This meeting will be a new report on our road progress and should be of interest to all homeowners in the community. Let's show our interest by having a ^ood attendance at this meeting. V Brownies Are Registering Registration foe second graders who would like to become Brownies is now open with about 8 or 9 openings left. Give "Fran Quast a call at 385-4087 as soon as possible. She is planning on having a mothers' meeting on the last Tuesday in September with the time being mentioned in a leter column. The first Brownie meeting will begin the first Tuesday in October. Girl Scout Registration Mrs. Dowel 1 is now taking registrations for girls between the ages of 9 and 11 or in 4th through the 6th grades who are interested in becoming Girl Scouts. You can call her at 385-5876 or Mrs. Humatin at 385-1605. On the 16th of Sept. the Girl Scouts are having a cookout at the Dowell home. I imagine you will receive more information about this from your patrol leaders. Lakeland Park Couples The Lakeland Park Couples bowling league is again planning a very active season, beginning their first night of bowling on Sept. 25. The league has expanded to 12 teams which should make it very interesting. Will let you know meeting this week. Lakeland Park Woman's Club The first meeting of the -season met last Thursday with about twenty-six women enjoying an evening of fun and fellowship and refreshments. It was announced that there would be a welcome party for all newcomers to our subdivision on Oct. 28 and Lyda Radisch would like the names of anyone eligible to attend, so if you have any new neighbors give Lyda a call and let her know their names so they will receive an invitation. It was decided that at our October meeting we would be looking around for something you want to bring and also start saving your pennies so you can bid on the different items. The meeting ended and the girls played bunco with very nice prizes Pink Bundle Walter and Ann Kuhns are the proud parents of a baby girl born on Aug. 30. Jill Christine weighed in at 7 lbs., 15 1/2 oz. She has two brothers, Lance, 11, and Scott, who is 5, and two sisters Holly who is 3 and Wendy who is 15 months. Grandma and Grandpa Kuhns are holding down the fort until Ann comes home with the new addition. Get-Well Wishes Get-well wishes go to Clar Haerle who is sporting a sore arm after being bitten by a German ^Shephard. Hope it is feeling better now. Also to Virginia Krispin who was in the hospital last week as was Tommy Lagios. Birthday Wishes I missed quite a few birthdays last week so here are belated birthday wishes to Tammy Strange who was 6 on Aug. 30, to Marion Duffy who shared the 3rd with Monica Sue Foszcz who was 1 year old and to Shawn Strange who was 9 on the 4th, and to Sue Funk on the 6th. Also to Debbie George who will start school on her birthday this year turning 9 on the 7th. Birthday wishes go to Marv George who shares the 10th with Russell Rode who will be 14, and to Donald Kaminski who celebrates his 11th year on the 11th. The following all share the 12th as their special day with David and Dennis Johnson turning 14, Ronald Nicolai 17, Karen Slonina 10, Barbara Humann 3 and Shirley Koch just adding another year. On the 13th Mark Slonina will be 3 and Allen Plucinski will be 10, and on the 14th Karen Johnson and Jack Hertzog celebrates, Cathy Lynn Knor turns 3 and Darlene Gladman will be 10. On the 15th Junior Przetacznik becomes 8 and Mrs. John Thilges adds another year, and on the 16th Frank Bartos will celebrate. Our very best wishes go to all these people and any of those I missed. Anniversary Wishes Belated anniversary wishes go to Leslie and Kay Luing who celebrated their fortysixth on the 3rd and to Anna and Cypryan Kosieracki who celebrated their forty-seventh on Sept. 7 and to Tony and Florence Piasecki who celebrate their 28th anniversary today, Sept. 9. Anniversary wishes also go to Sam and Connie Parisi who are on their 31st time around on the 10th. On the 14th of September Helen and Gene Kraskiewicz will celebrate 20 years of togetherness. May you all have many more years of togetherness. Strolling Through The Park Leslie Luing celebrated his birthday on Saturday, Aug. 21, by having their son, Robert, from Schiller Park, and his wife, Theresa, and daughter, Shirley Ann, and son, Bob, who was home on leave from Ft. Knox, Ky., and their youngest son, Armond, from Carpentersvill, with his wife Elaine, and her mother, Nellie Arndt, out for dinner with birthday cake being served in the evening. They enjoyed listening to their Grandson Robert tell of his experiences at Ft. Knox. On Sunday, they again celebrated with a surprise from his friends and neighbors who came over at 4 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Emery Mihalek, Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Walsh, and Mr. and Mrs. Lou Domrese, and Kay Galemba as well as their son, Armond, and his wife, Elaine, who came back from Carpentersville all joined in the celebration. On Monday, Aug. 30, Mr. and Mrs. Luing entertained guests from Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Ryan, and Mr. and Mrs. George Weber of Lakeland Park for the afternoon of cards and a hot meal in the evening. Patty Hansen and Helen Oleszczuk, Kris Weisenberger of Wonder Lake Wendy Sayler of Edgebrook Heights and Sue Meineke enjoyed luncheon and theater in St. Charles on Wednesday Sept 1. Their table was close to the stage so they had a good view of Tab Hunter leading man and later met Mary Frann the leading lady of the play. On Sept. 7, Judy Meinke left for school at Wisconsin State University at Whitewater,. Wis., where she will be a, junior. On Sept. 2, Jo Rizzo took her daughter, Paulett, to St. Xavier in Chicago where she will be a freshman this year. The Gladman and Laursen families along with Doug Funk and Christie Flannigan left on Thursday to make the long weekend