Miss Daly's topic will be "Celebrities Are My Business." In order to bring well known speakers to the community, the Lecture club is initiating this type of program available to the public. Future plans to bring other celebrities will depend upon the success of this venture. Tickets will be available at the door of the theatre at the time of the performance. TEXAS PASTOR LEADS REVIVAL SERVICES HERE Luther Mann, Texas pastor, will lead in revival services at the First Baptist church of McHenry, Oct. 25 to Nov. 1. The Rev. Mann was pastor of the Golden Gate Baptist church of Fort Worth which sponsored the beginning of Baptist work in McHenry three years ago. Under his leadership this church sponsored and aided in the establishment of churches in three towns in Illinois in three years. These are the Fifth Avenue Baptist, Rochelle; First Baptist, New Milford; and the First Baptist of McHenry. He is now pastor of Wilshire Park Baptist church in Midland, Texas. Rev. Mann is a graduate of Southwestern Baptist Theological seminary, Fort Worth, and was a foreign mission volunteer. Being unable to gain appointment because of unforseen circumstances, he has continued to serve his denomination as a pastor and evangelist. His desire to lead out in establishment of new churches and missions was evidenced in the beginning of Ihe work here. The Golden Gate church was itself a relatively young insecure church financially. However, Rev. Mann led the Fort Worth church to cover the cost of the new McHenry Mission while it was totally lacking in income. The evangelistic services led by Rev. Mann will ho held daily at 10 a.m. and 7:.v>0 p.m. Twfenty-nine juveniles were arrested, as well as the proprietor of the Driftwood Inn, near Cary, last Friday night by Elgin state police and deputies from the Lake county sheriff's office. The raid followed alleged complaints in great numbers in recent weeks. Young people arrested were from Elgin, South Elgin, St. Charles, Dundee, Carpentersville, Barrington, Palatine and Lake-in-the-Hills. 46TH ANNIVERSARY OF HOMEMAKERS TO BE HELD IN CITY The McHenry County Homemakers association will hold their forty-sixth anniversary and annual meeting on Thursday, Oct. 29, at the McHenry Country club. Registration will begin at 11 a.m., with buffet luncheon at 11:30. After a short business meeting the speaker of the afternoon will be Mrs. R. D. Hart of Peoria. Her Humorous subject is entitled "Life Can Be A Struggle." Reservations for this event are to be in the Homemakers* office, by Oct. 23. Tickets are available in the office or through the unit chairmen. SHED BURNS, TWO OTHER FIRE CALLS ANSWERED A shed on the property of E. Ziesk in Emerald Park was destroyed by fire last Friday evening. McHenry Fire Chief Ed Justen said its origin was not determined. A few items of equipment, including a lawn mower, and several cans of paint were stored in the building. Firemen were called to the woods on the Gladstone property at the north end of Park street about 2:45 Sunday afternoon. In another fire, corn stalks burned on property in Weingart's subdivision. MISSION SPEAKER Miss Annie Mae White, a missionary of the Methodist church who recently returned from the Congo, will be the speaker at both worship services, 8:30 and 11 a.m., at the Community Methodist church, Sunday, Oct. 25. Miss White was flown out of the Congo just previous to the invasion of the Communist rebels in that area. at the First Baptist church located south on Route 31. Rev. HERE AND THERE IN BUSINESS OBSERVES ANNIVERSARY Clint Claypool, home building representative in the Northwest division for Northern Illinois Gas company, observes a twenty-five year service anniversary with the company on Friday, Oct. 23. 