Our regular Woman's Club meeting will be the following evening, Thursday, April 1 and this meeting should be very interesting. On the 28th, Chris Tiffany will be 18, Dorothy Stockdale, Adele Kroening. Mary Therese Sweeney, Frank Sweeney and / Greg Bartos all share that day. Greg will be 11. Carol Funk becomes 10 on the 29th, Carl Thompson will be 4 and Florence Piasecki admits to voting age on the 29th. Dorothy Glorch Celebrates on the 30th. The last day of the month has that real nice couple Esther and Harry Cygan sharing their 14th year of wedded bliss. Judy Slonina will be 7, David Brunow becomes an active 3 year old and my nephew ^nd godchild, Ronnie Kamp, will be 12. April 1 has Butch Dowel! reaching age 19. We both hope that each and everyone of you and all those celebrating whose names we don't have get your every wish, hope they include wishes for life long happiness and good health. A belated birthday wish also goes to Evelyn Kaminski who celebrated on St. Patrick's day. Girl Scout Troop 920 March 15, two cadettes came from troop 41. They taught us games and we sang some songs. We have two new members Patti Arient and Janice Pike. Deborah Gladman and Denice Bucaro brought cookies. We reviewed the badge requirements already completed and made plans to finish them and earn our badges. We are still taking orders for Girl Scout cookies. If you would like to buy some or to re-order you can call any Girl Scout in the subdivision. - Respectfully submitted Cathy Humann, scribe. Brownie Our Brownie meeting started with flag ceremony and taking of attendance and dues. There Was a discussion on having officers and letting the girls run the troop with guidance from the leaders. We then sang songs. Christine Sweeney served delicious homemade banana cupcakes. Patti Laursen is hostess for next week. We played the Knot Game and Cynthia Kamp played her violin for us. The meeting was ended with taps being sung. Bowling The bowling league is coming into the finish line with only one more night of bowling before sweepstake. Our last two nights we will bowl in McHenry because of tournaments in Johnsburg. At the top of the league the Dodgers have won 18 points and lost 6, the Braves have 14% points, the Cubs have won 13, the Pirates have 12 M>, the Orioles have 12, the Sox took 11 points, the Mets have 9 points and the Yankees have 6 points. See you April 3. Christening Richard Thomas, son of Bob and Jessie Matthews, was christened last Sunday, by Reverend Carder at the Community Methodist church. Barb and Ron -Meurer had the honor of being his sponsors. Following the service a delicious ham dinner was served by Jessie Matthews with the Meurer family as guests. In the afternoon, Jessie's folks and three of her sisters with their families came out from Chicago for cake and coffee. Grandma and Grandpa Haerle were also over for cake and coffee and took quite a few pictures of the occasion. Best Wishes are going to the following members of our subdivision who celebrate very special days dur- Get-Well Wishes are extended to David Quast who is down with the mumps, Mick Daurio was home all last week with the bug which left him a mighty sick lad, Rich Mercure had surgery on his hand. Steve Hoard is hospitalized and Ken Vanek has been released and will be able to return to work after his long hospital stay. Shirley Koch is not feeling up to par and Max also had several bad days last week. We're glad to report that Sue Grizley has returned home after her very long stay in the hospital. Lee Glorch has returned to her home. Helen Kraskiewicz is home from her hospital stay but still unable to get around too much with that heavy cast on. We both hope that by next week you will all be feeling much better. Pink Bundle The Schillace family on Flower street welcomed another daughter into their home. Little Patricia made her entrance into "this wonderful world . on March 16 at McHenry hospital, weighing in at 7 lbs., 6 ozs. and was ISH inches long. Waiting at home besides her folks, Lucy and Jerry, are four brothers and sisters. May the Schillace family be watched over by the good Lord and give them many blessings. Strolling Through The Park Fran and Bill Quast and their children spent a very lovely weekend in Little Rock, Ark. last week. Fran said that flowers are blooming, trees are in bud and grass is green out that way. They hated to come back to our cold weather. On March 16, Doug Miyaki celebrated his birthday with a party in his honor. A beautiful cake decorated with Beanie and Cecil on it was served to Gary Niemi, Mike and Danny Ladd, Steve Bruno Knor and Billy Oakford. Doug was 6 years old on the 15th. Ronald and Buzzy Miyaki and Joyce and Frank Dort enjoyed the corn beef and cabbage dinner at the VFW last week. Mary Humann had