The teams faced North Chicago, Sept. 16 and Grant, Sept. 18. The meet at North Chicago was run in cool, windy weather. After arriving at 4:45, the squad warmed up by running the course. The Varsity dropped their match 37-18, the low score winning. McQueen, Pier- ' ghicagqj,; finished v*e<Wyi and third: McQuelh's timers 11:33. Lamont led the Warriors and finished fourth with a time of 12:24. In fifth place, was Iverson of North Chicago. He was followed by Alderson of McHemy who ran the course in 12:38. Zvonar, Snell and Carter finished 8, 9 and 10 for McHenry. The Frosh-Soph team topped North Chicago, 34-22. Foster, of North Chicago, led the pack in 12:47. He was followed by Raj Aiwa of McHenry. His time was 13:04. McHenry runners also placed 3, 4 and 5. Wagner, Bockman and Smith son and Lang, all of North filled these positions. The meet at Grant was held on a 2.3 mile course with a steep hill for the boys to climb. The course is a real test of endurance. The Varsity dropped their match 38-18. Grant runners finished in 1, 2 and 3 positions while Mark Alderson led McHenry and finished 4. Mark's time was 13:9. Carter finished 6 for McHenry, Zvonar, 7; Snell, 8 and Lariiont 11. Other McHenry runners were Stinespring, Perrino, Karstens, Walkington and Stahl. The Frosh-Soph team tied 28-28. Honeyman led the field in 13:08 and was followed by Aiwa, who ran the course in 13:38. This is the third straight time the Tigers took the crown. They dinched the title with a 6-0 win over the Shamrocks. Ed Mack shut out the Shamrocks allowing Only 2 hits. Johnsburg scored all of their Yuns off of Phil Schmitt in the second inning. The big inning started with a walk to Jim Meyers. Then Bob Hiller sacrificed but was safe on an error by Schmitt. Mack followed with a walk. With the bases full, Michels singled, Shields walked, Wayne Hiller singled and then scored when Kazlausky reached base on an error. For Johnsburg it was another successful season. The Tigers have a young team and a bright future. He appeared last Thursday in the court of Magistrate John Kaufman. Ronald A. Haller of 120 Rugeley road, Western Springs on a charge of drag racing amended to negligent driving, paid $100 and $5 costs. A $20 fine and $5 costs were assessed Laurence R. Jackson of 1923 Brentwood lane, Mo Henry, charged with unecessary noise. Darrel F. Oman of 296 Garfield, Ingleside, was charged with having an expired driver's license and paid a fine of $50 and $5 costs. Charles B. Caley, Jr., of 1707 W. Oakleaf drive, McHenry, entered a plea of not guilty but was found guilty of speeding and paid a fine of $19 and $5 costs. Former Marian Student Makes Ripon Squad McHENRY WOMAN ASSAULTED AFTER LEAVING TAVERN A McHenry woman was reported in good condition in the local hospital Tuesday, recovering from injuries sustained when she was assaulted Saturday evening. Isabelle Twaites is reported by the sheriff's office to have left the Bird Cage, a tavern near Volo, with an unidentified man whom she had met there earlier in the evening. Later, she was found on Rt. 120, east of McHenry, in a dazed condition. She was found unclothed in a ditch, suffering severe facial bruises and cuts. Her purse was reported to have been missing. AUXILIARY TO HOSPITAL PLANS OCTOBER EVENTS At the last meeting of the McHenry Hospital auxiliary, plans were made for the annual luncheon meeting to be held at the McHenry Country club at noon on Oct. 13. An interesting and timely program will include a speaker on "Project Hope" and a film tour of South Viet Nam. Mrs. William Jordan, sewing guild chairman, has also invited all members and guests to attend a dessert card party to be held the following day, when a special prize will be a painting by Lori Wilhelm, featured artist at the 1965 Country Art Fair. Proceeds of this event will be placed in the building fund of the hospital. NEW FIRST AID COURSE TO OPEN MONDAY, SEPT. 27 John Corso of McHenry is a new comer to the Ripon college football squad, John is fighting for a tackle position on the team. To be successful, John will have to compete with many returning lettermen which helped give Ripon its second straight midwest conference title last fall. John was a popular, athlete at Marian Central Catholic high .school. We wish irim lots of luck. McHenry Civil Defense, in cooperation with the American Red Cross will sponsor a standard first aid course to be held Monday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30 in Room 224 of the McHenry high school.