0 Claypool started with the firm in 1939 and. has worked in the gas production, customer service and credit departments, before being named service representative in the Northwest division in 1955. In 1956, he assumed his present position in the company's sales department with offices in Crystal Lake. A resident of McHenry, Claypool and his wife, Margaret, live at 4212 W. Ponca street. They have two sons, Charles and Roger, who are in grammar school, sixth and fifth grades, respectively. Active in community activities, Claypool is president of the McHenry Chamber of Commerce, chairman of the official communitv board of the Community Methodist church, past president of the McHenry Kiwanis club and a member of the Industrial Development commission for the city of McHenry. BILL DIAL TQ'9'9 BE GUEST OF MEDICAL GROUP I'T. The McHenry County Medical Assistants association will be meeting at the office of Dr. Stahlecker, 666 W. Jackson, Woodstock, on Thursday, Oct. 22, at 8 p.m. Guest speaker will be Bill Dial. Mr. Dial is the speech therapist for the McHenry public schools and is engaged in private practice. He is a 1956 graduate of Illinois State university (B.§>. degree) at Normal, 111., and has done graduate study at Northern Illinois university at DeKalb, Illinois. He is a member of American Speech and Hearing association, Illinois Speech and Hearing association and Fox Valley Speech and Hearing association. Mr. Dial formerly taught at Elmhurst, Harvard, and the Easter Seal center in Woodstock. His subject will be about speech rehabilitation and correction. AUXILIARY Conference Speaker JOINS STAFF Mrs. Freida Dumalski has joined the staff of Chain-OLakes Travel Service as travel consultant. For the past three weeks she has completed training courses with Trans World Airlines and Pan American Airlines in Chicago. She also completed a training course with United Air Lines at O'Hare airport. ATTENDS CONVENTION Dr. J. T. Gray of 1236 N. Green street, McHenry, was among those attending the fiftyseventh annual educational congress and convention of the Illinois Optometric association in Peoria last week. The two-day meeting had one of the most extensive educational programs in its history, with new techniques and procedures being exchanged by the nation's most noted leaders in the field of vision care. FITCH Highlight of the Illinois Congress of Parents and Teachers District 26 fall conference held in McHenry last Thursday was a talk in the evening by Dr. Franklin R. Fitch. His topic was "Discipline and Your Child," followed by a question and answer session. Dr. Fitch is a member of the Northwestern University School of Medicine staff and is executive director of the Illinois Social Hygiene League. INSTALL McHENRY MAN HIGH COURT TRUSTEE IN COF William H. Althoff of McHenry was installed a high court trustee of the Catholic Order of Foresters at ceremonies in the society's home office Wednesday. ^clthoff, a prominent business man in McHenry, for many Arears, was elected to the High-'Court in 1960 and was reelected at the society's international convention in Milwaukee last August. He has been prominently identified with the work of the Catholic Order of Foresters in Illinois for many years. J. After the opening ceremony, four new members were accepted into membership to the auxiliary. Those receiving the Instructions were Geraldine Breede, Elsie Ottosan, Mary Williams and Irma Gertsen. We welcome these new members and hope they get an immense satisfaction out of serving the veterans and the community. The Department President's luncheon'will be held Nov. 7 at the LaSalie hotel in^ Chicago. The luncheon is to honor Department President Gafrneta Stringer. Her motto this year is, "String Along With Stringer;" Downey hospital urgently needs daytirrte volunteers'. A thank you note was also received for the flag which was donated to the Valley View Neighborhood Day camp of the Sybaquay Girl Scout council. Our kick-off dinner is a social evening on Oct. 26. We are sorry to hear that Irene Johnson, 5th district president, will be unable to attend; however, Gwen Timm, past 5th district president, has been invited and we are all looking forward to seeing her again. Daisy Smith, senior vice-president of the 5th district and our own auxiliary member, will represent Mrs. Johnson. Jean Wiles reported on the rummage sale. She and Viola Schuble were able to report a nice amount gained on this sale and all help was much appreciated. Post 4600 held an anniversary dance on Saturday, Oct. 17. All details are not available at the present time. Plan to attend the benefit dance for the retarded children on Nov. 14 at the clubhouse. The next meeting will be Oct. 26, which is the membership kickoff dinner. The next regular business meeting will be Nov. 9 at 8 o'clock at the clubhouse.
