Thursday. March 4.1965 THE McHENRY PLAINDEALER JOHNSBURG NEWS BETTY HETTERMANN ROBINS RETURN. CAN SPRING BE FAR BEHIND? The lost has been found. I'm referring to the two fat robins who were feeding in my backyard recerttly. I was sure Spring was on its way when they appeared, but changed my mind when they disappeared just as fast as they came. Friday I received a phone call from a neighbor, Mrs. Ray Kruger, who has the robins feeding in her yard now. So don't lose heart, spring is definately on its way. After last weekend, who can doubt it. Come the middle of July when the temperatures hit a 100 in the shade, we will be wishing-for some of this cold I think. Never satisfied, are we? New Home. Occupants Bob and Dolores Meyer are now living in their beautiful new home on Hillcrest Place. We all join in wishing them the very best of luck, along with many years of happiness in their new surroundings. The running count now totals 2,447 to date. Another tip for safety from the Johnsburg rescue squad has to do when their siren blows. Please, parents, warn your children to stay away from the roads until' the ambulance is well on its way. Also, motorists who are on the road when the ambulance goes out are asked to pull off to the shoulder immediately. One more thing has Section Two -- Page Three to do with curiosity seekera following the vehicle. Don't-- many times this hinders the men from doing their job which may mean the difference between life and death. It is a violation to follow any emergency vehicle. Please keep these tips in mind. That's all there is to report on for now, I'm sorry it's so little. HEAT POLLUTION Heat pollution in Illinois streams is an important research problem relating to the state's water resources. Heat loads have far-reaching implications because they affect the uses of streams. High water temperatures may seriously affect „the efficiency of a city's water treatment processes and affect the large industrial use of surface water as a cooling agent. Excessive heat loads in a stream also adversely affect its ability to purify itself and abrupt changes in temperature may kill aquatic life or discourage the desirable species.
