BETHEL 98 Installation -- Ruth Lightner, Honored Queen! Saturday, June 5, was a night that any girl would remember always, especially if she were to be the new honored queen. It was a perfect beginning for Ruthie's term of six months. The theme was "Universal Love". This was in blue letters in the East with a "world" at one side. Ruthie's "never-to-be-forgotten moment" came when she knelt at the altar for her vows while her officers formed a cross, kneeling in prayer. Then, Donald Stinespring gave the Rose Ceremony, and presented her with the red rose. As Sara Borchardt sang, "Love Makea the World Go Round" Ruth was escorted to the East, where the crown was removed from Lib* by's head and placed on Ruth. Her escorts were Tom Carlson, Vint Alderson, Dan Turner and Sandy Winters. All four of Ruthie's brothers shared her evening: Jim and Tom gave the Ode to the flag, Bob handed her the queen doll, while liittle Donnie presented his sister a bouquet of pink and white carnations. May I also put in a note to watch the little ones when it is mail time. Hank has been very good to us, let's see if we can't be nice to him and keep our children from running to the mail box, while the mail car is putting mail in the box. Another thing to remember in the summer is the empty houses that are marked with no trespassing signs, and little ones who can not read should be cautioned, there may be things around these homes could harm the children. Let's try to keep this a safety conscious summer. SAFETY RECORD For the second year in a row, Illinois' teenage drivers have turned in a better traffic safety record than their counterparts nationwide. Illinois teenagers in 1964 were involved in 10.76 per cent of the accidents reported, in this state, but nationally, teenagers accounted for 14.9 per cent of the accidents, Mr. Powell said.
