Woman's Club Meeting Tonight The Lakeland P^rk Woman's club meeting will be held at the Community house tonight, June 3 at 8:30 p.m. Let's make this a real good turnout for our last meeting of the year. Tickets will be passed out for the smorgasbord. If anyone would like to donate food or money for this dinner please give Jan Kozy a call. All contributions will be gratefully received. Her phone is 385- 2682. Members of the Woman's club will be receiving calls next week for their donations. Girl Srout» On May 24 the Girl. Scouts learned about first aid. Thursday, June 10, Graduation party. Please, any group which is discontinuing for the summer, give Jo Rizzo a call and cancel your reservation so other people can use the community house. Jo's phona&number is 385-2728. Brownies The Brownie meeting was held out doors last week. The girls had their regular ceremonies and learned a new song. Cathy Humann was there and taught the girls a new game. They discussed their last meeting which is to be a cook-out on June 8. The girls are to meet at Mrs. Quast's and they will then walk over to the East Beach for their hot dogs. They will be through at 6 p.m. Blue Bundles Penny and Donald Veenhuis are the proud parents of their second boy, Randy, born on May 26 at Sherman hospital. He weighed in at 6 lbs., 10 Vi ozs. Randy's brother, Danny, Js eagerly waiting at home. Men's Softball Tournament A meeting was held on May 26 at the community house to organize a baseball tournament for men of Lakeland Park. It was decided after much discussion that a practice session will be held on Monday night, June 7, at 6:45 p.m. at baseball diamond near the community house. If any of you men who plan to attend the practice session have a softball or bat, kindly bring it with you. The first baseball game will be played on Sunday afternoon, June, 13, at 5 p.m. Dick Walinski has mentioned he expects enough men to complete two full teams for the first game on June 13. Should you have any further questions please call Dick at 385-6526 after 6:30 p.m. weekdays. Birthday Wishes Happy birthday wishes go to Judy Johnson who is 6 years old today, June 3. To Mary Ann Krupinski who will be 17 on the 6th and to little Agnes Holas who celebrates her first birthday on the 7th. To Darlene Pike who is 17, and to Shirley George and Jim Roach who also share the 9th as their Troop 459 Our Boy Scout troop will not have meetings during the summer months, they will be resumed in September. Scouts will be notified by the leaders as to the date of campouts for the summer months. Fisher Baby Christened Little Susan Lynn Fisher was welcomed into the Zion Lutheran church on Sunday, May 30 at 10:30 services. Susan's sponsors were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sadowski of the Park. A terrific dinner and day was held in Susan's honor with all her relatives in attendance. Strolling Through The Park Many of our residents took advantages of the first weekend holiday of the year and went on camping trips, among those enjoying mother nature were the Funk, Gladman, Laursen and Duffy families. Frankie Vanek also went witb them to Wisconsin to have a wonderful time. Lloyd, David and Tommy Wagner spent their weekend on a fishing trip to Exeland, Wis. Hope they caught enough fish for Gerry to have a huge fish fry. Rose and Ed Oswald had several anniversary dinners for their forty-sixth year of wedded bliss last week. On Sunday they were the guests of their daughter's family in Evanston. They also shared in the celebration of their second oldest granddaughter's receiving her Catholic Girl Scout religious award. Tuesday they had dinner with their friends, Barb and Joe Herman, of Lake Marie. Nedra, Les and Billy Eekhart took Nedra's mom, Mrs. Chamblin, back to the city on Sunday following hor week's stay with them. Eckharts then attehded a graduation party at a well known dining spot for the graduation of a son of one of their friend's from college. Joan Plucinski had her cousin, Ted, from Poland as her house guest for the past two weeks. He returned to the city along with the Plucinskis on Friday. Joan and her three youngsters spent the weekend at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Grimm. Johnny Hendle was host for several of his neighborhood pals on Thursday of last week. Birthday cake and ice cream followed many games. Helping Johnny celebrate besides his brother, Marty, were Kurt Lorel, Brian and Mickey DiBlasi, Danny Koch, Mike Johnson, Larry Cooper and Bobby. Saturday it was a gathering of the family clan from the city honoring his birthday. Johnny's most prized gift was his two wheel bike from his grandparents. Our subdivision will be well represented in the coming Fiesta Day Queen contest this year. We know that Elaine Piasecki, Florence Jumper, Mary Ann Krupinski and Marge Parisi have all entered. Our very best wishes go to them all. Grace Mandziara had a house full of guests on Sunday of last week. Heard everyone enjoyed the afternoon. n r Ou> congratulations go to Ed Gladman and Lee Glorch who both came out as winners in the recent lucky number promotion held in McHenry stores recently. The Kozy family spent a busy holiday weekend. On Friday their guests for the evening were Joyce and Bob Pierce of Palatine. Saturday had the Kozys helping friends, Mr. and Mrs. Ron