BOUGH Many important jobs in the huge Chicago post office do not louch on the mail in any way. Yet if no one were functioning on these jobs many difficulties could arise to interfere seriously with the movement of mail in and out of the installation. Harold C. Bough, superintendent in the Building Services unit, retiring from the Chicago posl office after a career of nearly thirty-one years, held down one of these important non-mail jobs from the time he joined the service in 1937, until his recent re-* tirement. The news came from the office of Chicago Postmaster Harry H. Semrow. Born in Oslo, Norway, when that beautiful capital was still known as Christiana, Bough was brought to this country when very young. Except for a few years of residence in Chicago during the War, he has lived continuously in the Wauconda-Island Lake area. His present home is in Island Lake. In 1960 he was promoted to the job of superintendent, building servicc. Bough held this position until his retirement. As superintendent of his particular section, Bough has had supervision of the Janitor, Elevator, Guards and Telephone services. He was also in charge to man these various stations. Bough and other retirees will bo feted soon in the office ol Postmaster Semrow at a •Special ceremony for retiring personnel. He will receive the special wallet size retirement plaque made of polished bronze and containing his name and years of service. Bough will also receive the honorary certificate of retirement, a much admired and coveted testimonial signed by the Postmaster General of the United States and the Postmaster of Chicag,(>. HONORED ON ANNIVERSARY A gay party atmosphere prevailed at the McHenry Holler Rink on Saturday night, Sept: 18, when skaters of all ages gathered to pay honor to Mrs. Dorothy Weber. Dorothy has been playing the organ at the roller rink for six nights a week for the past twenty years and this was her anniversary. She is known and loved by children of two decades, many of whom tinned out for the celebration. Mrs. Aldona Cepulis and the McHenry Skating club presented Mrs. Weber with a beautiful corsage at the beginning of the evening. At intermission time, two skaters who started at the rink in 1944 and 1945, John Boehm of McHenry and Ray Swanson of Woodstock, escorted Mrs. Weber from the organ room to the center of the skating floor, where she was presented with gifts from all the skaters. Accompanied by the "Anniversary Waltz", beautifully played by her daughter, Jean, Mrs. Weber was taken to the refreshment corner where two very large cake's were to be served to the guests. PRIZE STEER * For the fourth straight year, the Valley Hi Nursing Home for McHenry county has been given the grand champion steer of the McHenry County Fair by' the National Tea Company.
