-liau Two -- Page Two THE McHENRY PLAINDEALER Thursday, March 4, 1965 PISTAKEE HIGHLANDS ll6SE3tAR¥ LUTZ HYatt 7-8814 CLUB MEMBERS WEATHER STORM TO ATTEND MEETING - The monthly meeting of the Pistakee Highlands Women's Club was held on Wednesday, Feb. 24, at the community center. The officers wish to express their appreciation- to the twenty-four members who weathered the snow storm to come to the meeting, many of the gals even walked to be there. The banquet report was given and a vote taken as to where it is to be held. The installation banquet will be held on April 24. All money for this is to be handed in by April 1. The nominating committee. Consisting of Vi Krispin. Marie Schram and Vi Schubel, was selected and they will present the slate of officers at the March meeting. On April 1 the club will have a luncheon and card party, at Ihe community center. This is taking the place of the fashion show, which was previously planned for that day. The fashion show was cancelled by the store and will not be able to be held this year. * A county meeting will be held 6n April 14 at the community center. This will be a luncheon as well as a business meeting, iklrs. Stinespring will be the guest speaker. She is very interesting aiid I'm sure all will enjoy hearing her. This is an honor for our club to be chosen for the county meeting and I hope many of our members will plan on attending. The hi-light of the evening was the demonstration. Mount Hope Church Notes The greeters for the Feb. 21 services were: Florence and Glover Young and the candlelighter was Laura Gregg. Rev. Doenecke chose the topic "Learning How to Pray." Lenten services will start on Wednesday, March 10, and will continue every Wednesday till Easter. Confirmation classes have started and will be held 'every. Saturday from 10 to. 12 noon. These classes will be conducted by the youth leader, Rev. AIthouse and will continue till Confirmation on Palm Sunday. Attention all spaghetti lovers! The third annual spaghetti dinner will take place at the Mount Hope church on Saturday, March 21, This is sponsored by the Woman's Society of-'Christian Service. The cost is nominal and tickets are available from W.S.C.S. members or may be purchased at the door. Serving time is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. I hope many from our community will plan on attending. A retreat for women of the- Elgin District Women's Society of Christian Service will be held March 20 and 21 at Wesley Woods in Lake Geneva,* Wis. PISTAKEE TERRACE Jerry Dicks 385-7250 INVITE TERRACE PEOPLE TO BOWL SCOTCH DOUBLES On March 13, the Terrace residents are invited to attend the Scotch Doubles at a McHenry bowling establishment at 9 p.m. Contact Mrs. Gavin by March 6 to make Reservations. Your friends are also cordially invited to join us that evening. The Ladies of the Terrace will meet at the home of Fran Dack on Circle Drive on Thursday, March 11. At this meeting there will be a children's fashion show. Everyone who has children or even grandchildren will be pleased to see the new spring fashions. Come and join the ladies for an evening of fine entertainment. Terrace Tidings On Valentine's Day Mrs. K. Ritter celebrated her seventieth birthday with the following guests present. Mary Phillips, Mr. and Mrs. E. Burges, Rosalie Wadecki, Mr. and Mrs. G. Stader, Mr. and Mrs. Johnson of Chicago and Mr. and Mrs. Art Brink, Mr. and Mrs. Hanck of Highland Park, Mr; and Mrs. Schilling and family and Mr. and Mrs. Barkowski. We wish Kate a very happy birthday. On Saturday evening the 20th, the Don Hawkins were Hosts at a get-together for friends and neighbors. Present at their home were a few of the Terrace residents which indluded, Mr. and Mrs. V. Patula, Mr. and Mrs. F. Dack, Mr. and Mrs. M. Ferrell, Mr. and Mrs. J. Deppmeier, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Parker and a few of the folks who work with Don. A delightful evening was spent by all. On Saturday the 13th of Feb. the Russell Parkers spent the day celebrating the birthday of Mrs. C. Schwebke in Chicago. On Valentine's Day, the 14th, the Russell Parkers and children, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Schwebke of Chicago visited with their friends, Emma and Jack Enter, for dinner. On Saturday, the 20th of February, Lori Parker went to her cousin Billy Rowe's seventh birthday party in McHenry. Barbara Parker also attended a party in honor of Margaret Moore's birthday. Birthdays We wish the following a very happy and pleasant birthday. On March 5 Jack Cynor, on March 7 Susan Kaiser and Bill Pritchard and on March 8, Ingeburg Treptau and on the 9th, Bob Jorgenson, Jr. Deepest Sympathy Our deepest condolences to the Cal Vyduna family on the loss of Cal's father, George Vyduna of Oak Park. Beside Cal of the Terrace, Mr. Vyduna leaves another son, Warren of Elmhurst, and a daughter, Mrs. Glenn Oaks of Wheeling. We know the Vyduna and the Oaks families will miss him, we are all sure he will be looking at you from his Heavenly home and watching over you. Mrs. Polk, Mrs. Conway and Mrs. Jenkins were the chaperons. There was a good turn out and the teens enjoyed a night of dancing to .records. The girls-made cupcakes and sold pop. The Teen Club is working on a musical which is scheduled for sometime in June, but as with everything they need some help, so if there are any p;u_-. ents who have theatrical experience. or even if you don't but would like to help them anyway, the kids would really appreciate it. The Wearing of the fJreen will be displayed 'at a St. Patrick's day dance on March 13 at the community center! Refreshments will be served. IS, for F.laine Glicka and Lilly Hovseth. Those present were: Jane Malek, Tena O'Malley, Babe Koch, Magee Sluga, Lois Mason, Doris Hansen, Polly Filers, Carla Bales, Bev Bichler, Ruth Lenimons, Jenny F^mmer- 7ch, Ann Mclnerney and Mary Lou Sabielny. The girls received many lovely gifts for thoir babies-to-be. Fourth Ciirl for Maleks On Saturday, Feb. 20, the stork arrived with, a lovely bundle of pink for Jim and Jane Malek. The little darling weighed in at 8 lbs. and will be named Jean Marie. This makes four girls for the Maleks, their others are Joyce, 10, Jamie, 8 and Joan 6. The newcomer has dark hair and all reports are that she is beautiful. Congratulations to both of you and may there be nothing but happiness in store for you. Here 'N' There The Fox Lake library is again donating books to our Pistakee Highlands library. They will be on the shelves in the very near future. Last year there were some very nice selections and I'm sure this year they will be as good. Why not visit our library some Saturday morning from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and see some of the fine selections. " I am glad to report that two of our very, nice' male citizens are home from. McHenry hospital, they are Leo Orlowski and Wally Sielisch. Both are recovering from surgery. I sincerely hope both of you are feeling real well by now. Please except my apologies for not having a column on Feb. 25, I was laid up with a back injury and was unable to make any calls. News is a little hard to come by so I would appreciate any calls as to what you are doing.