Tern berg, pouring cement and enjoying the day after the work was done. On Sunday, Carol and Richard Hill were the Kozys' guests for a picnic. The Hills also call Palatine home. Earlier in the week Jan's mom, Mrs. Helen Nelson, had visited with them for three days, she calls Chicago home. We all at some time in our lives have read or" heard the story about "Jdhnny Appleseed" but we have a Marty Appleseed in our subdivision. Our Marty was just one step different because he sold imaginary tree seeds to his neighbor. The neighbor enjoyed the little lad so much that he planted the imaginary seeds. Marty Hendle, you're a born salesman. Belated birthday wishes go to Len Bottari who celebrated last week. Paul and Pat Richardson will celebrate their eighth wedding anniversary on the 6th of June. Pat's brothers and sister were out from Chicago several weeks ago and had quite a blast. Kathy Harper celebrated her eighth birthday on the 25th of May. Enjoying cake, ice cream and kool-aide and the many games they played were Shirley Meurer, Christa, Linda Apel, David and Susan Wickenkamp, Judy Revak, Susie and Sherry and Lee Pankowicz, Cathy and Wendy Mueller, her Bister, Frances Harper, and Stevie. Judy Revak celebrated her eighth birthday on the 26th of May. Veronica Bierman, Shirley Meurer, Linda Apel, Susie and Sherry Pankowicz, Kathy and Frances and Angie Harper, and Cathy and Wendy Mueller all joined in the festivities. Petey and Jack Oakford had friends, Jean and Bob Colfer, and daughters, Susan, Ellen, Mary and Ann, from Mt. Prospect out for dinner last Sunday. They enjoyed going oyer to the community house to watch the Cub Scouts fly their kites" and take part in the pack meeting. \ On May . 31 Arthur and Marge Webber celebrated their seventh wedding anniversary by going to a show aind dinner on Saturday, in St, Charles. Their dog Bingo celebrated his second birthday last week also. Leah and Wally Nuss attended a play in Chicago yesterday with the compliments of Wally's place of work. He won the safety award at work and they had a choice of a sport event or a play. Hope you enjoyed yourselves. Dottie and Chuck Stockdale and children spent Memorial weekend in Cleveland, Ohio, to visit his sister and husband and new baby. Reminders Open Little League meetings for the summer months will be held on the last Wednesday^of each month as always, the only thing different will be the opening time will be at 8 instead of 7:30 as during winter months. This month's Lakeland Park 4-H meeting will be at 10:30 on June 5. Appreciation There just are not adequate words to express my feelings to my fellow correspondent, Barb, for taking over our column completely during my recent confinement. Barb did a wonderful Job and I'd like her to know how much I enjoyed reading our column. RINGWOOD NEWS DELOBES BRENNAN 658-9045 WILLIAM BOEDER NEW PRINCIPAL OF GRADE SCHOOL The Ringwood School District No. 34 has hired William Roeder of Antioch to replace Arthur Smejkal, who resigned after 3 years of teaching and principal duties here. Mr. Roeder comes to Ringwood from Spring Grove school. He has a B. A. Degree, and is working on his Masters. We welcome Mr. Roeder to our school and will see him in the fall. School Board Notes The Ringwood School District No. 34 has joined the S.E.D.O.M. (The Special Edudation District of McHenry County) with the purpose of S.E.D.O.M.: to provide special educational facilities for the exceptional children. Paul Walkington and Will Roeder will be on the board of directors for S.E.D.O.M. Windy In Ringwood Mrs. Gerry Kunz called on Tuesday to say that Mr. Wind did his share of damage to her yard. It took the glass insert right out of her front door, blew her Madonna statue and other yard decorations. It took the insert from the door and dropped it at the road all smashed. Birthdays Coming Up Birthday wishes to Hazel Bowman, whose natal day falls on June 6. To June Oxtoby on the 9th, it's birthday wishes to Ida M&e Walkington. Mrs. Charlotte Thompson of Greenwood celebrates her natal day on the 10th, while Harold Lee Jepson celebrates his birthday on the 11th. Volunteers Mowed Park Verbal orchids to the township road crew for mowing the Ringwood park, and to Paul Walkington, who also has helped with the mowing of our pork, for the Memorial Day holiday. The flag pole is broke, but the park looks 100 percent betteq with the grass and dandelions cut down. Here 'N' There On Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Kunz were dinner guests at Fort Atkinson, Wis. Jay Walkington is home for the summer from his studies at Perkins Seminary at Southern Methodist University in Texias. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Dodd motored to St. Louis to spend the weekend with their son and family, Mr. -and Mrs. Roy E. Dodd. ^ The Leonard Ackerman family spent the holiday weekend visiting relatives in Prentiss, Wis. On Wednesday, Mrs. Earl Kunz entertained Mrs. Puhlman and son, Phillip, Norbert Lisk, Sr., all of Richmond and Mrs. June Oxtoby for lunch. Mrs. L. E. Hawley and her daughter," Mrs. William Reinwall of McHenry, were Chicago visitors on Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Kunz were dinner guests on Tuesday evening in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Kunz and family at Lake in The Hills.
