The ladies will appreciate cooperation from all of us. Everyone uses goodies of some sort and this is a good place to purchase extra good ones. It will be two fold with your backing, you'll enjoy good homemade cake, pie, cookies, bread and what have, you and also be giving the ladies a helping hand at reaching their yearly goal for their mortgage payment on the Community House. There is also a need for bakery goods, you need not be a member of the Woman's Club to donate your speciality for the sale, just give Joyce Braun a call at 385-5547! Winter Carnival Postponed Again Last Saturday's weather proved once again not to favor our winter carnival. The committee under Stan Lezak is going to try again on this Saturday evening to hold the affair at Herzog Beach at 7 p.m. There will be races and the usual winter activities along with a huge bon-fire, hot chocolate and coffee and dough-nuts will be served at a nominal fee. Women's Club The community house was alive with color when the Woman's Club held their Valentine social after the meeting last Thursday. Their favorite game was played with prizes going from one person to another. Girl Scouts, Troop 820 Feb. 1 we worked on our badges, cooking, drawing and painting. The cooking girls looked up the history, on spices. The drawing and painting girls made a color wheel and chart. Alicia Sweeney brought cup cakes. Brownie News The girls were taught the "Flag Ceremony" which will be incorporated in our opening ceremony. We read from our Brownie Handbook. The. treat was served by Veronica Bierman, hostess for the week and Karen Roepken who had a birthday. Doris Dowell is hostess for next week. Songs were sung, Friendship circle and the magic tunnel closed our meeting. Roller Skating Party Little League will again sponsor a roller skating party on Thursday, Feb. 18 at 7:30, it will last until 10:30. It's to be held at the roller rink in town. Tickets may be obtained from the Little League managers and coaches. For additional information call Bob Matthews at 385-6042 or Jim Wickenkamp at 385-3069. Hockey There were no hockey games Sunday because of the bad weather, so there will be a list of the number of goals made by each player listed this week as news. They follow in this order, Ken Prazak, 20, Mike Linnane has 12, Bill Chadwick, 8, Bob Townsend 7, Mike Johnson has 6, Frank Vanek has 5, Bill Sulivan has 4 and Jim Laursen has 2. Sunday the Wonder Lake Wildcats play the Lakeland Park Vikings at Herzog Beach. The standings are as follows, first plac£ Vik- Bowling League News The long stretch between bowling dates didn't seem to bother Delores Rogers last Saturday as she knocked Dot tie Becker out of the hi-series spot with handicap with a 682 over Etottie's 678. The Dodgers and Braves are still tied for first place with 7 wins, the Cubs and Pirates are tied with 4 wins apiece, the Sox and Yankees are next with three wins a piece and the Mets and Orioles are tied with two wins. There will be bowling again this Saturdiay to make up for the night we missed in January. See you there. Merry Makers The meeting of the Lakfeland Park Merry Makers, our 4-H group, was called to order by the president, Linda Schultz. Roll call was taken by the Secretary, Janice Harris. She read the minutes of the last meeting, the treasurer's report was given. We then talked about selling candy and having a roller skating party on Feb. 11 at 8 p.m. We then had talks and demonstrations. Kathy Hickey then gave a demonstration on "Tools Needed for Sewing." Paulette Rizzo. gave one on Knitting, Janice Harris gave one on a foundation cake. Kevin Schultz made a motion to adjourn the meeting and John Flannigan seconded. Recreation and refreshments were served by Kathy Hickey. This reporter is Kevin Schultz. Best Wishes are extended to Gayle and Bob Laursen, who celebrated their fifteenth year of wedded bliss on the 4th of the month. The 11th has Norbie Kwiatek reaching age 12, Rosemary Holas and John Zimney also share that date as natal day. The 12th has Michael Kraskiewicz becoming a Boy Scout and Richard Biermann an active 3. Bruce Okal will be 15 on the 13th. Two popular young gals share the 15th, Kathy Becker will be 14 and Gerry Wagner ??, we'll never tell Gerr. Wally Nuss blows out an added candle on the 16th and Danny Duffy becomes 5. Mary Barle adds a year on the 17th. May each of you get your every wish, hope they include life long happiness and health. Since we wrote the above we learned Penny Veenhius and Carol Cynowa both celebrated last week, hope your days were extra special also. Blue And Gold Dinner Our Cub Scout Pack will hold its yearly Blue and Gold banquet this year on Feb. 28 at the American Legion home in McHenry at 3 p.m. Everyone is asked to bring a dish to pass as well as a meat dish. Start Valentines American Cards your planning now moms and make yoilr favorite dish. We have been asked to make a plea for a badly needed Den Mother to take over Den 4 for Mary Daurio. Her working hours make it more than difficult to keep on being a Den Mother and as her boy is no longer in 1 the Den she would like to turn it over to some one else. Strolling Through The Park Helping Gayle and Bob Laursen celebrate their fifteenth year of togetherness on Feb. 4 were the Gladmans, Duffys and Ron Funk, Susie couldn't join in the enjoyment of the evening due to work, Gayle and Bob and their guests had a wonderful evening. Tommy Wagner was the weekend guest of Paul Schwegel while Tommy's sister, Sharon, had Susie Bitterman of Lakemoor as her house guest for the weekend. Sunday had the Wagner household filled with Gerry's sister and her family. The Lawrence Harrisons call Meadowdale home. Max Koch worked many, many long hours during the recent storm helping to get electric power back to work. Among th6 homes he tvorked at Was that of popular disk jockey, Howard Miller. Rickey Pike has been spending his two week leave from Chanute