SEPT* 26 The general meeting was postponed until Sunday, Sept. 26, at 2 p.m. Please, all come out to decide on the future of your subdivision. Little League Banquet Coming Up Reservations for all boys and fathers who are going to the Little League banquet must be in to your manager's by Sept. 25th so they know how many people to plan on. The banquet will be held on Oct. 9 at the Ringwood Methodist church with Cliff Fulton, former high school coach being the speaker. this Saturday at 10 a.m. Boys are to come with whatever equipment they have with a mouthpiece a must. The games they play will depend on how many boys come out. Little League Meeting Sept. 22 is the date for the regular little league meeting at the community house at 7:30 p.m. Hope all of you fathers will try to come out for this important meeting, the election of officers. Community House Schedule For all reservations and cancellations call Jo Rizzo at 385-2728. Thursday, Sept. 16 at 8 p.m. Regular board meeting. Monday, Sept. 20, 3:30 to 5:30 -- Girl Scout registration. 7:30 p.m. -- Cub pack meeting. Wednesday, Sept. 22, 7:30 -- Little League open meeting. Welcome Newcomers We want to extend a welcome to Mr. and Mrs. Carl Kohrt who are living at 1511 N. Flower in Lakeland Shores. Carl Kohrt teaches instrumental music in our schools and Catherine Kohrt is fourth grade teacher at Edgebrook. We hope they will become active members of our community. Anniversary Wishes Belated anniversary wishes go to Ann and Rich Wohnrade who celebrated their 13th year together on the 7th of September. Anniversary wishes also go to Jeanette and Jack Hertzdg who celebrate their 7th on the 20th and to Bev and Jim Wickenkamp who have reached their 13th year of togetherness on the 20th. On Sept. 22 wishes go to Lee and Jo Mai who will celebrate their ninth anniversary. May all of you have many more years of happiness. Birthday Wishes Happy birthday wishes go to Frank Bartos who celebrates today, Thursday Sept. 16 and to Charles Fernstrom who reaches his teens on the 17th. On the 19th Bob Townsend celebrates his 17th birthday, and on the 20th Tee Bujak adds another, On the 21st Ray Bottari will be 16, Sherry Jones will be 15 and Steve Benes will be 13. Sept. 22 has Randy Funk turning 4. Football Season Starts Bob Matthews and Joe Prazak are again having football practice at the community house on Saturdays starting Girl Scout Registration Girl Scout registration will be held at the community house on Monday, Sept. 20 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. This will also be the first meeting of the season. Girls from the ages 9 to 11 and any Brownie flyups from Mrs. Webber's troop eligible. Cub Pack Meeting On Monday, Sept. 20, the Cub scouts will hold their first Pack meeting for the fall season at the community house at 7:30 p.m. If there are any new boys between the ages of* 8 and 10 who would like to become Cub Scouts, come out to the pack meeting Monday, or contact Mr. Matthews at 385- 6042 or any of the den mothers. The den mothers are Shirley Koch, Marion Hulbert, Delores Rogers and Ann Wohnrade. 4-H Club Saturday, Sept. 4, the 4-H club held its first meeting of the new year at the community house at 9:30 a.m. All children living in McHenry area between the ages 10 to 20 are eligible to join. A meeting is held the first Saturday of every month at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 4 we elected the following officers: President -- Cindy Schultz; Vicepresident -- Mary Therese Sweeney; Secretary -- Linda Schultz; Treasurer -- Larry Fergen; Reporter -- Karen Fergen; Recreation chairman -- Janice Harris: Scrapbook chairman -- Alicia Sweeney; Federation Delegate -- Kevin Schultz. We have many subjects from which to choose from. If there is anyone who would like to join phone 385-6208. Sept. 25th to the 2nd of October is 4-H week. There will be a window display in Ace Hardware. We hope you can join us to "Make the Best Better". taking care of their grandson, Brian, until his mother, Mary Lanz, gets out of the hospital. She was taken to the hospital because of fainting spells she had been having. Kay Bockman, daughter of William .Bockman, Sr., spent the last two weeks of August visiting our subdivision. She travelled back and forth between her sister's, Ann Wohnrade, and the Bockman, Jr., family. Get-well wishes go to Rich Janezak who was seen sporting a sling on his arm. Seems he was climbing up on his roof