Many hours have gone into preparation for the affair arid It is hoped their efforts will be Awarded with a large audience. " This active group have put on many, many programs for organizations without change and this Show is tp help pay for their equipment, make-up and supplies that are used by the unij, for/ their shows. Veterans hospitals have also been visited by the unit and more hospital programs, are forthcoming. These youngsters are your neighbors, the kid down the street, your paper boy, sfens of your neighbors all out doing their best for you and your subdivision when they collect for the Red Cross, Heart Fund, Cerebral Palsy and all the other collections they've helped. These are the same youngsters who helped gather 2788 gifts for the residents of Dixon for the years of 63 and 64. They are the same group who gave us a float for Mc- Henry's Fiesta Day and Woodstock's V. J. Day parade, float and the unit are the proud holders of three first place trophies. . The Scouts and their leaders are .proud of their subdivision, now won't you show them that you are just as proud of them by attending their show? We hj^pe so, they deserve everyones support. See you there. You'll not only be giving their treasury a helping hand but also be helping them to help others with the enjoyment of their programs and also we know you'll come away very pleased to have seen the show. Tickets are available from any Scout of our troop or from any adult leader and they will be sold at the door. Winter Carnival The response for wood for, the winter carnival was very gdod last week but because of Stan coming down with the flu he was unable to pick it up. He Will get it some time this week. We hope there will be a large attendance this Saturday as our second winter carnival will be at "kerzog Beach." A clown will be there on skates and there will be prizes for the races. Coffee, hot chocolate and doughnuts will be served at a nominal fee. We hope the adults will come out as well as the children. It starts at 7 p.m. Best Wishes The very best of birthday wishes- are extended to the following residents who celebrate this coming week. On the 25th, William Moll adds a candle. The 27th will have three of our younger set all celebrating, Carol Matthews will be 4, John Reining enters his teen_years and Eddie Funk will be 11. Thursday, the 28th, has three more of the younger set sharing the same date for their natal day, Terry Kozy will be 4, Larry Oakford turns 10 and Debbie Gladman will be 12. Little League On January 27, the Little League will have their first meeting of the new year at the community house at 7:30. The meetings usually last about 1 Vi hours. Call your neighbors who have youngsters in the league and remind them. The league has been asking for help, new faces bring new ideas and ffthese are always more than welcome. Girl Scouts A court of honor meeting was held. It was decided to hold a cooking class on Monday at the meeting in time to receive our cooking badge. On Jan. 25 we are going to a roller skating party from 3 to 5:30 p.m. instead of our regular meeting. Respectfully submitted, Cathy Humann, Scribe., Lakeland Park Vikings Hockey Team The boys of the Lakeland Park Vikings Hockey Team would like to let Mr. Braum and Mr. Antepenko know how much they appreciate the nets they built and set up last Sunday. They also want the board to know they appreciate their permission to have the nets made. There were two games played against the Wonder Lake Wildcats with the Vikings coming out on top by scores of 12 to 5 and 14 to 3. The nets really proved themselves. There are two teams, team 1, co-captains are Ken Prazak and Mike Linnane, with Bill Chadwick, Bob Townsend, Frank Vanek and George Peccilo. Team 2 Mike Johnson, Bill Sullivan, Jim Laursen, A1 Raiford and Don Prazak. The standings are--Lakeland Park Vikings 5 wins and 2 losses. McCullom Lake Blackhawks have 3 wins, and 2 losses, and the Wonder Lake Wildcats have 2 wins and 5 losses. Pink Bundle From Heaven On Jan. 10 a baby girl was born to Gene and Nancy Glosson at the Sherman hospital in Elgin. Jo-Lynn weighed'i in at a mere 4% lbs. This is the Glossons first. They are residing on Home avenue. Blue Bundle From Heaven On Jan. 13, Everett and Bonnie Flemming became the proud parents of their third child and second boy as Phillip came into the world. They reside on Eastern avenue in Lakeland Park. May the best of everything come the way of these two new residents. Get-Well Wishes go to Les Eckhart and John Reining who have been sick