Air Force Base at his home on Oak avenue. His mom, dad and family have been enjoying his leave. Mr. and Mrs. Adam Zujewski had guests on Saturday. The Zujewskis reside on Shore Drive. Get well wishes go to Mr. Marquart who has been quite ill, hope he's on the up grade now. Sue Grizley has left McHenry hospital for Michael Reese hospital in the city, Susie is to undergo surgery during the week and will be hospitalized for a long time. We're sure she'd enjoy hearing from her friends and neighbors during her stay. I sure hope Sue's serious surgery turns out A-OK and that she'll be up and home long before the doctors have said. - Joyce and Ron Braun and several of Ron's fellow employees attended the Black Hawks hockey game last Sunday, Joyce was very disappoint-? ed with the loss they had to see. Larry Oakford treated his brother, Billy, Del and Roger Gerstad to the Boy Scoufs show on last Saturday evening. Ttie occasion was Larry's 10th birthday. On Sunday of that same weekend Larry had Lawrence Huck,' Jim Couglin, Gerard' Long and his brother, Billy, as guests for the movies and the usual birthday cake and trimmings. Mom "Petey" really out did herself by attending the Tarzan movie when dad Jack came up with a terrific cold and couldn't attend with the guests. We wish Nancy and Lee Moses nothing but the very best as they leave our subdivision for Pistakee Highlands. Rudy Lense's mother has been hospitalized, sure hope she's much improved. Coleen Rogers was honored guest on Monday, Feb. 8, with a Valentine fcirthday party for many of her neighbors and school chums. The Jack Oakford family took quite a long jaunt last Sunday when they spent the daiy with their good friends, Jeanne and Lou LaPlace, in Hazelcrest. They also stopped in the city to have coffee with Petey's sister, Marilyn McCullough. Tommy Messel, Del Gerstad, Tommy Bockman and Billy Krater attended the Boy Scout dinner for Troop 162 at the American Legion hall last Saturday evening. On Feb. 6, Kay and Les Luing again had their two sons and families out for dinner and the evening, along with Kay's aunt, Mrs. Nana Hughes, who was celebrating her 96th birthday. Our best wishes go to your aunt, Kay. On Sunday, Feb. 7 the George and Johnson families got together for cake and ice cream to celebrate the birthdays of those two very active two year olds, Kenny George and Joey Johnson. They were born on the 8th of Feb. After bowling last Saturday the Kochs, Dowells, Matthews, Georges and the Johnsons went to the home of the Johnsons for a snack and cake and ice cream to celebrate Max Koch's birthday. That active group of bridge players met at Ivy Lezak's home last Wednesday. Ivy served delicious refreshments and everyone had a very enjoyable evening. Ann Leigh took top honors with Ivy taking second. Ruth McMahon, Louise McEnery, Joyce Braun, Gayle Laursen, Ruth Chadwick and the mystery guest Susie all enjoyed Ivy's hospitality. Ann Herzog was unable to attend and Susie Q was her substitute. Our condolences are extended to Lucille Dietz. Her mother passed away last week at the Woodstock Home. PFC. Robert Charles Bates will be graduating from Security Armed Forces school at Fort Devans, Mass., the end of this month. He wrote home to tell his proud family that after graduation he will be sent to Bangkok, Thialand, where he will be stationed for 15 months. Our very best wishes go to Bob. Get-well wishes to Carole Matthews who has an ear infection and to Ron Meurer who had a bad chest cold. Our deepest apologies go to Billy Eckhart who had his name missed in the Boy Scout list last week. V 8 f PISTAKEE R TERRACE Jerry Dicks Ladies Club At Gavin Home The Ladies Club of Pistakee Terrace will meet at the home of Grace Gavin on Thursday, Feb. 11, at 8 p.m. sharp at 1208 W. Oakleaf avenue. Kindergarten News On the first of February the following children of the Terrace were seen attending kindergarten, Mike Pritchard,. Nancy Gavin, Mitch Sabaj, Karen Stull and Jimmy Perrejkve. Birthdays Feb. 11/ Joyce Toepper and on Feb. 17, Margaret Moore will celebrate their special day. We wish them a very happy birthday. Sick Friends Those found a bit put of sorts this week were William Kern, Ricky and Scott Patula, April Pritchard and Dud- Gregg's Mom, Mrs. Corinne Gregg. We wish you all a very speedy recovery. Terrace Tidings LaVerne, Keith and Carolyn Mierzwa along with David Brind and Peter Schilling spent a wonderful evening at the Boy Scout Indian show in McHehry. Handicraft items were sold at this affair. Helping celebrate Mrs. Lillian Steidle's birthday over the weekend were their sons and wives, Roy and Mimi Steidle and Edward and ^June Steidle 886-7250 and their daughter, Darlene, and Roy Wejner. t . Helping Georgie KricfcL celebrate his first birthday this week were his Godmother Mrs. Boyd Knaack and family on Sunday and on Tuesday Mr. and Mrs. George Krickl, Sr., of McHenry and Jennifer and Michael Krickl. Helping Barb Zamastil celebrate her. birthday and Mom's were Don's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Zamastil, along with Don's brother and sister-in-law on Sunday. Making the B honor roll this grading period was Seve Stahlman. Cheryl Stahlman made the B-plus honor roll. Spending Thursday through Sunday at the Toepper home were the Ron Toeppers of Grayslake. Pat and Mickey Ferrell afttended Pat's sister's : graduation 'party in Addison on Sunday. After the party Pat and Mickey visited with the Senior Ferrells of Chicago and then the George Mitchells. ^ On the weekend the Anthony Kurowski family visited the Edwin Kurowski family of Lake Geneva. On Friday Anette Kurowski entertained a few girls at a pajama party. Present were Susan Conway and Karen Shastal of Pistakee Highlands and Betty Hippleman of Johnsburg. On Saturday evening the Dicks family attended the birthday of Bob's Godson David Matt in Chicago. On Sunday the Bob Dicks family visited with friends in Forest Lake.
