All members are urged to attend. Members will elect officers for 1965-66, and will meet candidates seeking election to the Harrison district 36 and McHenry High School District 156 school boards. Following the business session, the meeting will adjourn to inspect the work of Harrison students in their annual Science Fair. The Science Fair is under/ the direction of George Guetzloff, Junior high teacher. It has grown in scope and scir entific achievement, and drama* ticaily emphasizes the instruction and knowledge that youngsters gain at the grade,school level in science subjects. , Harrison PTA membership has more than doubled this yeaiv with 281 parents' and teachers enrolled. All should attend the meeting that starts at 8 p.m. in Harrison school, Tuesday, April 6. Present Slate Nominations from the floor will be accepted for the PTA election. A slate of the following candidates was presented at the last meeting: For president, Maxine C. Bixby, incumbent ; vice-president, Gloria Freund; secretary, Jean Decker, incumbent, and treasurer, Marcella Parker. School board candidates invited to present their qualifications are Harrison District 36: Incumbents, Dr. S. L. Ruggero ancLWilliam Cristy; and Jay W. Cristy Jr., Lewis E. Belshaw, George Street, Jack Van Kanegan, James W. Tarvin and Sam Lamtmt. The eight candidates are l-seeking election to three vacancies on the Harrison boaifd. The unexpired term of Dr. Raymond H. Watkins, who resigned, is being filled by appointment by James Robison, who is not seeking election to a full term. Other Candidates Invited from McHenry High district 156 are: Incumbent, Arthur Stilling; and Dr. J. Eugene Saj^er, Mrs. George Alvary, Duane Andreas and Dr. Leslie Krieger. Two vacancies are to be filled on the McHenry high McHenry Hospital Mr- and Mrs. Richard Doherty are the proud parents of a son born March 30. The young man will be welcomed by a brother, Dick, 16, two sisters, Shipley, 14, and Terry Beth, 7. A 7 lb. 12 oz., girl was borri March 28 ,to Mr. and Mrs. Russell' Hopp. Mrs. Hopp is the former Georgiann Posthuma, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Posthuma, and' the paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Victor Hopp. A. son was born March 21 to Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Galetka. Mrs. Thefen is the former "Bunny" Stoffel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs." Jake Stoffel of Pistakee Highlands, and the paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Johrj Thelen of Johnsburg. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Miller of 1010' N. River road, announce the birth of their first child, a daughter, Kimberly Marie, on March 28, at Sherman hospital, Elgin. Mrs. Miller is the former Judith Steadman, daughter "of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Steadman of Lakemoor. The patel-nal grandparents are Mr. and-Mrs. Joseph J. Miller of Washington street. The school board elections are Saturday, April 10, from noon until 7 p.m. The voting precinct for both the Harrison and McHenry board, for Wonder Lake residents, is Harrison school. Mr. and Mrs.- Charles Vycital s^pent a few days last week with their, son, LtVjVIark Vycital, and wife at Stewart Air Force Base, near Nashville, Tenn. Lt. Vycital was leaving for California where in early April, he will take a jet for Okinawa where he will be stationed for 2 Ms years. His wife plans, to join him there, later, when arrangements can be made. Miss Eleanor Heil of Milwaukee was entertained by McHenry relatives and friends over the weekend. Mrs. Hetty Reichow of Chicago was a McHenry visitor- Thursday night and Friday. Mr. and Mrs. William E. Jordan of Downers Grove were Sunday guests of his parents, the William A. Jordans. Winfield Hagberg, Walter Freund and Joseph Williams have returned from a three weeks vacation in Sarasota, Fla. They attended five ball games, while there, called on the Stephen Schmitts in St. Petersburg and visited other Mends in Clearwater and Largo. "Mr. and Mrs. Bill Becknell, Erin and Jeffery, of Hebron, were Sunday evening visitors in the Frank C. Meyer home. Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Olsen called in the Charles Olsen home in Richmond, Sunday, and later were visitors in the home of Mr. Olsen's sister; Mrs. Thurlow York, in Sharon, Wis. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Adams, Cindy, Jill and Brian, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Conway, Mr. and "Mrs. William Weyland, Kristi, Billy, Johnny and Joey attended a family get-together at the Jack Whalen home in Elgin Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Lockwood were Saturday guests in the home of their son, Laverne Lockwood, in Lake Geneva, Wis. Mr. and" Mrs. George Duesler have returned from a ten weeks vacation in Clearwater and St. Petersburg, Fla. Mr. and Mrs. Alfons Adams visited Andy Sundal at his home in Grayslake, Sunday, where he is recovering from a leg fracture. Mr. and Mrs. Alex Adams attended the wake of A. W. Gast, a former resident of this vicinity in Evanston Saturday. Sister Junella of St. Joseph's Convent, Milwaukee, visited relatives here this week where she was called by the illness of her father, Henry J. Stilling. Mr. and Mrs. Michael Thill, Janice and David of Aurora visited her mother, Mrs. Anna Diedrich, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. John R. Freund, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Jung and Mr. and Mrs. Leo Blake accompanied by Mrs. Eleanor Manning of Oak Park saw the ice show in Chicago Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Jung remained to spend Monday with Mrs. Manning. Mrs. Jane Metch returned to her home in Wheeling Tuesday after a few days visit in the home of Mrs. Clara Wallin. