Early the morning of the thiPteehth, Miss Bixby lapsed into, a coma, and her parents were summoned to Charleston. Dolors advised that she should be placed in the care of specialists, and Laura was moj^ed by state police-escorted ambulance to Elgin. By weekend, she had regained consciousness and was abjg to converse and show responsive body movement, with inclinations that she will make 3 complete recovery. Thand - you notes were received from the Miller family, and also from Gert Barbian for the gifts and kindnesses shown her from several auxiliary members. The dues are payable as of now. The official kick-off dinner for the auxiliary will be held on Oct. 25. Your 1966 dues card is your ticket to the dinner. You may pay your dues now or at the door the night of the dinner. Hospital C'hairman Gen Bradley reported that there had been no party at Downey in September. The next party will be the third Wednesday of October and all those interested in going out to Downey should contact her. Americanism Chairman Inez Young reminds us to display our flags every, day, not just special days. Mrs. Young is also the grave registration chairman and she told us that Sister Mary Williams had passed away. The charter will be draped the first meeting in October, which is the eleventh. F l o r e n c e T u s s e y , s u n shine chairman, informed us that several getwell cards had been sent. We also send get well wishes to Helen Spoolstra, who was hospitalized recently. The obligation was given to June Schmunk as patriotic instructor, by Past President, Flo Svoboda. A historian book was presented to Past President Gen Bradley by last year's historian, Lil Doran. President Jan Wiles thanked the girls who have worked in the kitchen for the fine job they h a v e d o n e i n c l e a n i n g t h e kitchen and keeping it clean. The annual card party has been set for Nov. 3. This is to be a luncheon - card party. Chairman for the event is Genevieve Bradley and she asks that the ladies from the auxiliary donate items for prizes. Let's get a group together and go to the card party and make it a real success. Sept. 12 was Illinois Day at the National Home in Eaton Rapids, Mich. There are fortyfive children from Illinois living in the National Home at the present time. This home is maintained by the V.F.W. and the ladies auxiliary for the veterans' widows and orphans. The next regular meeting of the auxiliary will be Oct. 11 at 8 p.m. at the V.F.W. clubhouse. Q.