holiday even longer for their camping trip to Wisconsin. They plan on returning late Monday evening. Hope the weather man is good to them. Also among the long weekend campers are Bette and Bill Kamp and their three youngsters. Bette and Bill returned from St. Louis on Friday in time to hook up their camper and leave for an unknown destination as I write this. Rose and Ed Oswarld returned last Sunday from an eight day vacation to Decatur and Greenville, where, they visited with numerous relatives and friends. They also took in the Greenville fair that was held1 honoring their centenial. Kathie and Mary Becker returned on Sunday from a very happy week in the "Windy City" where they visited with Grandma and Grandpa Becker. Tammy Strange celebrated her birthday with a party in her honor, with Ann Sullivan, Julie Boeldt, Kathy Davis, Angie Burman, Sue Hulbert all joining in the celebration. Her brother, Shawn, celebrated his birthday with Lee Hulbert sharing an evening at the show and then sleeping over night. Doris Schabow, Dorothy Dowell and Carole Humann attended a cook-out at Oakhurst Beach with other leaders and helpers from Girl Scout Day Camp: We understand that in Pam Schwegel's accident last week that little Paul's Boy Scout training really saved the day. Seems the bleeding was very profuse, but Paul applied pressure to the proper points and held them until they arrived at Woodstock hospital. Pauley said Mr. Druml had taught him what to do in first siid, otherwise he wouldn't have known. It must make Ed very proud to think that all the time he gave to the Boy Scouts was not in vain. Still, Woodstock, general county chairman of the savings bonds committee. Sales in the state of Illinois were $388,000,000. Sales in Ill- Arnold J. Rauen of McHenry state director of the Treasury's savings bond division. This is 7 percent below sales for last July and accounts for 7.7 percent of national sales which were 0388,000,000. Surgery Patient Six year old Michael Clark complained of a stomach ache last week and it landed him in the hospital. On Saturday eyening young Mike underwent an emergency appendectomy at the McHenry hospital. He is up and around now, and will be able to start school on time. ' Eastward Move The Girard Brennan family moved "lock, stock and barrel" recently from our vicinity. They are now residing in New Jersey where Girard is working. We wish them every happiness in their new surroundings and hope to see them if they make a return visit in the future. They will take up residence in McHenry upon returning from their honeymoon. Best wishes to them for a happy life together as man and wife. Traveling Five Ed and Dorothy Hettermann, and young Ed along with Leo and Mabel Smith traveled about a 1,000 miles within a four day period. They made a car trip which took them up to Mackinac Island. The weather was a little cool but it didn't stop them from having a good time. Minnesota Fishermen And ladies too - I'm referring to the Harry Smith family \yho spent a recent week in the beautiful northwest doing a lot of fishing. Harry had all he could do to keep the hook baited for young Karen as the fish were biting so well. Warren and his mom, LuAnn, also had some pretty good luck with the poles. Georgia Visitors Agnes and Tony Freund, Bob, Joan and Debbie Freund, along with Joe and Martha Freund accompanied by Rev. Raymond Hettermann motored to Atlanta, Ga., to attend the wedding of Donna Kay Hettermann to E. B. Chester, Jr. Donna Kay is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Hettermann. Father Hettermann officiated at the ceremony. Later a reception was held in the Atlanta Women's Club. JoAnn Freund accompanied the family home after spending a week in Atlanta. The trip was enjoyed by all but all are in agreement that there is no place like "good old Illinois". Another Beautiful Ceremony Karen Antonson became Mrs. Thomas Kilroy in a wedr ding ceremony which took place in St. John's church 6n the 28th of August. She is the daughter of the Elmer Antonsons of Villa Lane. The newlyweds greeted relatives and friends at a reception held later in the day in Grayslake. Chicago will be the future home for the new Mr. and Mrs. Antonson where he is a dental school student. We all join in hoping their "dreams for the forthcoming years come true. Engagement Announced The announcement of the engagement of.Marilynn Hoist to Harold May was made recently by her parents, the Robert Hoists of DesMoines, Iowa. Harold slipped a beautiful diamond on the finger of Marilynn's left hand on one of her recent visits here. She will be teaching in Joliet this semester while he returns to his studies as a senior at Culver- Stockton in Canton, Mo. J"une of next year is when the wedding will take place. We know how happy they must be and hope they remain that way for the rest of theirs lives. ' t Coming Up D o r o t h y H i m j t e h r i a n n r e ports although she does nbt have the full particulars as to who will give the first lecture it will be held on Sept. 22 8 p.m. in the V.F.W. hall in McHenry. The topic for the first lecture will be Civil Rights. This is an important issue and could affect the lives of each and everyone of us. All are urged to attend this lecture and the series of those in the future which will Continue each Wednesday evening through Oct 13. Take good care of yourselves and I hope you all had a happy and safe holiday. Just a little word of caution to all drivers -- school has started once again. Please exert extreme caution at all times. The. children have had more or less "free-wheeling" and maybe just a little lax in their safety rules the first few weeks of school, so you watch for them until they get back on the beam. Snow, 40 to 50 feet deep on a National Highway?? That is an every-year occurence on U.S. 40 in parts of Colorado. The past seems to serve better as a guidepost, than as a hitchingpost.
