This was the club's annual Christmas party. The members were entertained by a choral group which sang in beautiful harmony. The members of the group were: Jan Janquart, Bev Lewandowski, Jane Malek, Marylou Sabielny, Tena O'Malley, Betty Zenner, Elli Wroblewski, Emma Mares, Juanita Blackburn and Sally Jo Von Bruenchenhein. The choir was accomaniped by Pat Siciliano at the organ. Pat also played two organ solos, which were: "O! Holy Night" and "We Three Kings". After the choral group there was group singing, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. The members were all surprised with a little gift made by the officers and also to everyone's liking were the refreshments of fruit punch, Christmas cookies and an ambrosia salad with crackers. The evening was truly an enjoyable one and I'm sure all the members went home feeling the joy of the Christmas season a little more. On Friday, Dec. 11, Sally Jo . Von Bruenchenhein delivered about twenty pounds of home-baked cookies to the Joliet Home for Boys. These cookies were donated by members of the Women's Club. A gala evening of fun and dancing was held on Dec. 18, at the community center. The chaperons for this month's social were: Mrs. Farris, Mrs. Conway and Mrs. Schubel. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL. Here 'N' There The reason for that special grin on the face of Marylou Sabielny is to show how happy she is to have hubbie, Dick, home again. He has been in Los Angeles, Calif., on a special contract* for his company, for the past two months. Dick and Hazel Morley spent the evening of Dec. 17, in Waukegan, at a pre-Christmas get-to-get her, with a few of Dick's relatives. "Perhaps everyone is at fault, as everyday, every week and every year children, teenagers, and adults foolishly kill themselves or others playing with a deadly weapon that supposedlyTs not loaded- "And most generally it is the 'unloaded' weapon that destroys a human life by unleashing death or permanent injury to a loved one. "The unloaded weapon which looks harmless neatly tucked away, is the cause. "Or could it be human error that is to blame? j, "Nevertheless what is the answer, the cure, to stop this self destruction? "The answer could lie in common sense, proper warnings, gun handling instructions and the knowledge that a gun can kill plus the fact the weapon should be safely locked away somewhere.
