American Legion hall in Wauconda. It was obvious that all who attended had an enjoyable time, because when the band quit, no one wanted to go home They held the band over anc even after that the crowd stayed on and enjoyed singing together. Santa (Don Teuber) was on hand to give gifts to all who had been "good". A tall brunette in a blue lace dress en tertained with a special dance All in all it was an enjoyable evening for Holiday Hillers and their guests. Bill Boettcher's committee consisted of Mary Mahon, Charis Ary, Harry Schroeder, Shirley and Hank Haufe. Jean Baird, Renee Jende, Bob Szamblewski, Chuck Heise and ..Don Tueber who helped that evening as the man in the red suit. Woman's Club Doll And Wardrobe The Woman's Club treasury is in better shape today thanks to the effort of Earline Mettelka chairman of the doll and wardrobe project, her committee and all of the ladies in the subdivision who contributed to the fabulous collection of hand made doll clothes. A special orchid to Grace and Ed Karlic who made a clothes rack and seventeen outfits to go with it. Harrisons CharivarletJ On Monday With a blast from guns, tin cans, whistles and bells, Ruth and Loren Harrison were greeted on Monday evening by a group of twenty friends. It was their one month anniversary also. After a wonderfully enjoyable evening of just visiting, the newly wed Harrisons served a delicious lunch to all. "500" Club The 500 Club held their annual Christmas party in the home of Mrs. Ruby Shepard on Wednesday afternoon. The ladies exchanged Christmas gifts also. High for the day was Mrs. Bud Whiting, with Mrs. Gerry Kunz taking low. •? Here *N* There Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Brennan and son, Wayne of Twin Lakes were supper guests, in the Brennan-Hepburn home on Wednesday. Mrs. Roland Bauer, Mrs. Urban Bauer and Mrs. Marion Otto were luncheon guests at the home of Mrs. Jones at Wonder Lake on Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Wolf Shadle expect their son, John, and family for Christmas. The John Shadles are motoring from Burbank, Calif. On Monday, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Hawley of Fox River Grove called on the L. E. Hawleys. Mrs. Roland Bauer was a luncheon guest in the home of her mother, Mrs. Frances Schmitt, at McHenry on Friday. Also attending were Mrs. Bernice Freund. Mrs. Estelle Klapperich, Mrs. Bill Hiller and Mrs. Ed Condon. (GO! GO!) On Tuesday, Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Hawley were Crystal Lake callers. Mrs. Joe Schmitt of McHenry called on Mr. and Mrs. Bob Brennan on Wednesday evening. On Tuesday evening, Frank Hawley of Crystal Lake visited in the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Hawley. That's about it for now. With the early deadline, there isn't much to report. The school children had their room parties Friday afternoon with the community party and program in the evening. The- Woman's Club realized approximately $185 from this project. The largest profit from any single project, but it took many people many hours to make it the success it was. Home Damaged By Fire The Gilbert home at 1508 West Birch was damaged by fire on Sunday, Dec. 13. The fire started in the utility room and damaged walls ceiling and some furniture. Fortunately no one was injured. Busy Week For Ellen Ellen Erickson found herself in a flurry of partying last week with the Holiday Hills Woman's Club party, she was on the committee for the Island Lake Woman's Club Christmas party and she attended her birthday club of 27 years standing in Park Ridge. I don't knowhow she manages to keep up such a busy schedule but she seems to thrive on it. Girl Scouts The Girl Scouts have been hard at work making puppets and bean bags to send to the Lee Phillip program. The girls, members of troop 478, plan on carolling again this year. If they haven't already been there, be sure to give them a warm welcome when they do. Elmer Mettelka's Mother Visiting Mrs. Frank Mettelka, Elmer's mother, visited here in Holiday Hills for several weeks before leaving for Greenville, S. C., to spend the winter with Dr. and Mrs. Hawkins and Oakridge, Tenn., to spend some time with Raymond Mettelka. Greetings A happy anniversary to Jimmie and Victor Justes on Dec. 27. ONE LICENSE IS REVOKED: FIVE OTHERS SUSPENDED The office of Secretary of State William H. Chamberlain has announced the revocation of the driver license of Oren DeGraffenreid of Algonquin for driving while intoxicated. Suspensions were announced for Harriet J. Thomas and Raymond J. Bourchard, both of Crystal Lake; Donald H. Dettlow of 1715 Oakleaf drive, McHenry; Donald L. Kimmitt of Woodstock and Joel F. Klukan of Cary, all for three violations. Probationary permits were issued to Carl B. Bruse of Crystal Lake and Darlene S. Miller of Cary. APTITUDE TEST A national engineering aptitude test will be conducted in testing centers throughout the country on Jan. 15 and 16. The program is sponsored by the Junior Engineering Technical society, a non-profit educational organization, and is open to all students in Grades 9 through 12. The ten coeds are members of the Eastern Illinois discussion team who split into two groups to interview newspaper editors, civic and county officials, educators, students, and vocational agriculture and home demonstration agents in the Appalachia area. Approximately 1,542 miles were covered by the coeds on their trip. The tour was in conjunction with the national discussion question, "What Can Be Done About Poverty in the U. S.-" Information gathered on the tour will be available to area clubs and organizations in discussiontype programs.