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Steilen and the latter's mother, Mrs. Art Hoessleur, of Hinsdale called on the former's mother, Mrs. Kathryn Steilen, Sunday. Dr. and Mrs. Henry Freund were recent guests of their daughter, Mrs. Ernestine Christian, in Chicago. . Mrs. Freida Bienapfl of Skokie was a visitor in the Fred Bienapfl home a few days this week. Rt. 31, McHenry, a senior in the college of liberal arts, University of New Hampshire, has been named as one of 900 on the dean's list for outstanding academic achievement during the first semester. She attained the "honors" rating for 3.0 to 3.4 "B" work. CARD OF THANKS I would like to take this way of expressing my sincere appreciation for cards, prayers and visits during my recent illness. The many remembrances meant so very much to me. Mrs. John Grasser 4-1-65 Obituaried PETER E. LINDEMULDER Peter E. Lindernulder of 3605 W. John Street, McHenry, died Saturday, March 27, in McHenry hospital, where he had been confined for only two and a half days. He was 72 years of age. Mr. Lindernulder, who had resided in McHenry for about eight years, was born Sept. 4, 1892, in Holland. He was a retired inspector for the U.S. Navy. The deceased was a veteran of World War I. He belonged to McHenry Legion Post No. 491, AF & AM McHenry Lodge, No. 158, and the Shriners Temple in Rockford. His only survivor is his wife, Aleta Belle. The body rested at the George R. Justen & Son funeral home, where Masonic services were held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Burial was in Woodland cemetery. . MARGARET L. PORTEN Margaret L. Porten, 66, one of the early pioneers in the Island Lake area, died Monday, March 29, at Conriell Memorial hospital, Libertyville, following a long illness. Mrs. Porten was born May 28, 1898. She and her husband founded Porten's subdivision in 1921 and opened their business in 1924. The deceased was a member of the legion of Mary of the Altar and Rosary Society of Transfiguration church. Wauconda. A Gold Star mother, she was one of the founders of Porten's Grandmothers Club. Her husband, Peter J., preceded her in death in 1954, a son, Robert, at age 4, and Lt. Walter Porten, a pilot in World War II, was killed in service in 1944. Survivors include three sons, Peter, Jr., and Raymond of Porten's subdivision and Earl J. of Wauconda, three daugh- , ters, Catherine Baird, Eileen Wood and Margaret Dehne, all of Porten's subdivision; nineteen grandchildren and three brothers, Jack, Luke and Walter Schuler. The body rested at the Wauconda funeral home until 10 o'clock Thursday morning, when Mass will be sung at Transfiguration church, followed by interment in St. Boniface cemetery, Chicago. JAMES BEAVIS Friends of James E. Beavis, a former McHenry businessman, will learn with regret 6f his death, which occurred March 15 in Portland, Oregon. Funeral services were held in Vancouver, Wash. Mr. Beavis was bom in Suffolk, England on Aug. 26, 1889. He went to Canada in 1909 and served in the Canadian Army in World War I: In 1920 he came to this country, and resided in McHenry prior to moving to Crystal Lake. He operated a tailor sftop near the corner of Green and Elm. He is survived by his widow, Alice; a son, Walter, of Loveland, Colo.; a daughter, Mrs. Joyce Wasnoska, of Vancouver, Wash.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. JENNIE HARRIS Funeral services were held in Chicago for Mrs. Jennie Harris, 82, who resided with a daughter, Mrs. Ernest Vogt, at 4205 E. Lake Shore Drive, Wonder Lake. Mrs. Harris died Thursday. March 25, in McHenry hospital. The deceased was born Dec. 29. 1882, in Ashland City, Tenn., daughter of Frank and Ella Albritton. Her husband, William F. Harris, preceded her in death. Besides Mrs. Vogt, she leaves another daughter, Mrs. William (Zona) Gray of Chicago; a son, Ernest O., of Evergreen Park; eight grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren: two sisters, Mrs. Mamie Gibbs of Ashland City, Tenn., and Mrs. Carrie Gibbs of Spaulding, Idaho; and a brother, John Albritton, of ' Ashland City, Tenn. The body was taken from McHenry to the Horrtburg and Son chapel. Burial was in Fairmount cemetery, Willow Springs. Local arrangements were made by the Peter M. Justen & Son funeral home. Washington Street, Mc Henry, died at the Villa Rest Home at Pistakee Bay Thursday, March 25, following,an ill ness of about two months. She was a lifelong resident of the community. Miss Weber was born June 1, 1879, in McHenry a daughter of Anton and Mary Bandes Weber. Her only survivors are several nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Catherine Weber and Mrs. Emma Miller; and three brothers.
