He will be passing out a few gbodies along with his jovial smile. This big day will be Sunday, Dec. 20. Watch this column for more details. Mount Hope Methodist Church The greeters for the Nov. 15 services were Glenda and Phil Wieck nnd the candle lighter was Doreen Patterson. The sermon was delivered by Rev. Donald Hescott who chose the topic, "The Importance of Right Thinking". Rev. Hescott is Mrs. Doenecke's brother and comes as a representative of the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago where he serves in their stewardship department. The entire congregation was happy to welcome him back on this return visit., On Wednesday, Nov. 18, the choir of Mount Hope church started rehearsing their music for the joyous Christmas season. The ladies of Mount Hope were guests of the Woman's Society of Christian Service in McHenry on Thursday, Nov. 19, at 8 p.m. Rev. Ron Russell and Wesley Players from Northern Illinois University presented the program. Rev. and Mrs. Jay Althouse were in charge of the intermediate Methodist Youth Fellowship for the seventh and eighth graders at the church on Nov. 15. eration sweater. There were over fifty sweaters and five bed jackets collected at the October meeting. Joan Megley delivered all of these sweaters to McHenry on Tueday, Nov. 17. These sweaters were collected to be given to the Elgin State Hospital at Christmas. Cookies will once again be given to the Joliet home for boys. The volunteers that had offered to make cookies are to have them ready by Dec. 15. If there are any members who were not at the meeting but would like to contribute cookies to this worthy cause, please contact one of the officers. At the December meeting there will be a choral group led in harmony by Bev. Lewandowski, followed by group singing. The refreshments for the December meeting will be a surprise to all members. Birthdays and Anniversaries A special greeting to my hubbie, Bob, who will be celebrating his birthday on Thanksgiving Day. Mom and Dad Reilly from Skokie and Dad Lutz from Fox Lake will join the entire Lutz family in a turkey dinner for the occasion. A very happy birthday goes to three nice young men who will be celebrating their day on Nov. 28. They are: Kip Novotny, Larry Lutz and Bobby Glueck. Hope each of you have a wonderful day. Last of all but not least a special birthday wish to a real nice gal, Lois Mason, who will be celebrating on Nov. 30. Congratulations to three couples who will be celebrating their anniversaries. They iare Bob and Dorothy Jenkins on Nov. 26, John and Joan Megley on Nov. 27 and Jim and Jane Malek on Nov. 28. Hope all of you have many more years together. Sewing Guild The Pink Lady Sewing Guild of the Women's auxiliary to McHenry hospital met on Nov. 12 at the home of Mae Siadek In McHenry. Lillian Cox was the co-hostess for this meeting. The hostesses served a delicious dessert luncheon. The ladies were honored by a visit from the auxiliary presiident, Jen McDermott. Gert Snell from the Highlands was among the nineteen ladies present at the meeting. Women's Club News The monthly meeting of Pistakee Highlands Women's Club was held on Nov. 18 at the Community Center. President Jan Janquart was out of town, so the meeting was brought to order by vice-president Rosemary Lutz. The officers once again thanked all of the members for their wonderful response to op- News of Your Friends And Neighbors Sorry to report that Mark Van Zevern was confined at McHenry hospital. He had emergency surgery for appendicitis on Saturday, Nov. 14. Hope you're feeling much better, Mark. Also on the sick list is Elmer Beckstrom who has been a patient of. McHenry hospital since Monday, Nov. 16. Arthur Ernst came home after a two week stay at McHenry hospital, Saturday, Nov. 14. Mr. Errtst is on the mend, but will have to stay in bed for awhile. All of his friends and neighbors are looking forward to the time when they will once again see him in his yard. At this time I would like to correct a mistake made. Mr. Ernst had a stroke on Oct. 31, not a heart attack as I had reported. Mr. and Mrs. Ernst's daughters, Dorothy Ernst of Chicago, Claire and Al- Stratford of Chicago and Helen and Fred Ries of Des. Plaines, will spend the weekend with their parents. If you saw a rainbow of colors leaving the Glueck house on Saturady, Nov. 14, it was Mary, June, Joan and their mother, Jerry, beautifully dressed in formals for the O.E.S. Installation in Round Lake. It doesn't seem possible that not too long ago these pretty young ladies were wearing blue jeans and skipptog rope. Dick and Hazel Morley attended the fifth wedding anniversary of th^ir grandparents, Mr. and Mrs, William Morley. All the family gathered for a big celebration on Sunday, Nov. 15. They all enjoyed a nice dinner with dancing afterwards. Hazel and Dick will be spending Thanksgiving with Hazel's sister, Eleanor, and