Marine Lance Corporal Jerome J. Aguirre, son of Mrs. Lola Meers of 2905 North Shorewood drive, McHenry has sailed from the east cost of, the Uniited Slates to take part in Operation STEEL IKE in Spain. " Operation STEEL PIKE is being conducted to show the ability of lT. S. and Allied amphibious forces to rapidly place large numbers of troops ashore ftnd maintain them for as long as necessary. The operation also trained the forces of both countries in conducting joint operations. .. Spanish Air Force units will fly missions in support of the landing force along with U. S. Illinois Education Astociation Lawyers Offer Voter Service The 1964 general election to be held on Nov. 3 will involve several unusual features. This statement was released today by Robert J. Leali, president of the McHenry County Bar association. In order to explain voting questions which voters may have, Leali announced that members of the association, at its regular monthly meeting, have volunteered to speak to o r g a n i z a t i o n s and clubs throughout the county on the subject of the 1964 general election. Leali explained that speeches by these lawyers will, of course, be non-political. He added that the speakers will exhibit sample ballots and will explain voting mechanics and other voting requirements. This,\he^.j&xpiained, is another public service of the McHenry County Bar Association speaker's bureau. In other business, William J. Gleason, secretary of the association's Court House Facility committee, reported a meeting has been held with the McHenry county Public Building commission. He said that the commissioners have made inspections of new court house facilities in Janesville and Elkhorn, Wis., Peoria, and in several other cities, with a view toward determining the most adequate kind of court house for McHenry county. The Bar association, through its committee, has pledged its complete cooperation with the commission, and Gleason reported a fruitful exchange of ideas between the two groups. He said that the commission welcomes the cooperation of the Bar association and it is expected that a pleasant relationship will continue to exist between the two groups. Members of the commission, who are appointed by the board of supervisors and who serve without pay, are Ralph Ostrander of Woodstock, the Commission chairman; Herman Maas of McCullom Lake, Raymond Olbrich of rural Harvard, George Lau of Marengo and Earl Hughes of rural Woodstock. f l i g h t deck, i n c l u d i n g c a t a - puits and arresting gear, moved ashore. It was developed b\ the Marine Corps to allow Murine air units to go ashore quickly to support Marine ground forces in amphibious operations. Most of the United Sta'c; units taking part in operation SI EEL PIKE will return to tie U S. during the first wc?k in December.
