In view of the bad weather and road ^conditions, a last minute change -was made from the home of Mrs. Harold Padgitt to the Community Methodist church. The cake, cookies and coffee were enjoyed by all. Mrs. Lillian Cox gave a very interesting- talk on the history of many flowers. One March meeting will be replaced by a trip on March 23 to the Chicago World Flower ahd ; Garden Club at McCormiclt' Place. The club will be chartering a bus and will have a limited number of seats available on a first come, first served basis. It will be an all-day trip,' with the bus leaving from the Methodist Church at 9. a.m. The show "time will be "A Salute to the. United. Nations" in honor of its twentieth anniversary. If you are interested got your reservations in early. For either bus or show tickets call Mrs. Fred Dodge, .385-7745. The club was happy to report that Martha Neuharth has been discharged from McHenry Hospital and i&snow recuperating at home. It will be some time before she can get out and her visitors and telephone calls should be limited. However, cards and notes are welcome. Ruth Neel and Alex Duncan would also appreciate an occasional card or note from their friends. On April 29 the meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Vaughn Jones and the program Will be on "Conservation." The Garden Club of Illinois, Inc., of which the McHenry club • is a member, is emphasizing conservation and a great, deal of new material is available. This meeting will be devoted to bringing members up uo date on this vital but interesting subject. At this meeting each . member has been asked to bring a plant they have grown to sell. ENJOY TRIP WEST r The Alford Johnstons have been enjoying a trip West. They travelled by plane, viewing Pike's Peak, the Painted Desert, Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon. Ih Las Vegas, they enjoyed numerous shows featuring some of the country's most prominent entertainers. CARD OF THANKS I tyish to thank all those who remembered me with get well cards, calls, visits, gifts and folw?rs during my recent confinement in the McHenry Hospital. And to Ihe nurses and staff, for their kind consideration and treatment. 3-4-65 Mrs. Mildred HolJy Waucjliierb Again the weather tried--in vain--to "dampen" the enthusiastic loyalty of the members of Bethel 98. Forty-five girls, parents and visitors braved the snow and icy winds to attend the meeting last Thursday. The interpretation of the "Lord's Prayer" was beautifully presented.. Pat Cook, librarian, read an original poem that received compliments from everyone. After a short meeting, everyone went downstairs for refreshments and a White Elephant. Pull. The food prepared by Diane Cook, Karen Larson, Sheila Marshall and JoAnn Wcichmann quickly ffl^appeared as shrieks of excitement accompanied the opening and re-opening of bags. On Sunday, a large group of Job's Daughters and family attended the Methodist church for "Go To Church Sunday". It was. the church of honored queen, Libby Stinespring. Following the service, forty piled into cars and began a progressive dinner. Juice, etc. was served at JoAnn Weichmann's home, with Nancy Winters assisting. From there everyone drove to Debbie Russell's for the salad course, Karen Larson co-hostess. Next--a long drive out to Libby Stinespring's home for the main course, assisted by Laurie Murray. Plates wenf heaped high with good food, but that did not discourage anyone from finishing up with a delicious dessert at Ruth Lightner's, assisted by Lynn Hammerstein. Droopy eyes attested to full stomachs and that delightful feeling of "inner" happiness. Libby Stinespring, reminded everyone that Ruth Lightner would be acting honored queen for Advance Night on March 11. Princesses from'Palatine, Lake Zurich, Arlington Heights and others will be guests officers. Connie "^Sallman urged the girls to remember the pancake breakfast on March 13, serving from 8 a.m. to noon in the basement of the Masonic Temple.