a delayed birthday party last Friday. It was supposed to have been Wednesday but because of the storm had to be postponed. The theme was green for St. Patrick's day. Katie Uttich, Kathleen Campo, Colleen Rogers, Kathy Brooks, Cynthia and Christine Doherty were her guests. Jo Riz2o is baby sitting with her nephew's one year old boy while his mother is recuperating. The whole family is really spoiling this baby and enjoying every minute of it. They also had Grandma Rizzo out for the weekend. Dotti and Irv Becker are hoping that the owners of a black and white male rtog will please, drop by their house on Home Avenue and pick up what belongs to them. Seems the Becker household is much too crowded at the present time. Carl Elshoff was once again a visitor at the Kamp home last week. Bettc, Bill and Carl enjoyed many games of their favorite card game Mille Bornes. St. Mary's school participated in the musicial program held last Sunday in Aurora. From our subdivision taking part were Cindy Kamp, Dolly Myers and Ma,ry and Michael Johnson. Taking part in the bowling tournament in Woodstock on Saturday evening were Lloyd Wagnei'i Tony Kalva, Gene Fozcz, Frank Dort and Dick Walinski. Hope their team did real well.. The tournament will continue this Saturday. Remember to use the mail box at the Corner Store. Sunday dinner guests of Rose and Ed Oswald were the Druml family and Barb and Joe Herman of Lake Marie. Dinner was delicious, grandma. A very tan and relaxed Delia Julian has returned to our midst after a two month stay in Sarasota, Fla. The Martin Cahill family hail from Marinette, Wis., and had cdme down here for the weekend to warm up. Wonder if they brought the bad weather? Tripoley was enjoyed at the home of Ruth McMahon. Every thing was in keeping with St. Patrick's day theme. It was also sl birthday party for Ruth and the beautifully decorated cake had playing card designs all over it. Helping Ruth celebrate were Delia Julian, Louise McEnery, Edna Hountras, Grace Mandziara, Ivy Lezak, Lucille Deitz and Ann Herzog. On Saturday evening Ruth and her husband Olio were hosts to the entire Tripoley group along with their husbands. ; Helen and Gene Kraskiewicz also made the Saturday affair. We both wish Ruth belated birthday greetings, her day was oil March 12. Hank Koehl and his family Sympathy is extended to over the death of his sister in Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. Douglass were guests of Joan and Paul Schwegel on Sunday. Joan enjoyed her folks visit very much. A novelty shower honoring Arlene Bartos was held at the home of Jo Rizzo last Thursday. Enjoying the entire evening besides the guest of honor and the hostess Were Jean Parisi, Lyda Radisch, Petey Oakford, Ruth Roach, Bev Wickenkamp. Margo Schaedie, Vicky Bottari, Delores Rogers, Pearl Koester and Marge Casey. Heard they had a terrific time. Bridge was fhe order of the day at Ruth McMahon's home last week. Delicious refreshments were served to the following Jadies, Ann Herzog, Louise McEnery Ivy Lezak, Lucille Deitz. Ann Leigh, Delia Julian, Gayle Laursen and Ruth Chadwick. Ruth took first and Louise McEnery came in second. - Susy Gerstad attended the ice show in Chicago with her Girl Scout Troop on Saturday. Susy is a member of troop 564 of McHenry. Susy's brother, Del ,was one of a trombone trio that earned a superior rating and they will participatjb in/ state competition later. Del is a member of the Junior High school, band that will play at Bolvidere on Saturday. Several other of our youngsters will also take part. It's real nice to have such talented youngsters among our residents. Volley Ball for tlie Ladies Anyone interested in playing volley ball on Thursday evenings is urged to conlact Shirley Koch at 385-3426. Every fourth Thursday of the month they have a game between the ladies and the men and they really have a ball. Give Shirl a call ladies,, if'Il help that ever increasing waist line problem and you'll also enjoy yourself. DEAD ANIMAL DISPOSAL Robert M. Schneider, director of the Illinois Department of Agriculture, has issued a reminder and warning to persons engaged in the business of dead animal disposal. Those so engaged are required to be licensed by the Illinois Department of Agriculture. Trucks used to pick up dead animals, fish or -poultry or parts of same, including Used grease, bones and fat, from processors are required to have a state license. Any person having or1, caring for a dead animal is required by law to dispose of the body within 24 hours after death by burying, burning or removal in a truck for this purpose. Persons having any knowledge of suspected violations • should report same to the Envision of Livestock Industry, .. Illinois Department of Agriculture, State Fairgrounds, Springfield.
