple to be celebrating their anniversary in October on the first. Scout News Leader of Brownie Troop 211, attended the Betty Radner, neighborhood meeting in the American Legion building. Her full troop of 18 little girls is all set up and ready to go. The first meeting will be at 4 p.m. until 5:15 p.m. at the Presbyterian church. Committee mothers are Mrs. Nancy Marcotte, Mrs. Lee Landin, Mrs. Georgiana Wilson and Mrs. Florence Tucker. All Brownie mother? must see to the transportation of their own little girls. Junior Girl Scouts Troop 436 will meet at St. Patrick's church at 3:15 p.m. until 4:45 p.m. The first meeting will be held Oct. 7. Troop leader is Pat Kellogg with co-leader Jean Weldt from Kent Acres assisting. Girl Scout Troop 190 will meet Monday, Oct. 5 at 3:30 until 5 p.m. at the Methodist church. This troop consists of thirty-two girls. Co-leaders are Mrs. James Longhway and Mrs. Don Virgens. Cub Scout Pack 162 had their monthly Pack meeting last Thursday evening at the American Legion. Their theme was "The Fair" and they had the room set-up like a small fair with boths where each den sold items the boys had made, also for sale were taffy apples, popcorn balls, etc. Games were in the same theme and enjoyed by all who attended. to the following young students graduating from the primary department to the junior department, Chris Durkin, Michael Erickson, Monica Haldeman, Jeffrey Hoskins, Laura Kellogg, Michael Maule, boot training. Mother, Dad,^Douglas Messer, Mitchell Siep Accident Little Jimmy Engerstrom burned both hands badly on the oven in their home. He looks like he is wearing boxing mitts. Determined to get around the poor little tyke is now crawling using his elbows. Imagine he feels pretty sore. Our sympathy really goes out to this small fry as he works for his place in our growing world. Faith Presbyterian Church News On last Sunday at Faith Church Bibles were presented man, Denise Thomas, Lynn Tomlinson, and Larry Tucker. Thursday, Oct. 1 -- 8 p.m. Choir practice will be held. Friday, Oct. 2 -- 3:30 p.m. Junior choir will meet. Sunday, Oct. 4--World Wide Communion Sunday. The sermon will be entitled "The Gospel of God", and the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper will be celebrated. Tuesday, Oct. 6, a number of women from Faith Church will be attending the F&ll Presbyterial meeting at Rockford. Oct. 6--8 p.m. at the church first in a series of four weekly discussions in theology for teachers. Oct. 7--Brownies meet at 4 p.m. 7 p.m. Session meets and at 8 p.m. Deacons will meet. Demonstration A dozen women attended Elaine Rogers demonstration party Friday night. Coffee, cup cakes, and brownies were served. The gals "all had a grand time getting re-acquainted and meeting other new Manorites besides playing with all that merchandise! Bunco Club News A new Bunco Club was formed with so many girls enjoying an evening out together. New members are Frieda Durkin, Joyce Engstrom, Erika Haldeman, Edie Iverson, Thelma Massheimer, Jean Mersch and Kay Stephenson. They also visited in the Skokie village nursing home as Nancy's grandmother was celebrating her eighty-eighth birthday! Another time Dick and Nancy went to the Columbus hospital to visit Dick's father who is recuperating from recent surgery. Eefore returning, home they had dinner in a, nice Italian restaurant. Kay Mitchell's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hill, and family all came out from Oak Park to help that cute little Nancy of theirs observe her third birthday. Fred and Pam Woodbury celebrated their fifteenth wedding anniversary with luncheon in a fashionable restaurant in Algonquin. Fred presented pretty Pam a beautiful corsage. Surprise visitors at the Saynor household on Wednesday were Eddie Pauley and sons, Eddy Lee and Greg,' of Melrose Park. Saturday evening Hugh and LaVerne, aiong with friends from Algonquin and .Cary attended the installation of the new officers of DuFage County Voiture at the Glen Ellyn Afnerican Legion home. A delicious dinner was served before the installation and a dance after. Jerry and Lois Ryan attended the Lakes Region Sports Car Club dinner Thursday, Sept. 17, in Round Lake. They also celebrated their wedding anniversary at the dinner. The new president of the Sports Car Club appointed the Ryans to edit the monthly newspaper for the club. Jerry's grandmother, Mrs. Martha Schmidt of Arlington Heights, was a guest at the Ryan home for several days. Lois Ryan attended the Northern Illinois District of Lutheran Churches, Missouri Synod, Sunday School convention in Chicago on Saturday, Sept. 19. There she attended classes and lectures during the day and a banquet in the evening with entertainment.
