Recently the girls working on the Emergence Preparedness Challenge took time out from a meeting to 'Scouts pace" to the police station and the fire house. Since we met at the Zion Lutheran Church, this proved to be quite s long run but everyone did fine. The girls working on the Active Citizenship Challenge invited Mayor Doherty to visit at a meeting to explain to the whole troop about city government. He also explained a little about state government. The troop enjoyed his talk and then showered him with questions in the question and answer period that followed. As a practical lesson on how to plan and give a party the troop was invited to a 'come as you are' party at the leader's home. Every girl was visited and notes, were takeji on how they were dressed. They had to appear at the party dressed exactly, the sahie way. Some had on pajamas, bowling shoes, and one even had on one roller skate. Needles to say, the party was a great success. At the badge meetings every other week the girls have been working on the Minstrel Badge. Their repertory of songs has been built up considerably and now everyone is learning .how to lead songs. !. The whole troop has been very busy and thus, far has accomplished a lot cn their badges and challenges.
