Thursday* April 8* 1985 fHE1 McHENRlT PLAINDEALER Sfcciioxt Thiee SUNNYSIDE ESTATES FRAN OLSEN 386-5740 LUCKY LADIES WITH NEW HATS CONDUCT MEETING Bad-Leather as usual, but the hat party went on! But such Spring atmosphere in the De- Francisco basement: a riot of colors and flpwers. 'Hats, hats everywhere and which one should I choose?, The one op HER head! '--was frequently the answer. But that only helped the process of elimination and expedited a decision that was difficult to make in a choice so varied. Then the happily-hatted Lucky Ladies settled into their chairs with their spare purchases tucked safely beside them, to conduct the business meeting of March 31. According to the by-laws which were read and approved, the April meeting will be the annual meeting at which elections shall take place. It is felt by the present officers wha were assembled by a rather irregular process to direct the; club until an orderly election could be held after by-laws ha<^ been drawn up, that the first regular election of officers should take place at this next meeting, which will be held April 28 at the home of Gene Gerke. The by-laws will be officially adopted at that meeting also. Be sure to be there. Easter Events The next event to be sponsored by the Lucky Ladies will be the Easter egg hunt and drawing contest. Instead of coloring a picture of an Easter bunny, this year each child may submit his own interpretation of that grand old rabbit. The drawing may be done in any medium on a 9x12" paper of any sort. The contest will be judged in age groups, of course: (4 years and under, 5-7, 8-10. and 11 years and up) by a panel of impartial judges, i.e., residents who have no small children. NOTE: do not put your name on your drawing. Only your age. When you deliver your drawing to the Stephens home at 2005 Indian Ridge, your paper will be assigned a number, which will be entered along with your hame on the entry long sheet, so there will be no identification on the drawings themselves. Prizes will be awarded to one boy and one girl in each age group. All entries must be received on April 15. The Easter egg hunt will be held on Holy Satui'day, April 17, at 1 p.m., in the picnic area on the south side of Grandview Drive (opposite 1814 Grandview). All children of the Estates through age twelve may participate in the hunt: Bring your own bags or baskets. The eggs will be colored and supplied by the members of the LLC and anyone else who wishes to do so. All eggs should be delivered to the Simmons residence at 1802 W. Grandview by April 16. SEHOA At the regular quarterly meeting of the Sunnyside Estates Homeowners Association, Inc., held at Johnsburg school on the evening of April X, a plaque was presented to past president Jim Leahy for his achievements and his outstanding services to our community during his term of office. Gunnar Johansen was selected to be the chairman of the membership committee. President Mel Simmons reassured all residents that any deterioration in tbe roadfr or ditches will be remedied by ttye township as soon as weather permits. Happy Anniversary To Stan and Jackie Smolinski who will be celebrating their fourteenth year of marriage on the 14th. Here's to a lovely evening and many, many more years of happiness together. Candle'Gapers Just as melodious as. their names, was their party: the little guests wailed their tunes into the mike and then .heard them back on the tape recorder and were judged by the applause given each number, at the birthday supper party of 'Melody and Merily Fail on March 31. Among the twentyfour guests who enjoyed the singing and hot dogs, were Pat and Mike MauLe, Kasey and Patty Anderson, Jimmy and Patty Williams, Cindy Simmons, Debbie Fuqua, Luana and Rosemary Kaylcr and Ernie Olsen. Fun, fun time, and the first prize went to a Jack-and- Jill duet. Not every one-year-old gets a phone call from his grandparents on.his birthday. But Daniel Patrick Williams did -- all the way from Florida! WHOSE a. doting grandparent?? For a new twist to an old hat, three year old Donny Jensen and his little guests played "pin the hat on the cowboy" at his party on March 28. Enjoying the performances of the little ones were Grandma and Grandpa Barger, Uncle Bob and Aunt Anita of Crystal Lake, and. the Hintz family of Elgin, "Donny had a ball" reports Daddy. On Sunday Herb Fischer and his wife, Marge, took a drive to one of their favorite spots in Delavan for his birthday dinner. 'Twas the day before her birthday and with not a word about it from a soul, Claire Hoettels was getting a bit unhappy and without an interesting project on tap for the day. She was progressively getting very bored all the while husband Howard was absorbed in one golf game after another on TV. But before she got around to vocalizing her feelings, the Stephens and the Palmers "dropped in for a drink" around 4 p.m. and shortly, thereafter daughter, Bobbie, and her fartiily from Western Springs arrived for the "SURPRISE!!" -- the whole party had been planned by one grand husband. He had made all the arrangements for the dinner and all. "It was the first party he ever gave me," exclaimed Claire, and he sure did it up right. ROAD CONDITIONS DISCUSSED DURING ASSOCIATION MEET The Board of Directors of the Holiday Hills Property Owners Association met at the ranchhouse on Wednesday evening, March 31. The most important business at hand was, of course, the roads. Everyone living here is aware of the problem we have. If you live, aijy distance into the subdivision, you hold your breath and keep your fingers crossed that you make it home without losing your car on the way. The board went to work making calls the night of the meeting and had truckloads of gravel and a grader out working the very next morning. With ground conditions as they are at present, we cannot engage in any extensive road repairs, but without the measures taken last week, we wouldn't even be using our roads how. Just how much can be done when the weather permits depends largely on the cooperation of the home owners. These repairs are costly. If you have forgotten your dues this year, won't you pay them now? If yofl've never paid dues before, isn't it worth the nominal fee to have the roads in repair and the snow plowed? If you haven't been contacted personally, send your check to Bill Boettcher at 1511 West Pine. Condolences Our most sincere sympathy to Earline Mettelka and her family on the loss of her beloved mother, Mrs. Grace Dickerson from Dupo, 111.
