While with the Sixth Fleet, the Leahy has the primary mission of providing anti-air warfare support for one of the two attack aircraft carrier striking groups assigned to the Fleet CANCER STUDY CONTINUES; PLAN '65 FUND CRUSADE Certain signals are helpful in spotting health problems that indicate the presence of cancer, a huge cancer prevention study still under way shows. • Roger Reichert, chairman of the McHenry county unit of the American "Cancer society, said a follow-up on more than a million persons throughout the country enters its sixth year next month. * Purpose of the study is to study the habits, environment and ways of life of these selected people--all under observation since 1959. At the recent 1964 Cancer Crusade drive report, Reichert was notified .McHenry county citizens twice earned recognition. McHenry county exceeded its 1963 fund drive contribution. Its citizens also achieved a three-year high of funds raised one of. fifty counties to obtain this recognition. • Mrs. Jerry Rath, Marengo, reports that schools and other organizations wishing information on whipping cancer through the use of a film or appearance of a speaker should contact her. Mrs. Rath and Rev. Clarence Kerr, Woodstock, are co-chairmen of the public education committee. Plans for the 1965 Cancer Crusade will start in January. The Crusade is held in April each year. Army Pvt. John G. Larson, son of Mr. and Mrs. John K. Larson, 3315 W. Johnsburg road, McHenry, was assigned to the 32d Artillery in Germany, Dec. 19. Larson, a personnel clerk in the 32d Artillery's 1st Missile battalion, entered the Army in June, 1964, and completed basic combat training at Fort Knox, Ky.
