Places Second Lovely little 12-year-old Cathy Klapperich, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter John Klapperich, arrived home with her parents amid fanfare Sunday afternoon after placing second in the organ contest held during the Illinois State Fair in Springfield. A huge banner proclaiming "Congratulations, Miss McCullom Lake Organ Champion" was strung across the living room. The handiwork was done by Aunt Kay Godina and Cathy's younger sister. Diane. The three left for the' fair Friday evening and returned home Sunday afternoon, emotionally spent. About 600 entries in various age groups and length of taking lessons, were judged. Cathy played against eleven other entries in her group. She has been taking lessons from Mrs. Anne Marie Scarbrough for about lVz years. Isn't that tremendous? The contestants were judged on a multitude of points. For her victory, Cathy played "Bye, Bye, Blues" on a spinet organ. She was allowed only three minutes on stage. For her efforts, she was presented with a red ribbon for recognition. The winner received a blue ribbon and a small trophy. We rejoice with the Klapperichs and know how PROUD they are of their talented and lovely daughter. Official recognition of the young lad will be made Sunday when he is presented for christening. Our very warmest congratulations to the Wilsons. Village Board Routine committee reports were made by the trustees at the last meeting of the village board held Monday, Aug. 16, in the beachhouse. According to commissioner Harry Lock, road repairs will be completed before summer's end. The board voted to hold no meeting Sept. 6 because of it being Labor Day. The next meeting will be held Monday, Sept. 20, at 8 p.m. in the beachhouse. Cullom-Knoll The Cullom-Knoll ass'n^will meet Sunday, Sept. 12, since the regular meeting would fall on the Labor Day weekend. A report of the annual summer festival will be forthcoming and there will also be election of officers. , The "Welcome Mat" Is Spread For Mr. and Mrs. Donald Schiavone ^and their three youngsters - Valerie, who is almost 13, Donna - 11, and Donald, Jr. - 7 V2. Surgical Patient Mrs; Virginia Gibson entered McHenry hospital, Monday Aug. 16, for surgery on her throat. She returned home a few days later and is doing fine. COAST TO COAST Illinois is the only state currently enjoying a two-way, coast-to-coast tourism program with bases in the two largest population centers of the nation.
