WOT#WB#1« 1981 SUNNYSIDE ESTATES 1*AN OLSEN 385-5740 SCHNEIDERS NEW OCCUPANTS OF BANKER HOME If you see Duane Schneider walking down the road or out yaking the lawn and you say to yourself, "I think I've seen that fellow someplace before," you are probably right. Duane operates a drive-in hamburger Shop in this area. He and his well-rounded wife Sandy are the new residents of the beautiful Banker home at 4415 North Mayfair Drive. The nearly-newly-weds (they just ' celebrated their first wedding anniversary a few weeks ago^ are expecting their first child ! in mid-December, which explains why Sandy is so wellrounded. Both Duane and Sandy are natives of the Mc- Henry area, living just previously in Lakemoor. Already they love the Estates arid in view of the coming event, they are certain of a productive life here. And hopes of matched and mixed blessings of all sorts 'are wished for our new May [fair neighbors, the Schneiders. And just around the bend we !have a family who reversed Mr. iHearst's advice and "came East" instead. Ronald and Genial Schelle and their two year old son, Steven, come all the way from Salt Lake City, Utah, to 1619 West Indian Ridge, Sunnyside Estates, with A short term lay-over in Mc- Cullom Lake along the way. Since Gean is a native of Salt Lake, that is still her prefer ence but she is being made to feel very much at home here by several of her good neighbors. Ron is a platerer at a Woodstock die cast company, so finds this area most convenient. We welcome you to the Estates, Ron, Gean, and Steve, and hope that we can at least jtnatch the spot Salt Lake holds in your hearts. family traveled to Chester, IP linois, to attend the funeral. May his. soul rest in peace. Getting Acquainted Helen Wegner was hostess for a coffee clatch on Nov. 4 to introduce a new neighbor, Gean Schelle, to a few of our residents. Pleasant afternoon. Sick Trick Halloween was held-over for someone around this area, and the Lakowske family were the victims. While the Lakowskes were away in Chicago the day after Halloween the north side of theu* home was smeared with obscene phrases and various names indelibly written with black crayon. To say nothing of the upset of the family at the very idea of this disgusting prank, they also had the expense of having that side of their home repainted. THINK, kids! I Developing Developments | Michael Anderson, Paul (Voight, Michael Bott, Gregg Jesski, Mary Jane Lakowski, Debbie Noah, and Sherwood Ipalmer were among the eight cars of St. John's seventh graders and their chaperones Who motored up to Milwaukee en Veterans Day to tour a film developing plant. Since the seventh grade has a camera club whose members even develop their own film, this was an especially interesting as well as educational field trip. The students were fascinated by the huge machines that so efficiently and so voluminously handle the various stages of the processing. And retrieving rejected prints from the wastebaskets was a treat. Now the students are anxiously anticipating the conversion of an old shed in back of the old convent into their own developing studio. After the tour the entourage attended the Christmas bazaar at the convent of the Sisters of St. Francis there in Milwaukee where they beheld an extraordinary display of needlework and handcraft of various descriptions, all made by the sisters themselves. Proceeds of the bazaar support their retired nuns and will help finance the new wing of their convent. Hamburgers at a drive-in were a welcome and delicious ending to a beautiful day made even lovelier by the finest of Autumn weather. Our Sympathy . . . t o J i m S t o f f e l w h o s e uncle passed away suddenly on Nov. 2nd. James Pinkerton was in apparent good health and excellent spirits at seventy years of age, thus his death was a shock to all, especially to Jim who was very close to his uncle. The entire Stoffel For Shopping And For Fun Gean Schelle was hostess for a demonstration at her home on Nov. 5. It was a most con- GENIAL. evening for Connie Martinez, Helen Wegner, Ruth Dettlow, Lucille McCauley, Mrs. Schelle, Sr., and Diane Hoffman. Gifts for themselves and Christmas took second place to the enjoyment of the