We hope that the chi.dren will take care of the equipment so it will last a long time. If you see anyone abusing things, notify the deputy sheriff. They also put the "pier in at the launching spot half way between the two beaches on Shore Drive so there is no need for any boats to be at either beaches any more. Little League All Stars On Thursday, last week our A1 Stars travelled to Round La Ice where they were again beiten by Round Lake 7 to 4. On Saturday, they played McCullom Lake losing 4 to 3. On Sunday the All Stars beat th'?ir managers and coaches in a last inning grand slam homerun by Lee Mai winning 6 o 5. On Saturday, Aug. 21, the All stars go to McCullom Lake to play a return match at 1. Or Sunday the Wonder Lake Al star team will play a return match here. Oon't forget to mark your caendar for the 11th of September when the Little League will hold their annual dance at the VFW. Birthday Greetings Happy birthday wishes go to Joinny Arient who becones a teenager on the 20th of August. On the 21st, Edward Nico. ai becomes 3, Stevie Miller becomes 4 and Billy Burman will turn 8. On the 23rd of August Robbie Miller becomes 6 and on the 24th David Wohnrade turns 8, Holly Arient and Meg Humann become 6, Mich lei Di Blasi turns 2 and Joseph Brooks celebrates his ,761 h. On the 25th, Gloria Vanek shares her day with John Henneberg who turns 16. Strolling Through The Park We have two proud grandmothers in our subdivision when they both received new granddaughters. Lyda Radisch's new granddaughter arrived on Wednesday, Aug. 11. Diane Elizabeth was born to Jackie and Carl Riley, their 4th girl and 5th child. Anne Herzog is the other proud grandma as her granddaughter in Lombard had her second girl. They named her Teri Gayle Kesig. Ann was nearby for the event as she was staying with her sixteen year old granddaughter in Lombard while her daughter. Kay Steen, and husband attended a family reunion out West. If this sounds confusing it probably is because it involves 4 generations of girls, and I'm confused. Ruth McMahon is home from the hospital and feeling much better although rather weak Lyda Radisch's son, Bill, and family , from El Paso, Texas, have been visiting for a week. Grandma Rizzo and her daughter, Norman Anderson and two children, Melinda and Norman, Jr., are visiting the Riz/.os. The Andersons are from Virginia. We just heard that the bavins' two nephews were drowned in Lake Michigan on Sunday but don't know any more details. Our deepest sympathy goes to'the family in this tragedy. • The Paul Richardsons had their nieces, Debbie and Donna Karavites, staying for a week the first of . this month and then last week Pat's sister, B e r n a d i n e P e r h a m , s t a y e d with them with her poodle Henri. Last Wednesday, they had a birthday party for Jackie who was 4 years old on the 11th with Karen and Susan, Kim and Lynn Burns and Lee and Susie Hulbert all joining in the celebration. Paul and Pat spent their vacation with a trip south to C'arterville, 111., where they were looking for a location to move. Then they went on to Nashville, Tonn. where they took in the Grand Old Opera and on to Chatanooga to see Look Out Mountain. Our deepest sympathy goes to the family of Anna Mellas who passed away last Friday. She had been in the hospital since Tuesday when she collapsed in her yard from a stroke. She resided at 1720 Pleasant Ave. Mrs. Moll held i surpprise birthday party for Tammy Krug on Aug. 13 to celebrate her 5th birthday. Cake, ice cream, and pop was served to Patsy Schabow, Bev and Bob Hromec, and Craig and Scott Glander from Elk Grove, Tammy's sister, Carye and Alan and Dale Moll. Mrs. Moll's nephews, Craig and Scott Glander, have been visiting with them for a week. Kay Brooks is staying at her daughter's and visiting her sister in Chicago, while her husband, Joe, is fishing up in Wisconsin this week. A surprise birthday party is being planned for Joe's 76th birthday this weekend. Bill Struwe, son of Hazel and Wm. Struwe is waiting to be shipped over to Viet Nam as is Jim Woods, son of Ev and Wally Woods. Bill and Pat Shaft, former Lakeland Park residents, have