They bobbed for stemless apples which Jivas a lot of good wet fun #nd jplayed many other games winning prizes. Birthday cake, ice cream and candy were served. Other Halloween Parties • The Women's auxiliary of •the Legion had their Halloween party with several of the ladies ifrom the Manor attending. jHelen Birmingham won first (prize dressed as a glamour jgirl. Others there were Marge jPickettj Lois McCormack werit as Marlene Dietrich, and Lydia jFenner went as Bozo the clown. ]They all had a grand time wearing costumes ranging from an old fashioned girl and Raggedy Ann to Cleopatra and the popular Beatles. It would not be a Halloween party without dunking for apples. Another popular game played was one in which you sit upon a balloon to break it. The Legion girls also had their Hallowen party with several present from the Manor. Martha Simpson won an award for the most original costume thereby also getting her picture in last week's Plaindealer with the other winners. Others from the Manor were jSusie Simpson, Theresa and Margie Birmingham, Cathy and Cheri Fenner, Maureen McCormack, Cathy Durkin, Debjbie Picket and Kathy Alford. j Brownies | Brownie Troop 211 held their ;hard times Halloween party. They played many special j games for this occasion and 'sang. Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Landin provided Halloween goodies for the party. j Nov. 11 Sally Hawkins will | be the hostess. There will be a meeting on the 11th, Veteran's Day, as the little Brownies are to practice for the coming investiture on Nov. 17. Cub Scouts Cub Scouts in Pack 162 of Den 2 held a Halloween party Wednesday in the home of ftheir den mother, Dottie Messer. The boys came in cos- Itumes and played games. Dotjtie served sugared donuts and : hot chocolate. The Cub Scouts delivered Boy Scout Good Turn Day ijbags to each household. They |are conducting a drive for dis- ! Scarded clothing, shoes, small | appliances, toys, and house- | hold articles. These bags will | be picked up Saturday, Nov. 17. Let's all help the Boy Scouts help the disabled workers. h Demonstrations jj Betty Radner held a demonstration party in her home baking two delicious cakes for the occasion. The gals attend- ; ing learned some wonderful tips on clothing care. Georgia Sigman had some- ' thing brand new in the demonstration department Wednesday evening. She served a ! yummy cherry dessert and {Halloween cookies, coffee and tea. Bowling Party The ladies of Faith church went bowling Tuesday morning. Many were from East- Wood Manor. Our bowlers were Marge Pickett, Amolee Mclntyre, Erika Haldeman, Frieda Durkin, Dottie Meser, and Geogia Sigman who won a prize for bowling high game and Dee Penick won the prize for low game. After bowling they returned to the church where they enjoyed a luncheon of sandwiches, coffee, and very delicious homemade cakes. Birthday (ireetlngs Happy birthday today, Nov. 5, to Georgia Sigman, Charlotte Patryas and Don Roths. Nov. 6 Billy Huemann will be a big boy of six. Sunday, Nov. 8 we wish a very happy birthday to Tom Schwabauer. Young Paul Carlson will be three on Nov. 10. Veteran's Day, is party day for many. Adults able to celebrate this day are Yvonne Davis and Pat Kellogg. Debbie Garrelts will be 11, Priscilla Mclntyre will be 10, Timmy Eternick will be 9, and Susan Borcovan will be 6. Happy birthday to all of you. . Family Reunlcm The entire Birmingham family drove to Pine Bluff, Wis. to the farm home of Tom's uncle and aunt4 Mr, and Mrs. Raymond Lorden, for a fyig family reunion. They spent the weekend there enjoying big home cooked meals featuring turkies and hams with about forty guests at the tables. Tenth Birthday Jackie Ritter didn't want a party on his tenth birthday so he had his buddy, Carey Fenner over for supper, a beautiful birthday cake, and to spend the night. Other supper guests were his cousin, Mike and Sandy, his uncle, Pete Theis, and the immediate family, Mom, Dad. fund little sister, Lisa. immed a|id lit ' nB.u nco Club Bunco Club met Wdnesday, Oct. 28, with Joyce Engstrom as hostess. Prize winners were Kay Stephenson, first prize, Judy Huemann, bunco prize, and Joyce, booby. Joyce served a delightful lemon chiffon cake. Hick List Ran across a couple of our residents at home sick. We hope Lydia Fenner and Richard Hawkins are on the road to a quick recovery. Faith Presbyterian Church News Nov. 5--Thursday -- 8 p.m. choir practice will be held and Nov. 6--Friday, 3:30 p.m. there will be Junior choir practice. Nov. 7--Saturday, 10 a.m.-- The second meeting of the Confirmation class will take place in the church. Nov. 8--Sunday -- This is Stewardship Sunday. The sermon title is "How Much?" Pledges for the work of the church in 1965 will be received and dedicated. Nov. 9--Monday--The Presbytery of Freeport will meet at the Presbyterian church in Franklin Grove, 111. Following the evening meal the main speaker will be Dr. Edler G. Hawkins of New York City who is the moderator of the denominations general assembly. Attending from our church will be Mr. and Mrs. John Mclntyre and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Johnson. Nov. 10--Tuesday -- 8 p.m. --The regular meeting of the Women's Society will meet at the churchh. Here and There Mr. and Mrs. Dennis May and Marge's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Justen, went out together to dinner celebrating their wedding anniversary at a nice French restaurant. Don and Carolyn Roths had visitors over the weekend. They were friends from Belvidere, Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Kiefer, and family and Beverly Edmison and three boys. With no school on Monday Dick Fenner took the children into Chicago to help their grandfather celebrate his birthday. Lydia remained at home to rest. The Walter Kuck family went into Chicago Saturday to visit with the Bob and Liz Schwinn family. They enjoyed playing with little Pam. Sunday the grand Indian summer weather beckoned them out for a boat ride through the McHenry locks.. They met a few friends of Power Squadron. The Kucks are boasting about the new baby in the family. She belongs to Eleanor's brother, Art Weyde. Little Debra was born Oct. 13 weighing in at 7 lbs. 14 ozs., and is 21 inches long. They can hardly wait for the day they can all go and call on the young lady. Young Barbie Kuck caught the bridal bouquet at her uncle's wedding in September. I understand that means that she will marry within a four year period. Four years will make her just eighteen so this could come true. Let's watch and see if there's any truth in it! Rink News' About seventeen men armed with shovels got together Sunday to dig up the ground and prepare the place for our new ice skating rink. Eighteen boys have been registered for the hockey team. They would like at least thirty boys to register and this would include boys from outside of the subdivision too so get your friends to call Richard Hawkins at 385-5106 and let's see a hockey team going this winter. Richard was appointed our Sports Director by the E.M.P.O.A. who are backing this project. DAR CHAPTER GIVEN AID BY STATE CHAIRMAN Kishwaukee Trail chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution held its Oct. 26 meeting in Chicago. The state chairman, Mrs. Alice Bartell, of lineage research and Past Regent Mrs. Charles Lethen met the ladies at Newberry library and helped in their geneological research. Regent Anita McDonald introduced State Chairman Bartell, who gave a very instructive talk on research. Mrs. Charles Wright was appointed chairman for a new project for the D. A. R. Mrs. R. O. Andrews reported on membership tea held at the home of Mrs. William Reinwall, Jr., at McHenry. The next meting will be held at the home of Mrs. Charles Wright in Woodstock on Nov. 10, when they will entertain another state guest, Mrs. Killey.
