CHICAGO MAN DIES IN CRASH OF TWO AUTOS (Continued from Page 1) Riverside drive suffered injuries requiring several stitches to be taken around the mouth last Thursday when her car was involved in a two-car accident on Elm street, near Park. Officer John Weichman said Mrs. Johnson was driving east on. Elm when her car was struck head-on by another vehicle driven by David Huber of .Deerfield, who was driving a florist's truck. Huber told city authorities he' blacked out momentarily at the wheel and the car travelled into the wrong lane. He returned to Deerfield for treatment of minor injuries, while Mrs. Johnson was taken to McHenry hospital. Her daughter Diane, riding with her, was unhurt. Damage to each car was estimated at more that $100. A Libertyville man sustained an injured arm last Thursday and was hospitalized in Woodstock as the result of the crash of two cars. Other Accidents Sjchard Berkley, 20, of Harvard, a pedestrian was injured abttllt 7:30 Saturday evening in an accident which involved a gar driven by David L. Couillard of 2502 Thompson road, WQijder Lake. The accident occurred on east Wonder Lake rodd and Lucy road. Berkley was taken to McHenry hospital. Couillard told authorities he was travelling on Wonder Lake road when he came upon Ber- 'kl£y and a companon walking down the center of the road. H<? said Berkley threw himself in^ront of the car, then leaped into a ditch, and never was hi£ by the auto. The pedestrians said they w<?ve walking with the traffic on" the shoulder of the road when Berkley was struck. Gerald W. Felks was a passeijger in a car driven by Edmund J. Orlowski of Libertyvilje when it collided with another vehicle driven by John T. Kip^'ins of 2309 W. Johnsburg ro$d, McHenry, at Rt. 120 and Thompson road. State police said the Kiggins aulo was forced onto the shnulder of the road to avoid a jcar which turned in front of-him. The auto then crossed th? highway and collided headoruwith the Orlowski car. New to the troupe is Ross Triplett, who will play the leading role of Waldo Walton, Ross comes to McHenry with a fine theatrical background. Ann Varese will be Jody Revere, band singer. These roles were played by Jackie Cooper and Janis Paige in the Broadway version. Another newcomer, taking the starring role of Benjamin Goodman, is Art Holt of Crystal Lake. Art appeared as orie of the leads in "Take Me Along" last season in Crystal Lake. Sherwin Sternberg, Waukegan, carries the major comedy role of Officer Miller. Sherwin has had considerable experience as an MC and in many facets of the theatre. Add to these, favorites from our other shows, Larry Ekeroth, Wally Kuhns, Jerry Boehm, Bill Jahn, Danny Turner, Gerry Wagner, Tom Bitterman, John Leighty and George Cina, and a fine show is assured. Page Was recipient of the 1965 Freedoms Foundation Medal for Education by the Freedoms Foundation Valley Forge, Pa. This award was granted for undertaking "a major program to better educate our young people on the nature of Totalitarian Communism and for better understanding the American way Of life". He was given a special citation by the Illinois Senate in recognition of this achievement. ^ Word has been received by the president of the Republican Women's club, Mrs. Tom Davis, that Mrs. Audrey Peak, Republican national committeewoman for Illinois, will attend the dinner. It is expected that she will be asked to speak to the group prior to the main address of the evening. Aim Baby Baptized Sunday at St. Patrick's The infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley L. Aim of Cooney Heights was baptized Steven Edward at St. Patrick's church Sunday, Sept. 12, by Rev. Fr. Leonard Guzzardo. Sponsors for the baby were Charlotte DeChaine of Waukegan, a cousin, and Charles Kleptz of Kokomo, Irid., an uncle. Following the ceremony a dinner was served at the Aim home to the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Bouchard of Crystal Lake; the maternal grandmother, Mrs. Harold Aim of McHenry; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kleptz and three children of Kokomo; and Mr. and Mrs. Roy DeChaine of Waukegan. The baby has two brothers, Michael and Jeffrey, and a sister, Linda Marie. Obituarted JOSEPH F. WEBER - Funeral services were con" ducted Saturday morning at 10 o'clock in St. Patrick's Catholic church for Joseph F. Weber of 1411 N. Riverside drive, * McHenry, who died in Hines Veterans hospital Wednesday, Sept. 8. He was 75 years of age. Mr. Weber, a lifelong resident of the community who had lived for the past twenty years at the Riverside drive address, was taken ill and hospitalized only eight days before his death. The deceased, bom Feb. 25, 1890, was a retired- carpenter. He was a veteran of World War I and held memberships in the American Legion Post, No. 491, Knights of Columbus Council, No. 1288, and the Carpenters Union. Survivors are four sisters, Mrs. Ann (John)) Thennes, Mrs. Helen Heuser, Mrs. Emily (Arthur) Broeker and Miss Laura Weber, all of McHenry. Three sisters and two brothers preceded him in death. The body rested at the George R. Justen & Son funeral home until the time of last rites. