BRIDAL COUPLE JUDITH MAKOWSKl MakowskMVetzel Engagement Announced Mr. and Mrs. Henry Makowski of 2241 N. Oakley, Chicago, announce the engagement of their daughter, Judith Susan, •to Terry L. Wetzel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred W. Wetzel of 615 S. McHenry Ave., McHenry Shores. Judith is a 1963 graduate of Madonna high school, Chicago, and is presently employed by a Chicago insurance company. Terry is a 1962 graduate of McHenry Community high, attended Elgin Community college and has been employed as an associate customer engineer. At present, he is serving in the United States Armed Forces. Family Gathering: For Chester Supeks Last week, a family gathering also was the occasion for a surprise thirty-second wedding anniversary party for Mr. and Mrs. Chester Supek of 712 N. Center street. About twenty-five guests arrived to honor the couple, among them the Supeks' daughters and their families, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hebert and ohildren of Chicago and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Mercure of McHenry. Other guests present were Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Davis and daughter of Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Fukar and daughters of Sauk Village. Mr. and Mrs. Zach and' sons of Chicago and Mr. and Mrs. John Ivanski and friend of McHeniy. Hospital Sewing Guild Meets The regular monthly business meeting of the Sewing Guild to the McHenry hospital auxiliary was held June "!0 at the home of Tillie Ahrens with thirteen members present. A report was given on the successful card party held June 8 at the K of C hall. A good crowd attended and the proceeds of $100 were given to the hospital building fund. A discussion was held about thd articles to be made and sold in the Pink Lady shoppe. There will be no meetings of the guild during July and August. Double Celebration At Kempfer Residence A double celebration was held at the Frank 'Kempfer home on Washington Street Sunday, honoring Mr. and Mrs. Kempfer on their twenty-second anniversary and their son, Michael, who graduated from McHenry Junior high school last week. A delicious 5 o'clock dinner was followed by cards and visiting and the honorees presented with many gifts. A pleasant surprise of the evening was a call from the Kempfers' son, Albert, who is serving with the Navy at Norfolk, Va. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Simon and daughter, Barbara, and Joseph Jeovanazzi of Chicago; Mrs. Marie Vales and son, Albert, Frank Kempfer, Sr., Mr. and Mrs. James Glosson, Mrs. Bruno Rodell, the Bud Roewer family, Debbie and Joseph Kempfer, Jay Doherty, Eddie Boyle, Richard Klapperich, Randy Meyer, Gary Fairchild, Jim Larkin and Adam Johnson. TVTDR A GREGORY MIELING MARRIED JUNE 12 Miss Sandra Lynn Larson, daughter of the Cordon Larsons of 6710 McCullom Lake Road, and Gregoiy Mieling, Jr. son of Mr. and Mrs. Gregory Mieling, Sr.. of 3S11 K. Lake Shore Drive, Wonder Lake, were married Saturday. Jtine 12, in the Wonder Lake Bible Church at 1:30 p.m. Rev Richard Wright officiated at the ceremony. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore. a floor length gown of organza over taffeta, with fitted bodice and bracelet length sleeves. Lace appliques and seed pearls extended down the bodice through the princess lines of the dress The skirt was a full bouffant type with draped chapel train accentuated with a back bow and decorated with seed pearls Her silk illusion veil was held in place by a double crown of tiny pearls. She carried an old-fashioned colonial bouquet of white roses, carnations and lilies of the valley. Baskets of white gladiolus, stock, and mums adorned the altar of the church. Honor attendant for the bride was Miss Hope Messamore, a friend. Miss Diane Dimon, cousin of the bride served as bridesmaid and Miss Vicki Larson, cousin of the bride, served as junior bridesmaid. All of the girls wore floor length ice blue organza sheaths with organza and chiffon overskirts. Their headpieces were blue crowns with matching blusher veils. They all carried se^ii-cascade bouquets of white carnations with ice blue net and ribbons. Mrs. Larson chose a turquoise lace sheath with matching accessories for her daughter's wedding. L^pr corsage was of white roses. Mrs. Mieling. whose dress was fashioned with a pink lace bodice and pink chiffon skirt, chose white carnations for her corsage. Honor attendants for the groom were his brother, Timothy Mieling; serving as best man, Richard Schroeder of Chicago and Thomas O'Brien of Wonder Lake, Gary Larson (brother of the bride) and La Vern Gustafson (cousin of the bride) serving as groomsmen and ushers respectively. A reception for 150 relatives and friends was held at The Timbers in Woodstock immediately following the ceremony. The bride and groom are both graduates of Harrison school and McHenry high school. Sandra has !>een working in Crystal I.ake as a receptionist and "Skip" is in the Navy Nuclear Submarine Service. They will honeymoon on their trip back to the East Coast, where they plan to make their home in Groton. Conn. Silver Wedding Open Hoiise June 19 Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy "Bud" Miller will observe their silver wedding anniversary on Saturday, June 19, when open house will be held at the Johnsburg Community club hall. Friends are invited to attend at 8 o'clock in the evening. Rita Freund and "Bud" Miller were married June 19, 1940 at St. John the Baptist Church. Attendants were A1 vin Freund, Lorraine Freund Rutzen, Diane Neiss, George Miller and Mrs. Bud .