adopted a baby girl. We know you will enjoy your baby very much. Delores Rogers had a busy day last Thursday when she invited a group of ladies into her home for demonstration and then had a birthday party in the afternoon for her son. Chris, who was 7. The ladies were Gladys Mayer, Maureen Johnson, Shirley Koch, Doris Johnson, Sally Burman and Joan Burman, Ann Wohnrade, Helen Brooks, Ann Dawson, Joan Apel, and Bev Wickenkamp. The boys who helped Chris celebrate his birthday were, Dave Wickenkamp. Mike Johnson, Tom Mueller, Herbie Detner, Jackie Bucarro, Jeff Connors. Billy Burman, and Dave Wohnrade. Monday, August 16. Jim and Bev Wickenkamp, Lee and Jo Mai, and Les and Nedra Eckardt had a picnic supper for the Pirate's major league ball team. The Bierman family are back from a week's vacation in the Haywood, Wis. area. Terri Mai was guest of honor at a birthday party last Saturday, to celebrate her 3rd birthday. The Kinsey children from McCullom Lake and Steve, Susie and Dave Wickenkamp all enjoyed the cake and ice cream which was served. Kay, Eddie, Dennis and Kevin Druml were ..very pleased with a visit from their number one son, and brother Buddy, for the past ten days. Eddie, Jr., is an Airman Second Class and is stationed in New Mexico. Most of Bud's leave was spent in camping at Devil'S Lake. They also took in the Stand Rock Indian Ceremonial which they enjoyed to the 'nth degree. Those roaming campers, the Kamp family, spent last weekend at Big Foot, Wis., swimming and riding around Lake Geneva in a cabin cruiser. Rose and Ed Oswald spent Thursday in Evanston helping their granddaughter, Judy Geishecker, celebrate her birthday. They' also brought back an old friend Ann Schovain who was their house guest until Monday. Saturday they were joined by Barb and Joe Herman for dinner and card, games until the wee hours of Sunday. Grandma and grandpa Becker spent Sunday with Dot tie, Irv, Kathie, Mary and Margie. Kenny is vacationing in Minnesota. They also helped Margie celebrate her 3rd birthday. Also, helping in the evening were the Daurio family. Visiting the Meurer family for a few days was Laura Peters from May wood. Mrs. Orlowski had been suffering from a heart condition for several years, but one would never have known it. Lill always had a smile ready and you never heard her complain. Our deepest sympathy to Leo and the family and may they find comfort in knowing that Lil has completed her mission on earth and has found everlasting peace. News Around The Highlands Paul and Laura Farwell recently spent a week with their grandmother in Cicero. Melanee Pederson received a one year scholarship to a dance studio in Mundelein. Leslie Cady and son, Steven, of Minneapolis recently spent a week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Pederson. Get well wishes to Mrs. Silka who was confined at Wesley Memorial hospital for a few days. Get-Well wishes also to Pearl Pederson's mother who suffered a heart attack and was confined at the Belmont hospital, Chicago. Congratulations to Audry Morin's sister and brother-inlaw, Jackie and Larry Protrowski, who became proud parents of a baby boy on July 24. The baby was named Loren Jon and weighed 6 lbs. 15- ozs. The Protrowskis also have a daughter, Lyla, who is 20 months old. Jackie and Larry paid a short visit to the Morins on Sunday, August 8, especially to show auntie and uncle the new offspring. Pat and Ron Jackson spent Sunday, August 8, in Wauconda celebrating the birthdays of Ron's mother and Pat's . Belated birthday wishes to three of the Morins. Don who celebrated his birthday on August 1, Tommy who reached 9 years old on August 8 and to Larry who became five on August 16. Speaking of the Morins they just returned from a 3 week vacation. The first week was spent in the Blueberry Country, of Grandjunction, Mich, at the farm .owned by Audry's brother, Russell Anderson. The second week was spent camping in Northern Michigan with Don's parents. While there they had the experience of seeing the capture of a wild bear and while the bear was . under the influence of tranquilizers transported, by car, 30 miles further north.
