THE McHENRY PLAINDEALEH Thursday. December 3. 1964 iti'niiwia PS5; SUNNYSIDE ESTATES 885-5740 VICKI JESSKI BETROTHED TO GARY KRISPIN Another diamond was found in this subdivision!! -- on the left hand of Vicki Jesski! It was first discovered there by her, and then by her parents, and then by numerous friends, on Nov. 21, but Vickie revealed that she1 considers Nov. 5 as the actual date of her betrothal. The lucky young man who dropped that diamond onto Vicki's finger is Gary Krispin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Don Krispin of Pistakee Highlands. Both Gary and Vicki are employed in Skokie, but their acquaintance goes back to high school days, so the plans for marriage came as a surprise to no one. The wedding date has been set at JUly 17. Best wishes to both of you Wonderful people, Vicki and Gary- Investiture t)rfcssed in full Brownie unifojfm for the first time, the eleven cute little gals of Troop ISO had their first flag ceremony and received their Brownie pins at the investiture on Nov. 18 at Johnsburg School. Heather Siepman, Kathy Gerstein, Mary Kanter, and Cindy Simmons are the Estates members of 150, whose leaders are Delores Gerstein and Millie Scott. The girls are required to attend four weeks of meetings and activities, and must learn the Brownie pledge before they are officially invested. After the ceremony, songs, games, and refreshments completed the afternoon. Now down to work on Christmas gifts. Dust Off Your Dancing Shoes . . . and get your tickets now for the Snow Ball Dance coming up Jan. 16 at the new year at the Johnsburg Community Club. The dance is sponsored by the St. John's Home and School Association (as their annual fund raising project) so tickets may be obtained from any parent of a St. John's student, this reporter included. Give a call any time and have your tickets delivered. Fur Fashion Flurry Swathed in luscious furs of delicious descriptions, Velma Stephens strode the modeling platforms (again) at the Chicago Woman's Ideal Club annual scholarship luncheon held at the Prudential building on Nov. 19. "It was an ideal day for modeling furs -- but miserable for driving," concluded Velma, recounting the snow storm of that day and how it effected her traveling. But rescue from the storm came when Velma was approaching home and saw her husband's car parked at a neighborhood restaurant, so toddled in to have him buy her dinner! She felt that was an even warmer and more comforting feeling that those gorgeous furs could give. And since she has A1 to keep her warm, who needs furs??--or at least that's the logic she employed that afternoon when she restrained herself from making of a purchase of what she modeled !! SOS--Used Trees Needed--SOS What do you do with your flocked tree a few days after Christmas? So what is there to do with it? Donate it to the decorations committee for the Snow B^all Dance. It will be greatly appreciated. Don't let method of disposal or transportation deter your offer. It will all be taken care of. Just call this reporter. Thanks ^so much. Please call in advance, to permit proper planning. It Happened at the Hilton Alice Bieschke was one of the hostess at the three day confernce of the Girl Scout Council from Region Seven (Which included Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin and Indiana) held recently at the Conrad Hilton hotel in Chicago. Alice, Clare Engh and Avis Gans were the representatives of this area who were among the 2130 adults in scouting" who were hosted at the Hilton during this conference. Workshops on numerous subjects were offered, and there Was much planning as well as a group discussion to evaluate the recently initiated four-age-group in Girl Scouting. The representatives were honored and delighted to be entertained by the authorhumorist Emily Kimborough, and by Chicago radio and TV celebrities. "And seeing (as well as being part of) 2130 women all dressed in Scout uniforms, flanking the elegant stairs of Hilton lobby, singing Scout spngs in unison, was a stirring, warming sight." reminiscend Alice, "It was a great three days." Highr Honors Congratulations to Judy Walczynski who was one of just three of the class of 200 freshman at Marian Central who made the high honor roll. Good work, Judy,--and you can hardly improve upon the 100 percent you got in your French exam. Wonderful. Keep it up. Hockey Highlights Cheers for the young fellas of our