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery. Miller road, Ringwood, escaped unhurt last week when his car left Rt. 120, three miles east of Woodstock. In attempting to return to the highway, the auto slid on wet pavement, turned around and struck a tree. Future meetings will be held the first and third Mondays at the high school. For further information, call Duane Andreas. ELMER W. JENSEN Elmer W. Jensen of 3931 W. Waukegan road, McHenry, die d u n e x p e c t e d l y a b o u t 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon, Sept. 9, while riding with his son, Ted, near Fox Lake. He was pronounced dead at McHenry hospital after suffering a heart attack. Mr. Jensen's death was unexpected although he had been in poor health for about two years. The deceased was born in Chicago Oct. 14, 1908, and lived in the McHenry area for forty years. A building contractor by trade, he had served on the McHenry police force many years ago and more recently at the city sanitation plant. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Seabees in the South Pacific. Survivors are his wife, Bertha A. (Schiessle) Jensen, and one son, Ted. The body rested at the Peter M. Justen & Son funeral home until 10 o'clock Monday morning, when last rites were conducted from the chapel, with burial in St. Mary's cemetery. CATHERINE WAGNER A well known' resident of the Volo area, Mrs. Joseph (Catherine) Wagner, 72, died Sunday, Sept. 12, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Walter Freund, Jr., of Riverside drive, McHenry. She was born Feb. 8, 1893 in Chicago and had lived in Volo for 37 years. Mrs. Wagner was a member of Court Joyce Kilmer, Catholic Daughters of America, McHenry, and St. Anne sodality and St. Peter church, Volo. Other survivors are another daughter, Mrs. Robert (Dorothy) Herrmann, Waukegan, a son, John, of Volo; thirteen grandchildren and one greatg r a n d c h i l d ; t w o b r o t h e r s , Charles Martini of Charlevoix, Mich., and Joseph Martini, Chicago. Her husband preceded her in death in 1960. The body rested at the George R. Justen and Son funeral home until Wednesday morning when funeral services were held at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's church with interment in the church cemetery in Volo. A In keeping with her many duties in connection with the title of Little Miss Peanut, Nancy Schultz met the Chicago Bears at O'Hare field last Friday and sold them peanuts. Monday, Sept. 13, she appeared on the Don McNeil Breakfast Club at 8:30 and then spent the entire' day at the fortyeighth annual Illinois-Eastern Iowan district Kiwanis convention at the Edgewater Beach hotel. Highlight of the day was her appearance as one of the guests of honor at the fiftieth anniversary dinner. Sunday, Sept. 19, she will be on the Jack Eigen show. Nancy is looking forward to meeting Mayor Daley and-Governor Kerner if the arrangements can be worked out. The hectic reign of the 1965 Little Miss Peanut will terminate Sept. 24 on Peanut Daiy The activities for Sept. 23 and 24 promise to keep Nancy and her mother very busy. She will be on the Jim Conway and Lee Phillip shows on Sept. 23 and possibly several other radio and TV shows. She will also be present in Chicago and McHenry oh the day of the peanut sale. . Douglas of Lakeland Park left Wednesday for a visit with her son, Major Patrick A. Colliton, and family at Fort Lewis, Wash. She plans to become acquainted with a new grandson, Stephen Schill, who was born Aug. 6. Major Colliton is chief of staff of the opthalmology department at Madigan General hospital, where he has been stationed for the past year. INDICTED BY JURY Phillip Bell of Rt. 47, Woodstock, has been indicted by the county grand jury on a charge of involuntary manslaughter resulting from the death of Mrs. Clarice Fricken of McHenry in an accident June 30 on Rt. 120, two miles west of McHenry.