(Frcida) Nystedt. The Millers have three children, Mrs. Gerry i Georgette i Sobiesk, Nancy and John, anc one granddaughter, Debra Ann Sobiesk. Etheridge of Crystal Lake claimed as his bride Miss Marilyn Jean Fuchs of McHenry in a pretty wedding which took place last Saturday, June 12, in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Johnsburg. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred J. Fuchs of 3108 N. River Park Drive, McHeriry, and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Etheridge, Jr., of 106 McHenry Avenue, Crystal Lake. Rev. Fr. A. Weidemann officiated at the 2 o'clock afternoon ceremony, for which the children's choir sang. The altar was decorated with bouquets of peonies. Blonde Miss Fuchs was charming in a white organza gown styled with scoop neckline, elbow length sleeves and cummerbund detailed with schiffli lace. The bell skirt featured a detachable chapel length train also detailed with lace. Her silk illusion veiling fell from a double crown of pearls and aurora boreal is and she carried a bouquet consisting of a white orchid, white roses and stephanotis. Miss Janice Huff of Johnsburg acted as maid of honor and bridesmaids were Mrs. Carl Kephart of Champaign and Miss Doris Ann Wemhoff of Humphrey, Nebr.,- both cousins of the bride. Miss Paula Etheridge. the groom's sister, was junior bridesmaid. The attendants wore matching floor length gowns in turquoise, fashioned simply with scoop necklines and short sleeves. The skirts were classic dome silhouettes which featured two panels in the back, caught up by a large bow. On their heads they wore organza bows detailed with pearls and a rose, with silk illusion veiling in the same color as the dresses. Their bouquets were of pink glamellias. S/Sgt. Stanley Etheridge, stationed at Colorado Springs, Colo., served his brothei^as best man and groomsmen werfe, Wayne Fuchs, brother of tne bride, and Robert Grantyof Crystal Lake, a friend. Ushers were Thomas Fuchs of Johnsburg, brother of the bride, md Jack Etheridge of Addison. 111., uncle of the groom. Mrs. Fuchs chose a pink embroidered silk organza dress, matching accessories and a corsage of pink carnations and roses. Mrs. Etheridge was attired in a pastel sheath gown .vith lace medallion trim. She had white accessories and a corsage of white carnations and yellow roses. A reception for 350 guests was held at 5 o'clock at the Johnsburg Community Club. The Jormer Miss Fuchs is a graduate of McHenry high school and is a billing typist at Keulfel & Esser in Northfield. The groom graduated from Crystal Lake high school .and Elgin Community college. He also attended the University of Illinois. At present, he is material analyst in production control at Oak Manufacturing Co., Crystal Lake. Plan Annual Style Revue A meeting of committee chairmen for the annual style show of St. Mary's Home and School Association was held recently at the home of Mrs. John Herdrich. Plans were discussed for the event, which will take place Aug. 18 at 12:30 at the V.F.W. clubhouse. Mrs. Herdrich and Mrs. Girard Zimmerman will act as co-chairmen of this year's show, Mrs. George Gilpin will again act as narrator and Miss Kathy Steinsdoerfer will be organist. Mrs. Donald Weingart has been selected in charge of table settings; Mrs. Richard Freund, salads; Mrs. Charles Weingart, dessert; and Mrs. Karl Abbink, coffee. Table decorations will be carried but by Mrs. James Althoff. Both had corsages of pink carnations anfcL slephanotis. A garden brunch was served at the home of the bride's' aunt ahd uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Kent Duncan, in Winnetka at 11 o'clock in the morning. Following the late afternoon nuptial rite, 275 guests gathered at the Lake Shore Club for a reception. After a trip to Lakekof the Ozarks, Mo., the newlyweds will make their home at 234 Laflin Avenue, Apt. 3, Waukesha, Wis. . • The bride is a Senior at Carroll college, where she is a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority. Henry Wecherle officiated at the 11 o'clock marriage in a church decorated with pink and white cut flowers on the altar. Mildred Horan was organist and the soloist was Jeanne Hesselbacher. Pretty Miss Davis selected a floor length silk organza gown with bell skirt and Swiss motif in scroll and pearl embroidery on both the bodice and skirt. It was styled with bateau neckline, long, tapered sleeves and a detachable cathedral train fastened at the waist by two cabbage roses. Her headpiece wasi an organza pillbox accented by organza and pearl motifs with fingertip veil. She carried two small orchids with lily of the valley. Mrs. Ruth Ann Hogan of Elgin, sister of the groom, actcd as matron of honor and bridesmaids were Miss Linda Davis of Scales Mound, the bride's sister, Mrs. Dorothy Hammer of Scales Mound, Miss Celeste McClain of Westchester and Miss Linda Ness of Lake Zurich. They were attired similarly in full length white nylon organza over white taffeta, featuring pink embroidered nylon organza bodices with pink ribbon bands at the waist forming bows and two streamers in the back. They chose pink picture h>ts and carried bouquets of cascading pink daisies. Little Julie Davis acted as flower girl for her aunt, .wearing a dress of white silk organza over pink taffeta, with pink embroidered bodice and white ribbon band with bow streamers at the back. Charles Davis of Scales Mound, brother of the bride, served as best man and groomsmen were Jerry Hogan, brother-in-law of the groom, Homer Basset t of Johnsburg, Don Parisi of Carpentersville and Richard Keller of McHenry. The ring bearer was John White of Steward, 111. A reception followed the wedding for 350 guests at the Flamingo tea room. The newlyweds will make their home at 823 Greenbriar Road, DeKalb. Miss Davis received her BA degree in psychology from Northern Illinois university, where she was a member of Alpha Sigma social sorority.
