Mrs. Anne Gruner has resigned as recording secretary due to the illness , of her husband so Barbara Pogor has consented tp take over the job for the remaining term. Barb requests that any of us that hear of someone in your section being ill Qr a death to contact one of the girls on the committee so that cards may be sent. Also if new people move in get in tpuch with Dorothy Koleno, Ruth Jenner or Audrey Whitney so that they are welcomed into the Shores. The state of the roads was not forgotten but the weather plays an important part,in the repair so let's all hope it gets nice as some of our streets are in a sorry mess. It. has been decided that the bake sale will be held on June 26 at Justen's Furniture so get out. your favorite recipe as some one will be calling you on this. The fall dance will be held on Nov. 13 at the Johnsburg Community Hnll on 2315 W. Church street. We will have the same orchestra as last year. More on these two events as they come up. Someone commented about the condition of the water, it being cloudy and bubbly. Bob Harper tells us that there is something wrong with one of the valves in the pumping station and they hope to have it repaired this week. There is nothing wrong with the water however so don't be afraid to drink it. The payment of the dues and sale of car stickers continue to be slow, how about you, are you paid up? Pat Mueller Chosen in Youth Power Congress Pat Mueller was one of the 162 national delegates to attend the recent 'National Youth ' Power Congress' held in Chicago from March 24 to the 27th. , She was selected to represent northeastern Illinois at the Congress because of her interest in a balanced nutritional ' • program for the teen-agers, who comprise about 12 per. cent of the population in the United States. •rt Food industry people high lighted the 'Farm to Table' story and Olympic leaders Rev. Robert Richards and Muriel Davis Grossfeld also participated. It was not all work however as the delegates had one evening on the town with a food industry tour on Friday afternoon. Pat attended the ice show with the other Illinois delegates and her tour was to a salt company. At the closing session all delegates received • materials to help them continue the good eating habit crusade in their local areas. Pat is available to present the nutrition story to any of the local clubs and organizations that would have a spot on their program for her presentation. Brods Welcome Grandson " Neva and Philip Brod proudly announce their first grandson presented to them by son, Richard, and his wife, Gail. The little boy, David Philip, was born March 25 and weighed in •' at 7 lbs., IOMJ OZS. and is now at home doing just fine. Congratulations to all the Brods on this happy event. McCarrolls Have a Baby Bill and Pat McCarroll who reside at 3506 Biscayne had a tiny baby girl born on March •' 10. The baby was born 2% weeks early and weighed 3 lbs 12 ozs. at birth but is already' • up to 5 lbs., 7 ozs. Pat stayed at her mother's in Peoria while recuperating and the baby is in a hospital down there. They hope to get her home this weekend. This little bundle was named Kelly Marie, and she sure was tiny. Pat will be home now and would love to see some of her neighbors, since .their house is just a bit away from the rest i of the homes, so when the ^ weather gets better stop by and say hi to her. Sick List We w^rje sorry to hear that Richard " Gruner had suffered a slight stroke;, but is doing . very well now, due to the excellent care of his good wife, Anne. Ruth Dodge is in St. Joseph's , hospital in Chicago. Pat is Roberta's sister. Last Sunday Doris and Fritz Wetzel drove to Edison Park and joined the Senior Wetzels for a gettogether. The Olbinskis entertained Ed s sifter and her husband over the weekend, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Matysik, and their .son, John. Barb and her son, Paul, are having lunch with Phylis Schweikert in Eastwood Manor today. Watch that diet Barb. The usual group of ladies attended the Lecture Luncheon Club held at the Country Club on Wednesday. Ann Marsters gave a talk 'Around the World in a Hat Box' and all the girls are, now ready to go someplace on a vacation. Roberta Mieritz bowled last Saturday in a county tournament in Richmond. No fabulous scores to announce, Roberta says she just bowled. On Friday Roberta and the family went to Arlington Heights and had a delicious fish fry with the Ray Hall family. Ing Corcoran came back from Florida last Sunday to shiver in our cold weather after 80 degree temperatures for two weeks. While down in Vero Beach visiting her sister Ing took in some ball games played by the Dodgers who are in spring training down there. Ing says she had a grand and glorious time and after the round of parties and seeing the sights she spent most of this week just recuperating from her vacation. Activities in the. MILK ORDER The U. S. Department of Agriculture's announcement that the amended Chicago Federal milk market order went into effect on April 1 means that all Chicago market dairy farmers will continue to be assured at least the * Federal order price for their milk, A. L. McWilliams, general manager of Pure Milk Association, commented this week. The necessary two-thirds favorable vote to put the amended order into effect was attained when all Wisconsin dairy operating cooperatives which had voted against the amended order reversed their vote and approved the proposed order Monday. TAX INCREASE APRIL 10 This coming Saturday, April 10, there will be voting at the Ringwood school, between the hours of 12 noon and 7 p.m. You will be voting for a new board member to take the 3 year expired term of E. G. Winters. I have not heard as of this writing just who is running for this 3 year term, so cannot give you any names. The other two board members are Clayton Brute; President, and J. P. WaLkington, Secretary. A very important voting will also take place on a special ballot concerning the taxes for the School -District No. 34 (Ringwood1^ School). "Shall the maximum tax rate for the educatiortal fund of School District No. 3.4, McHenry County, Illinois, be increased to 1.123 per cent on full, fair cash value instead of .913 per cent, the maximum rate otherwise applicable to the next taxes to be extended?" The Board estimates that the approximate amount of taxes extendible for educational purposes under the proposed rate is $35,102.04; and that the approximate amount of taxes extendible for educational purposes under the maximum rate otherwise applicable is $28,- 537,99. Each and every one of those eligible for voting should practice their right to vote by going to the polls and voting which ever way they wish. There will be caucus held immediately preceding the opening of the polls for the purpose of nominating a candadte for the opening 3 year term. W.S.C.S. To Hold Rummage Sale On Friday from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. the ladies of the W.S.C.S. will hold their annual spring rummage sale in the basement of the Ringwood Methodist church. Entertains Friends At Birthday Party Resae Ackerman entertained a group of her friends at a birthday party, held in her home on Saturday afternoon. Resae's mom, Mrs. Charles Ackerman, served all the youngsters cake and ice cream, after the gifts were opened. Here 'N' There Mr. and Mrs. James Wiedrich called on their grandmother, Mrs. Fred Wiedrich, Sr., on Thursday. On Wednesday, Mrs. L. E. Hawley, Mrs. Ruby Shepard, Mrs. Nellie Hepburn, Mrs. Robert Brennan, and daughter, Linda, were Elgin and Meadowdale visitors. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Carr of McHenry called on Mr. and Mrs. Lester C\1rr on Sunday. On Wednesday afternoon, Miss Mae Wiedrich and Mrs. Flora Carr called on Mr. and Mrs. Joe Coates in Woodstock.
