On April 20 we went to Mrs. Johnson's house to make something for our fathers to wear at the banquet. Respectfully submitted Cathy Humann. •Eokharts Celebrate 25th Anniversary A date arranged by mutual friends at the North West Hall in Chicago over twenty-six years ago led to a very wonderful celebration honoring Nedra and Les Eckhart last Saturday evening at the community hpuse. The occasion was in honor of their "Silver or 25th anniversary." Nedra and Les said their marriage vows at a beautiful ceemony in the home of Npdra's parents. Nedra's mother, Mrs. Georgia Chamblin, had an article from a Chicago paper which gave full description frf their lovely white wedding of April 20, 1940. The only meml>er of the bridal party able-to attend the anniversary was Nedra's flower girl who is her niece, Mrs. Carol Martin. Illness kept her maid of honor, Helen Chapman, from attending and distance kept Les's best man, Harold Gaylor of California, from being present. Among.the seventy-five people who attended the affair were Nedra's mother, Mrs. Chamblin, her brother and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Chamblin, her two sisters and their husbands. Mr. and Mrs. James Goold, Mr; and Mrs. Loroy Dalton, Aunt Bessie Huffman came from Nappanee, Ind., and grandma Eve Goethal came from Delavan, Wis., the Walter Haugs from McHenry and the Vern Kummers from Skokie as well as all the members of the Daughter's Club and their husbands along with good friends of the Eckharts from the park joined in wishing them another wonderful coming 25 years. The community house was beautifully decorated in silver and white and the tables were also in silver, white and crystal. Food was very abundant and very delicious. The Eckharts' very good friends, Charlene and Dick Wimmer, along with Marie and Norb Kwiatek were in charge of the party and were assisted by Joanne Plucinski, Donna and Norbie Kwiatek, Kay and Ed Druml, Connie and Ralph Bostler. They received many very wonderful gifts and it was certainly a wonderful party held fpr a very wonderful couple. We're looking forward for your "Golden Anniversary" party. Nedra and Les's son, Bill, also worked very hard in honoring his mom and dad and was so very proud of them. The girls worked on projects for the Mother's Tea which is to be next Tuesday, May 4. The treat was served by Karen Roepken. Cynthia Kamp is hostess next week. Songs were sung. Cleanup was made and the magic tunnel closed the meeting. The Creek It was brought to our attention that children were seen throwing boards in the creek last Sunday. May begins with Kenny Bottari turning 4, Joan Dort will be 5, Donna Kwiatek will be 17 and Donna Dort celebrates. Matt Bott and Bill Kamp both share May 2. Janice Parisi adds a year on the 3rd. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Jensky celebrate their 44th year of togetherness. Dorothy Humphreys shares the 4th along with Chris and Rich Mercure, who celebrate their second year of wedded bliss. Suzanne Faunt will be 1 and shares the date with Jean Hahndorf on the 5th. Sheryl Koehl will be 6 on the 6th, Gary Braun will be 11 and Jimmy Gray all share the same day. The season is getting close to the beginning and it's hoped that many new faces will be at the meeting tonight. Managers will be calling their players to let them know when practices will be held by their teams. Strolling Through The Park A surprise baby shower was held at Vickie Bottari's last Thursday, April 22, with Penny Veenhius being the guest of honor. Those attending were Great-grandma Adams, Grandma Adams, Shirley Hutt, Donna Stoltz, Ruth Roach, Carol Cynowa, LaVerne Hromec and Vicki. Heard she received a lot of nice things. Bob Kozy's folks came out Sunday and enjoyed an afternoon of bowling with Bob and Jan. They were celebrating Bob and Jan's anniversary. Jan Kozy, Toots Gerstad, Shirley George and Barb Meurer attended a surprise baby shower for Joy Dass in Wonder Lake last Tuesday. Everyone enjoyed looking at the adorable little outfits that they have for little girls now. Joy's baby, Heidi Lynn, was two weeks old the day of the shower. The Rizzos had a house full last Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Geltner, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Geltner and their daughter, Joyce, Frank Geltner, Jr., and his girl friend, Judy, and Grandma Rizzo all coming out to watch Pauiette in the play at Marion high school. They all enjoygd the play very mUch. Kimberly. Ludwig celebrated her First Communion Day with all her aunts and uncles coming out to join the occasion. A delicious buffet was served by her mother, Judy, to her family; Bill and Rhoda Osinski and two daughters, Pat and Lindy Nichols and five children, Ginger Lawyer and son, Mark, Kathy and Bud Ramey and one - child, Jerry and Mariane Osinski, and Grandma Osinski with daughters, April, Carol, and sons, Tommy and David. From Fred's family there were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ludwig (grandma and grandpa), Michael, Tony and Coreen Ludwig and three children, Bobby and Fay Ludwig and three children and his sister Bernadette and her boy friend, Bob. There was also Howard and Darlene Wagner