SCHOOL DDAJ MAGE RESPONSHIBB1I LITY MEETING TOPIC V Responsibility for damages which were the result of a boiler explosion on Dec. 5, 1964 was the main subject of discussion at the meeting of the board of Big Hollow school district last week. The explosion occurred while adjustments were being made by a representative of the boiler manufacturer. Damage was confined to the boiler and stack and minor damage to adjacent walls. A special meeting has been scheduled to meet with insurance officials to determine the manner of arriving at a quick solution to the problem. It was agreed that membership in the Special Education district of Lake county should be continued. A letter from James Flood, assistant county superintendent, was read. This letter was a report on a visitation he made to the school on Nov. 23, 1964. It .commended the board and community on the classroom addition which permits smaller class size providing better educational opportunities. In other business they authorized Supt. E. H. Taveirne to act as their agent in processing claims under Public Law 874. The school has eleven pupils whose parents are employed on a military installation and twelve children whose parents are in military service. Bids for repainting gym walls were considered but no action was taken pending clarification of some items. It is«till hoped that this work can be done over the Christmas vacation period.