family in Northbrook. Also joining for the festivities will be Hazel's mother and father. Dick and Dorothy Orlowski spent Nov. 14 and 15 in Skokie at the home of their friends, Jack and Connie Zanin. Lil Orlowski's sistef," Nettie, and niece, Delores Flynn, of Trevor, Wis., spent Nov. 18 with Lil and Leo. Marilyn and Bob Van Zevern will have Marilyn's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis of Pistaqua Heights, and Bob's dad, George, of Chicago for Thanksgiving dinner. Here *N' There Helen Barden flew to Detroit, Mich., last week for a three day visit with Emmet's brother and his wife in Farmington and enjoyed the short vacation and the trip. John and Daisy Smith attended a dinner dance in Waukegan last Saturday night for the membership kick off of the VFW. , Daisy is the membership chairman. The Women's Club held a dinner and theatre party Wednesday night and a group of ladies went to this event. RINGWOOD NEWS DELORES BRENNAN «S3-2MS BARNARD MILL TEEN CLUB ENJOYS MOONLIT HAYRIDE Did anyone notice what a beautiful night last Saturday night was for a hayride? Weil, the Barnard Mill Teen Club did! Our hayride was a wagon splitting success thanks to our sponsors, Mr. and Mrs. James Preston, Mr. and tyrs. Robert Betts and J. Klapperich, all of Ringwood. After our hayride we enjoyed listening to a couple of our teen members sing and play their guitars while we had a wienee roast by a nice warm fire. Everyone enjoyed themselves. At our meeting on Monday night which was a record breaking meeting--twenty-six teens were present, which shows our club is still glowing and growing. At our meeting we decided to have an old bottle collection. So now is the time to get rid of all the bottles that are stacked high in the back room. Teens will be collecting all of this week. And next week also, so please save your bottles for us. On Wednesday, Dec. 23, the Teen Club will be Christmas Carolling. More will be reported on this later. Thank You all, Roger Barker, reporter John Hogans Welcome Granddaughter John and Ila Hogan are the proud grandparents of a new granddaughter this past week. Tracy Lee, born to Ann and John Hogan of Hillside, weighed in at 7 lbs. 6 ozs. and was 21 inches long when she put in her first appeararice on Monday, Nov. 16. Little Tracy Lee has a birthday in common with her Aunt Patricia Hogan, who also celebrated a birthday on Monday, her twenty-first. Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Peschke of McHenry are the maternal grandparents. Congratulations to all of the family. New Grandchildren For Andreas Mr. and Mrs. Tom Huemann of Johnsburg became the parents of their fourth child on Friday the 13th of November. The little fellow weighed in at 9 lbs. He will answer to the name of Thomas Weldon. He has two sisters and one brother to greet him at home. Mr. and Mrs. Weldon Andreas of Ringwood are the maternal grandparents and the Joe Huemanns of Johnsburg are the paternal grandparents. Mrs. Mengle Andreas of Marengo is the baby's great maternal grandmother. Mrs. Arthur Andes Passes Away Last Sunday evening in Memorial hospital for McHenry County in Woodstock, Mrs. Arthur Andes of North Richmond Road died. I'm sure all who knew her extend sincere sympathy trTTWr. Andes and family. Funeral services were held on Wednesday for Mrs. Andes. Luncheon Guests Mrs. Georgia Bauer entertained at a luncheon in her home on Tuesday. Attending were Mrs. Jack Laures and daughter, Susan, Mrs. Robert Knox, Jr., Mary, Jimmy and Joey of Crystal Lake, Mrs. Ed Condon, Patty, Jimmy and Joe of McHenry, Mrs. John Herdrich, and daughter of McHenry, Mrs. Donald Wagher and Johnny of Spring Grove and Mrs. Bob Brennan and Linda of Ringwood. After a delicious lunch, the ladies enjoyed visiting over coffee. Card Club The Card Club met on Wednesday with Bertha Peet of Richmond as hostess. High for the afternoon was Bud Whiting with Mae Wiedrich low. Here 'N' There Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Ackerman and family spent the weekend visiting with Leonard's father, Charles Ackerman, in Prentice, Wis. Mrs. Charles Ackerman of Prentice, has been visiting relatives during the past two weeks. Mrs. Ruby Shepard, Mrs. Nellie Hepburn and Mrs. De Marehi of Chicago were dinner guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Seegert of Mineral Springs on Wednesday. Mrs. Darlcne Wagner of McHenry, Mrs. Charles Ackerman of Prentice, Mrs. Clayton Bruce and Mrs. Phyllis Ackerman were Elgin callers on Wednesday. Mrs. Roy Wiedrich of Burlington, Wis., called on Mrs. Fred Wiedrich, Sr., on Thursday afternoon. On Monday, Mrs. Ruby Shepard and Mrs. Nellie Hepburn were Woodstock callers. Also they called on Mrs. Jimmy Jodi at Wonder Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Brennan and son, Wayne, of Twin Lakes spent the evening visiting in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Brennan.