and their two boys and Leona and Harlan Wagner. It was quite a houseful for a gloomy day like it was last Sunday. Grandma and Grandpa Reid and Grandma and Grandpa Haerle were over at Matthews home Sunday for coffee and cake to help celebrate Jessie's birthday^ Saturday evening Bob and Jessie Matthew were joined by Shirley and Marv George, Barb and Ron Meurer, John and Maureen Johnson, and Shirley Koch in a trip to Chicago to see a movie to celebrate their anniversary. After the show they enjoyed dinner out. Glad to report that little Tommy Mueller, the boy who was struck by a car while riding his bicycle on Meadow Lane last week, was not injured seriously. Except for some bruises he is doing fine. We're glad to report that both Edith Lavin and Bette Kamp are both home from their hospital stays. Glad they both feel much, much better. Mary Beth Humann was a* mong the young ladies receiving her First Holy Communion at St. Patrick's on Sunday. Grandma Neuenfeldt was out for the weekend and grandma and grandpa Humann came out Sunday for dinner and the day. Lou and Jim McEnery had Ann Herzog, Delia Julian, Ruth and Orlo McMahon as guests on Saturday evening. The group enjoyed many card games and delicious morsels of fattening refreshments. Colleen Rogers was guest of honor to forty members of her relatives who had gathered in honor of her First Holy Communion. Colleen was very pleased with her own special day. Laura Lindquist was among the Communicants and had her party on Easter. Another very terrific anniversary "Open House" party was held Sunday at the home of Mr; and Mrs. Bill Federenko on Beach Avenue. Relatives from Chicago, friends from various places, neighbors all honored Gloria and Bill's twentieth year of wedded bliss at what we heard was a very nice party. Marty Hendle will be guest of honor today, April 29, for a birthday party. Marty will be that very active and wonderful age of 5 and for the occasion his mom Kitty is having several of his neighborhood friends in for a very typical birthday party. Tuesday of this week Kitty and her fellow bowlers of the C.D.A. league attended dinner at the Old Orchard Country Club. Kathy Becker was on the sick list during the past week. Kathy felt doubly bad because her day and a half off from school was the first she had missed all year. -Glad you're feeling much improved now. Gerry, Lloyd, Tom, Sharon and Dave Wagner had Gerry's sister's family as guest on Sunday. Jean, Larry and the three Harrison boys call Meadow Dale home. Sharon had prepared the meal which included homemade bread, blueberry pie and all sorts of delicious tidbits. The male members of the family spent part of their day fishing. Missed talking to Joan Schwegel for last week's column but heard that they had spent the Easter weekend in Milwaukee and went to see the Cubs and Braves game on Sunday. They were disappointed with the Cubs loss £>ut had a ball anyway. The Cubs team had also stayed at .the same place so they got to visit with several of the players and also got in on the Easter Egg hunt which ran into the thousands of eggs in total. Sounds like they had a terrific time. Friday of last week saw Gayle Laursen going into the city to pick up her two nieces, Janet and Kathy Laursen, and bringing them back to the park to spend the week with the Laursen family. Janet is a very active 2 year old and Kathy is 6 months old. Saturday, Gayle had a group of ladies in for a session . of cards and gab fest. Enjoying the evening besides Gayle were Wilma Atkinson, Sue Funk, Mickey Gladman. Monday of next week will see Gayle and her mom, Mrs. Thorsen, leaving for a vacation in Canada. It will be a sight seeing tour and also to visit the many relatives they have up there. Hope you have a marvelous trip, Gayle, you deserve it. The Eckhardts weekend guest was Grandma Eve from Delavan, Wis. She came down on Saturday afternoon via cab just to be sure - she wouldn't miss the party. That's really friendship. Her son, Gordon, came down on Sunday to visit with the Eckharts and. to take his mom back to the "'Dairy State". Grandma'" Eve, it was a real pleasure to meet you, you're a very terrific person. Easter^uests at Vicki and Lon Bottari's home were members of the family who hadn't been together for nine.years on this holiday. Tripoley was the order of entertainment on Wednesday afternoon and .enjoying the afterternoon and all the delicious tidbits were Delia Julian, Louise McEnery, Ruth McMahon, Edna Hountras, Grace Mandziara and Ann Herzog. Katie Uttich received her First Holy Communion at St. Patrick's on Sunday. Grandma and grandpa Klomann came out from the city to spend the weekend. Katie's godmother and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Uttich, and their children came from Wheaton. The Jerry Herkes family from McHenry and Katie's real good friend, Diane Stilling, all spent the day with Katie. Among the guests attending Sally Wielock's tenth birthday party from the subdivision were Pam Messel, Susie Gerstad, Roberta Quast and Patty Arient. It was a real nice party. Susie Gerstad and her dad attended the Girl Scout, Father- Daughter banquet last Wednesday evening. They enjoyed the evening immensely.