and fell off and broke his arm. Hope it heals real fast. Charlene Wimmer is home recuperating after spending a week in the hospital. It was nice to see John and Vivian Steele at the Little League dance last Saturday. A baby shower was held at the Richard Peters home on Prairie avenue last Sunday for their daughter-in-law, Judy Peters, who lives in Wonder Lake. About thirty friends and relatives arrived to shower Judy with loads of beautiful presents. Among her gifts was a playpen, a high chair, a folding dressing table and some beautiful clothes. Paul arid Jo Rizzo visited their daughter, Paulette, at St. Xavier college. We hear she really loves it there. Billy Eckardt celebrated his birthday, Saturday, Sept. 4, with Norbie Kwiatek, Robbie Wickenkamp, and Steve and Alan Plucinski with a cookout and then taking in a show. On Sunday his birthday his mother served Turkey dinner to his grandparents and aunts and uncles. Monday saw the end of the celebrating with neighbors in for coffee and cake. Get-well wishes go to Renee Plucinski who hasn't been feeling up to par. Tom and Edna Hountras were host and hostess to the gang on labor day. Lots of fun and good food was had by Ivy and Stan Lezak, Tony and Florence Piaseckir Gladys and Art Hafer, Lou and Jim Mc- Enery, Helen and Gene Kraskiewicz, Delia Julian, and Ann Herzog and her friend Jean ette Taylor. The day was to be one of outside activity but because of the cold weather they ended up playing cards Mrs. G. A. Douglas left Wednesday, Sept. 15, for a visit with her son, Major Patrick A. Colliton, and family at Fort Lewis, Wash., and also to get acquainted with a new grandson, Stephen Schill, who was" born August 6. Major Colliton is chief of staff of the Ophthalmology department at Madigan General hospital at Fort Lewis, where he has been stationed for the past year. Belated birthday wishes go to Mary Johnson who was 11 on the 9th of September and to Johnny Johnson who was 5 on the 13th. Sorry we missed your days. Jack and Petie Oakford and children jourheyed to Chicago to help celebrate the birthday of her sister, Marilyn McCullough. Making it a real family affair were her daughter, Patty; brother, Duke Grondy, and wife, Connie, and son, Mark, who is Jack's Godchild; also Eileen Paulson and husband Pete and Danny and Cindy; and Aunt and Uncle George Buckley. The Creutz family, the Wohlert family and Humann family all attended a picnic put on by the sponsor of their baseball team which won the playoffs at Ingleside. Their last three games were won in the 5th inning when they totaled up 50 runs all together. Steaks and Italian sausage was furnished by their sponsors with all the families bringing a dish to pass. The day was spent eating, drinking and a rousing game of football was played. Corner Store Mailbox We hope you people have not forgotten about the mailbox at the Corner Store. Pickup there is around 12:15 and as we have said before, service will be discontinued unless it is used. Community Responsibilities As our different organizations begin their fall season it Strolling Through The Park Irene Koehl's aunt, Mrs. Rose Milke, has been visiting them for the last three weeks. Ann Herzog has as her guest for a few days Jeanette Taylor from Chicago. We have Girl Scouts and Brownies for our giris with helpers needed in both, Cub Scouts could use more Den mothers and our Boy Scouts need a leader as well as volunteers. Our Woman's club has many projects through the year which benefit the community but- the same people have to do all of the work. Let's take our responsibilities more seriously and share the load. Her mother, Mrs. Ray Dunham of Woodstock, arrived on Labor Day to take care of little 10 month old Debbie. Ruth is still hospitalized "but is improving, Returns To, Loyola Mrs. Shirley Dawson spent the past two weeks vacationing here and visiting friends. She returned to her duties as house mother in Stebler Hall at Loyol$ University this week. Leaves For Champaign Mrs. Ben Marks left for -m Champaign last week where > she will be a house mother in McKinley Hall at the University of Illinois. College Student Jim May is in Omaha, Neb. He will enter Creighton college as a freshman this year. Club Meets 500 Club met at Minnie Pierce's home on Thursday afternoon. Winners were Frankie Shotliff, Nora Miller, Minnie Pierce, Annie Sanders and Josephine May. More people are interested in getting in their bite, than in giving their bit.