evening together. and then returned on Wednesday again, so what more could she want? Cheslene Brotherton went to watch her husband bowl on her birthday. "And of course we had a cake and there were cute little gifts from the kids. All real nice. Then the next day we all got the flu!!" recapped Cheslene! Happy to report the Rrothertons are all well again. Happy Anniversary . . . t o H a r r i e t a n d A n d r e w Turek who celebrate twentynine years of wedded bliss on the 21st. . . . t o E r n i e a n d G l o r i a V o n Oepen whose seventh anniversary falls on the 23rd. May you each be blessed with many more happy and healthy years of togetherness. Anniversary Activities For their twenty-fourth anniversary Tom and Rose Felicetti were treated to dinner out in Chicago by their friends, Veronica and A1 Williams. Such thoughtful friends. Very happy anniversary indeed. And the P. J. Schneiders enjoyed dinner out on their sixth anniversary, despite the heavy fog they had to travel through. Wishing Well Wishes . . . t o L o u i s D e F r a n c i s c o who incurred a head injury at work when his bald spot had an abrupt meeting with a chandelier. ("If only you had some hair to act as a cushion . . . " wife Marge lamented). All joking aside, the gash required four stitches and caused severe headaches for several days afterward. To add insult to injury, the doctor informed Louis he'd have to shave part of his head to do the needlework properly. "Well just don't take off anymore than you have to," was Lou's gloomy reply. . . . t o Rosemary May who fell off a bicycle she was returning to a playmate, thought nothing of it, and went right about her business of playing-- until the next morning when she woke up with a badly swollen and aching arm. That big autographed arm cast she's sporting, hints at what the x-rays revealed: a bad break-- no matter how you look at it. Candle Gapers "We have quite a time on birthdays," says Mrs. Marcella Miller who just celebrated hers at the home of her daughter, Lucille, in Hoffman Estates on Nov. 1. It was especially nice since Mrs. Miller is feeling quite good now after her hospital stay, in her invincibly good spirits. It was a family party for Peggy Stoffel this year: stuffed with clothes. For Marge DeFrancisco it was "just another day," but she had just spent the previous weekend shopping in Chicago haB ends boil-overs ®<g>® Happy Birthday . . . today to Jimmy Wickman who reaches\the ripe old age of four. . . . t o m o r r o w t o a g r a n d man, Gunnar Johansen, who has long since reached the ripe age of contentment. . . . o n t h e 2 1 s t t o o u r n e w e s t resident, William Edelman, to Geoi'ge Kropf, Jr., in his new home in Lily moor, to Larry Kayler, Jr., who will be in his second year of teendom, and to cute little Cindy Simmons who will be seven. . . . o n t h e 2 2 n d t o D a d K i m bro way down there in Tullahoma, Tenn., where he's hav ing the time of his life, and to carrot-topped Kelly Butte who will be ten years old. . . •. on . the 23rd to Helge Dettlow and to Jackie Smolirfski who is sporting a new garage. . . . o n t h e 2 4 t h t o C h a r l o t t e Gerke who on her eighteenth birthday is anxiously anticipating the commencement of her college career in a few short months, shortly, and to Scotty Kennebeck who should be all mended from his chin injury by his second birthday. . . . o n t h e 2 5 t h t o L e o n a r d Gunn, to Ray Kropf. and to nine year old Diane Noah. Even the poor among us live in princely comfort compared to some in other lands. Our country is famous lor iti beauty and fruitfulness, our cities are a(s modern as tomorrow, and our future glows with promise. God has indeed been good to us. But with His bounty of wealth and power, God has given us responsibilities. Because we have so much, we are called upon to share what we can spare. And we are required to work and pray for the end of ignorance, poverty and suffering wherever they are found. Tb be able to give is a blessed privilege. Let ns fffl our churches and join in heartfelt thanks to God that we hav# enough... and more than enough... to share. Copyright 1964, JTdater AdotrtUing Soviet, btc., 9trtub*rt, THE CHURCH FOR ALL.