surrounding areas! Many happy returns of the day to all. There are no anniversaries to report this week. Bits Of News Bill and Ing Corcoran spent Thanksgiving Day with old friends, Mr. and Mrs. Anderson of Niles, who will soon be moving to Washington. After the delicious dinner Ing learned how to make Christmas wreaths from pine cones so look for an unusual decoration this year at the Corcoran home. John and Marie Hinz were picked up by their daughter, Shirley, and her family on Wednesday to spend the holiday with them. It was a three way celebration, John's birthday, Allen's birthday and the Hinz' fifty-fifth wedding anniversary. They stayed in Chicago for a few days. Marie will be getting a chance to visit some old friends and neighbors while' there. A note of sadness was present over the festivities as the Hinzes had to- put their dog "Ginger" to sleep after 16 years of being together and anyone having a dog knows bow difficult this job is. Connie and Charlie Lindwall )&d daughter, Karen, and her husband, Frank, over for Thanksgiving day, serving the traditional turkey .Their son, Bill, was on Formosa for a month and is now back in Okinawa again and the day would have been much happier had he been home. The family is looking forward to August when Bill will return home from the service. The Jacobs enjoyed a week's stay in Milwaukee and took in the auto show while there. On Thanksgiving they had turkey dinner at Lucille's folks in Pi stakee Highlands and then drove to Chicago for the evening with Marshall's parents, making it a full day. The bowling team sponsored by Marshall won three games last Wednesday, and are now tied for first place. Not bad, boys. Julie Zeimet was the cook for the family on Thanksgiving having the Whitney family, the Hattan family, her mother and father for the day. See you next week, how about joining the regulars at the meeting tonight? EXPERT (All Breeds) • BOARDING (Individual Kennela) • TRAINING o BATHING Seeker's jtocuisls 1018 W. Lincoln Rd. But in all objectivity, Joan reports that it was a "very professional performance; you completely forgot that the players are just high school kids". After the final curtaincall, they visited at Stan's sister's home, and they then went out to eat -- at 2 a.m.!! a nocturnal first for teen-age Judy, so quite a delight. The following afternoon (or actually, later that same day) Stan and Joan attended the silver wedding anniversary of Frank and Marie Stritar at the Whispering Hills club house. Two Turkey Tales Traditionally, Tony Sei^kerik and son, John, go pheasant hunting on Thanksgiving morning. Well, it was the same this year, except that this year --they got one! Praise the Pilgrims! That added extra gaiety to that day that was shared with the Senkeriks by Mildred's mother, Mrs. Louise Ehlert, and sister, Mabel Ehlert, both of Wilmot. After all the turkey and trimmings, the Ehlerts stayed overnight so that they could join Mildred's shopping venture the following day. So now John can tell about "the one that didn't get away" when he returned to his White" water campus on Sunday. Don and Delores Gerstein hosted twenty guests at their Thanksgiving table: parents, brothers and sisters and their families, etc. . . . And when Donny struck up "Happy Birthday" on his accordion, both of his Grandmothers were presented with a birthday cup cake--because there was just too much pie available. Happy Birthday Today to Andy Turek. On the 6th to seventeen year old David Senkerik. On the 7th to five year old Maureen Davis. On the 8th to five year old Cindy Bott. That is freedom's ultimate discovery. And the hundreds of thousands of churches which we have built and supported bear testimony to the fact. But when there are nations who despise God ... who tear down churches ... or forbid their support, how shall we teach this Christian joy to the boys and girls who will be our nation--tomorrow? Karen and Paul are placing Sunday School "envelopes" at the foot of the children's altar. Of course, what Karen and Paul and their classmates can give will hardly pay for an altar. But our world of tomorrow cannot be built on Kremlin economics. A mighty generation must learn to worship in prayer and faith and sacrifice. There is joy in giving to God! Our children learn this chiefly from our example and encouragement. THK CHURCH FOR ALL. • ALL FOR THE CHURCH Copyright 1964 Keitler Advertising Service, Inc. Stnuburg, Va.
