And for the further purpose of considering an amendment of the amending provisions of said Subdivision Control Ordinance whereby, it shall be required that all amendments or variations of the SuDdivision Control Ordinance shall be brought before the Zoning Board of Appeals of the City of McHenry; And for other minor and substantive changes. ZIEMAN Chairman Zoning Board of Appeals of the City of McHenry (Pub Feb. 11, 1965) PUBLIC NOTICE IN THE MATTER OF THE) PETITION OF THE CITY) OF McHENRY FOR A-) MENDMENT OF THE) ZONING ORDINANCE,) AND THE ZONING OR-i DINANCE AS AMENDED,) OF THE CITY OF Mc-) HENRY, ILLINOIS. > PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that on Friday, the 5th day of March, 1965, at the hour of 3:00 p.m., a public hearing will be had before the Zoning Board of Appeals of the City of McHenry, in the City Hall in the City of McHenry, Illinois, in regard to the Petition filed by the City of McHenry, Illinois, for amendment of the ^Zoning Ordinance of the City of McHenry as adopted on the 12th day of March, 1962, and as subsequently amended, by adding thereto a "Planned Unit Development" section to permit construction and development of land areas in excess of 40 acres in an orderly and comprehensive manner by permitting various uses within each such land areas, including commercial, residential, industrial, educational and recreational, which are compatible with the overall municipal area and which are controlled and varied as • to requirements, as are fully set forth in the proposed iamendment to be presented at this hearing; And for the further purpose of reclassifying the following described premises: Beginning at a point on the Northwesterly line of Crystal Lake Road and its point of intersection with the Northeasterly line of Mill Street as extended Northwesterly for a place of beginning; thence Northwesterly on a straight line to a point of intersection with the East line of the Southwest Quarter of the Southeast Quarter of Section 27, Township 45 North, Range 8 East of the Third Principal Meridian, which is 375 feet South of the South line of Illinois State Route 120; thence North along the said Easterly line of the Southwest Quarter of the Southeast Quarter of Section 27, Township 45 North, Range 8 East of the Third Principal Meridian for a distance of 375 feet to a point of intersection with the South line of Illinois State Route 120; thence Easterly and Southeasterly along the Southwesterly right-of-way line of said Illinois State Route 120 to a point of intersection with the Northwesterly line of Crystal Lake Road; thence Southwesterly along the Northwesterly right-of-way line of said Crystal Lake Road to the place of beginning, all in the Southeast Quarter of Section 27, Township 45 North, Range 8 East of the Third Principal Meridian in the City of McHenry, County of McHenry, and State of Illinois. from the present classification of "1-4" Heavy Industrial District, or as presently varied as to certain parcels, to "B-3" Commercial District. Feb. 11, 1965) STUDENT GIVES "FEATHERS AND FLIGHT" REPORT "Feathers and Flight* is the title of a report to """be given at the next evening meeting of the McHenry County Bird Club on Tuesday, Feb. 16 at 8 p.m. The report will be given by Miss Nancy Venerable, eighth grade student at Couth Junior high school in Crystal Lake, who undertook this project of gathering feathers and studying flight of birds, as a science assignment. In observing feathers and flight and obtaining information, Miss Venerable hopes to answer the question, "What is a feather?", and to explain the different types of feathers, their pigmentation, use as a protective agent, melting and camouflage, and the use of feathers in maiing. In her discussion of flight, Miss Venerable will enumerate the different types of wings and how they are adapted to various birds, and how flight is produced. Following the report, SJarnes Pearson will show the Wttlt Disney color film, "Nature's Half Acre." The meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Robert Sunderlage, 819 Sharon Drive, Walrose Manor, Woodstock. Guests are welcome. CAMPING TRIP TO CANADA FOR YOUTH PLANNED Arrangements have been made to take junior high school age boys from this part of the state to a fishing lodge and camp in Ontario, Canada, next summer. The camp is on an island in Douglas Lake which Walt Rundle, an industrial education teacher at Palatine high school, leased from the Canadian government thirteen years ago with the aim of creating a fishing haven for boys. In the intervening years, he built nine cabins, an ice house, eating lodge and boat docks. A meeting for boys in sixth through twelfth grades, and their fathers, will be held Thursday, Feb. 18, from 8 to 9:30 a.m. in the Lake County Farm Bureau building, Rt. 45. a half mile north of Rt. 120, Grayslake, for the purpose of explaining the camping trip. Teachers from this area will be acting as chaperones and guides for the boys, with a ratio of leaders to campers of 1 to 5. There is a possibility that Principal Reno Bertellotti of McHenry Junior high school may be among the chaperones. At least, the signs along the road SAY the men are working. TT Newt About Our Servicemen THE McHENRY PLAJNDEALER lilted C. W. HERMAN, JR. Charles W. Herman, Jr., is among a number of airmen relieved from assignment at Lowry Air Force Base, Colo. He has been assigned to the 5th Ftr. Interceptor Sq.r ADC, Minot, N. Dakota, and will report March 15. Herman resides at 1515 May Avenue, McHenry. Pfc. Robert Charles Bates, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Bates of 5221 W. Victor Drive, Lakeland Park, leaves March 1 for Bangkok, Thailand, with the security branch of the Army. Pfc. Bates graduated from McHenry high school in 1959 and from Northern Illinois University in 1963. He then enlisted for four years and was sent to Presideo, Monterey, Calif., to attend a language school, from which he graduated in 1964. From there he went to Fort- Meade, Md., for six months of training, from where he transferred to Fort Devins, Mass., for 4 further trainihg for his present assignment. The young man expect^ to be in Thailand for about fifteen months. .if Lull Thursday/February 11# 1965 Army Pvt. Robert C. Beamer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert P. Beamer, 702 W. Pheasant Trail, McHenry and Army Pfc. Daniel H. Sompel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Sompel, 3711 N. Spring Grove Road, McHenry, are participating in Exercise Polar Strike, a fourteen day winter field training exercise in Alaska that is scheduled to end Feb. 17. More than 12,000 U.S. and Canadian military personnel are taking part in the maneuvers. Polar Strike, under the direction of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, is being held to study military operations under arctic conditions and to evaluate plans for reinforcement of the Alaskan Command. Sompel, who is a gunner in Company B, 3d Battalion of 4th Infantry Division's 8th Infantry at Fort Lewis, Wash., entered the Army in February 1964 and was last stationed at Fort Knox, Ky. The 22-year-old soldier was graduated in 1960 from McHenry Community high school. Beamer, 21, a truck driver in the 171st Support Battalion's Company C at Fort Wainwright, Alaska, entered* the Army in July, 1964, and completed basic training at Fort Knox, Ky.