with the flu, and to Steve Wickenkamp who has an ear infection. Also to Lucille Deitz who had surgery Friday at the Woodstock hospital. I'm also happy to be able to send my son John back to school today after being home all last week with tonsillitis. Strolling Through The Park Gerry and . .Lloyd Wagner spent Saturday evening with their good friends, Betty and Tom Douglas. Besides good company several good card games were enjoyed. Rose and Ed Oswald had their grandson, Dave Druml, his. wife, Donna, and their son, Davey, as dinner guests last Monday. Saturday had those two active people having dinner with Barb and Joe Herman of Lake Marie, the evening was spent playing cards. On Sunday they went into Evanston to help their granddaughter, "Cookie" Geishecker celebrate her birthday. Dinner and birthday cake were the order of the day. They also visited with Rose's brother, Bert, who has just gotten out of the hospital after a very bad bout with pneumonia. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Brotherton of Fox Lake were evening guests on Saturday with Bette and Bill Kamp. Kamps' favorite pastime, Millie Borne, was enjoyed by all. Sunday saw the Kamp family going into the city to visit with the Steller family. Dinner and ice skating were the big features of the day. Our hats go off again this week to the Boy Scouts who helped out Sunday with the collection for Cerebral Palsy. Sue Funk has been on the sick list this past week, hope you feel great real soon. Jim Daurio has also been added to the list of not up to par. Mr. and Mrs. Glosson had a dinner party for about twenty people in honor of her sister, Mrs. Magda Ogren, who is down from Minnesota. Mrs. Ogren spends her time between the Glossons and the Douglases. The Ron Meurers celebrated their anniversary last Friday by joining the Matthews and the Georges and going to see a popular movie. Jan Kozy was one of three girls who put on a baby shower in Palatine last Friday night, for her girl friend, Carol Hill, On Saturday, Bob, Jan and Terri returned to the Hills to spend the afternoon and evening. Monday, Jan. 18, was Joan and Paul Schwegel's sixteenth anniversary. They celebrated on Saturday by having dinner at a very terrific French restaurant in Chicago &id attending the Black Hawks hockey game. The only flaw in the evening was the loss by the Hawks. On Sunday they again travelled into the city to h?lp Paul's aunt celebrate her birthday and also to visit with Joan's mother. Our belated best wishes go to this popular couple. Marion, Ken, Suzy ^nd Lee Hulbert recently spent time touring Arkansas and Texas. It was not only a vacation trip but also to gather rocks for their terrific rock collection. They camped most of the way, going the Southern route and returning the northern. Among their stops was Mexico for a few hours and also along the Rio Grande River in the Big Bend National Park. One day was spent in Arkansas but the temperature dipped to 6 so their visit to' the state was very brief. On Jan. 10, Suzy was guest of honor for her birthday. Helping her celebrate were her great aunt Mrs. Lange from Wauconda and her aunt and uncle Florence and Earl Haake and their sons Roy and Dale. It was Suzy's eighth birthday. Saturday the Hulberts had Mr. and Mrs. Bob Klemf and their daughter, Diane, from a trip also, so the evening was spent going over their latest rocks. Kay and Ed Druml are real proud of their Marine son, Dave. He received a promotion to the rank of Lance Corporal on the first of the year. He received his orders on the 18th. Saturday, Jan. 18 had Mark Rogers as guest of honor for his birthday. Those enjoyirfg the party were Michael Burmann, Jeffrey Connors, David Wilkens and Johnny Bierman. Heard the youngsters all had a ball. Sunday saw the Jack Oakford family in Chicago to visit with Petey's godfather who is a hospital patient at, St. Ann's. He had surgery on Wednesday. Jack and the boys enjoyed ice skating at Lafollette Park and they had a delicious dinner with Petey's sister, Marilyn Mc- Cullough. They also visited with their nephew and Jack's godchild, Mark. Saturday evening had Jack as honored guest when Jack and Petey were joined by Toots and Don Gerstad for an early birthday cele« bratlon.- . Friday after school several of Cathy Humann's friends helped her celebrate her eleventh birthday with a bahg up party. These girls enjoyed games and Beatle records and mom Carole's delicious food, Patty , Rogers, Terri Brooks, Holly Koehl, l^inda Zimney, Debbie Gladman and all four of Cathy's sisters.
