William Kehr of the U. S. Public Health Service, in charge of Illinois, gave reasons why present methods of handling waste were not good. He also made several recommendations. Mr. Kehr suggested a joint program be developed with state and federal departments of agriculture for best land use development, and also that each home should be connected to a master sewage disposal system. Other speaners included Ben Leland of the Illinois Sanitary Water Board; George Jedlicka, McHenry county building and zoning commissioner; and Supervisor Ted Sterne of Crystal Lake. It has been computed that the maximum increase in the bond tax rate would be only 6 cents per $100 of equalized assessed valuation. The average over the life of the bond issue is only 4 cents. Thus, on a house in McHenry assessed at $10,000 (about one half of market value), the highest increase would be only $6. On the average, it would be only $4 a year. The council is making a further analysis of costs and will make this knowledge available to the public. WONDER LAKE RESIDENT NAMED TO COURT SERVICE Bert H. Boerner, director of court services of the McHenry County Family court, has announced the appointment of Betty J. Bradley as assistant in the Division of Court Services. She is a graduate of Manchester college in Indiana in 1958 with a major in sociology, and served as a probation officer in the Family court of Cook county for six years, assigned to the Maxwell street area. She has performed voluntary services for the Adler Psychiatric institute and the West Side Child Guidance in Chicago. Mrs. Bradley's duties will be counseling delinquent girls and younger boys, investigating adoptions and will supervise complaints of child neglect, and foster homes. She and her husband, William, and daughter, Jodi, live at Wonder Lake. County Second In CP Campaign At the tenth annual meeting of the board of directors of United Cerebral Palsy of Illinois last week, held at Starved Rock State Park lodge, Mrs. John L. Boehm of McHenry, the McHenry county campaign director for this organization, was advised that the county association placed second in the state in its fund drive for 1963- 64. Mrs. Boehm advised that the first place award, which is a travelling trophy, was taken home by Will Wingerter of Sangamon county. The award is given based on the per capita fund raising accomplished by a county affiliate. Placing second in so large a state as^I Illinois represents a great honor and is due both to the hard work of the many volunteers, and the gracious giving of all residents of the area. With the kick-off of this year's campaign scheduled for Jan. 9, the McHenry county affiliate, whose president is Mrs. Dorothy Miller of McHenry, is looking forward to the same cooperation always received from their donors. One need only pay a visit to the Cerebral Palsy classroom located at the West school in Crystal Lake, to see the need for these funds which are raised. The happiness of the children in the room at having an opportunity to attend school, the fine equipment, the very able teacher, his assistant and the full time physical therapist, are all the culmination of the dream of the original board of directors of U.C.P. of McHenry county. This year's theme for the 53- Minute Mother's March is Helping" and the United Cerebral Palsy association does help many persons in many ways. This is the only health agency whose money from fund raising stays in the county in which it is raised--with the exception of a small percentage which is sertt to the National association to carry on the fine research which is being done.
