June Schmunk was re-instated prior to the business meeting. Welcome back, June. Thank-you cards were received by the auxiliary from various people and organizations for gifts and donations which had been given. Jean Wiles reported 125 paidup members.. This leaves us fourteen shy of 100 percent. Get your dues in, Indies, and make this auxiliary 100 percent. Hospital Chairman Kathy Fuhler informed us that she, Francis Pickett and Dr. and Mrs. Buttery attended the last Downey party. She further stated that the veterans really like to have other men visit them. We are asking for any and all volunteers, but especially hojie that some of the men from the post can make it to the next j/.irty. All members are asked to write to their congressman asking that he fight to keep both Dwighi .aid Joli<*t Arsenal V. A. a is open. Wednesday morning found Community Service Chairman Vi Abbink and her helpers, Renee Jende, Gen Bradley, Jean Wiles and Ethel Groth, very busy snipping and clipping newspapers. This was just the beginning of the project of compiling the community service books. All the. work that the post and auxiliary has done in the past year for individuals and for the community as a whole is put into these books in the form of newspaper clippings, cancelled checks, thankyou cards, etc. They * are then sent in to the department. This proof of services rendered fills many pages. The time donated to hospitals, the sjjonsoring of various groups and organizations, the flags that have been presented, the hospital equipment that has been purchased and maintained in order that those that need it may use it free of charge, plus the donation and maintaining of Ihe three baseball fields which have l*?ncfitted hundreds of boys, are just a few of the things that Post 4600 and Auxiliary have been doing to make this community and yes, this country, a better place to live. Those attending the Fifth district meeting were Jean Wiles, Gen Bradley, Marge Moreth and Viola Shuble. The National Auxiliary President, Marie Klugow, of Tracy, Calif., will make her first official visit to Illinois March 11 to 13. She will be honored at a reception in the home of Villa Park Post 2801 on Thursday evening, the eleventh; will address a meeting of (he auxiliary's department council of administration in the LaSalle hotel, on Friday, the twelfth, and a luncheon in her honor will be held on the thirtpen^. Congratulations to membe^ Marge Hess on the birth of her daughter. We hope to see Marge back at the meetings soon.
